  1. Yes, I certainly find the colors on that book attractive, the bright reds and oranges certainly add to the impact on some of these books. I picked up HoM 265 (i think) a while back and it has the spider and man grappling over a nice orange background. Love it.
  2. Personally, I prefer the Kaluta covers from this time period but I have to admit that's a very nice book. (thumbs u
  3. Just got this one in the mail today! It survived; however, the seller shipped it between two pieces of cardboard and in one of those stiff light cardboard envelopes. I'm really surprised the book survived the journey. Go figure. Anyway, no problems for me just happy to have the book in one piece, rather than two.
  4. He needs to have Robin or Batgirl put a bit of fabric softener on the next load of clothes they wash for him. If the cloak is that bad imagine the tights.
  5. Fantastic, I forgot that this book even existed. I may have to find a copy.
  6. and Those are very nice books, but I think I'm coming down firmly on the side of unsigned vs signed in the debate. My first concern is the scrawl that seems to cover the image in most cases, I find this very unattractive. There's a couple of exceptions, your Neal Adams is one and Mike Kaluta seems to be another. The second issue I have is the sellers thinking the price of the book is trebled just because the author signed it. I've seen a couple of the early 70's Shadow books offered for huge price premiums. When I checked GPA the prices are like from 50 - 140 for 9.8. The seller wanted like three times that amount. I mean maybe you will find someone that will pay you but that signature, to me, is not worth multiple times the unsigned value of the book. I had to back away from that purchase and I'm perfectly happy with the universal books I've picked up.
  7. i started that auction at $149.99 with a BIN of $175. i would have offered it on here for $125, but lately it hasn't been selling on the FS section. I've got a raw copy I bought off the rack sitting in my basement. I think it'll grade 9.4 or 9.6. Which means it will probably come back with something like an 8.
  8. If only everyone thought like this. Then we wouldn't have a trillion books signed by Stan Lee that people think is enough to ask double what the book is worth. Having Stan Lee sign a Hulk 181 or a ASM 300 is just outrageous to me. I sure hope those books are looked at as if they are restored and lessen the value if the soignee had nothing to do with the book. Oh and how is it this book is a 9.9 with the pages showing in the top right corner? I get so trying to figure out how a book gets to be a 9.9 over a 9.8.... Jerome I guess I should upgrade my 9.4 before all the 9.8 copies end up with Stan Lee's signature scrawled all over the cover in fat black sharpie and priced at at a $1000 and up.
  9. Yea, it's up on ebay now. G.I. Combat Sigh. And I really wanted this one.
  10. I don't really see the price differential, they all seem expensive to me.
  11. Looks like someone got that 400 for a nice price as well. I guess I should have made a run at that one.
  12. Gavel appears to have come down at $730 for the 9.0 227 on eBay. Congrats on the sale.
  13. I've been thinking I'd like to read that Warlord series. Is there an Omnibus or something available collecting a good run of that series?
  14. I was wanting to start picking up some Doorway into Nightmare books but they seem to be as rare a hen's teeth. Instead, here's some Weird Worlds I picked up as consolation.
  15. I think there's a 9.2 of that issue up on eBay. I've been thinking about picking it up but so many other purchases get in the way... Regardless, that's a nice book with an awesome cover.
  16. Ah, so my next Neal Adams Bats acquisition came through today. Still expensive for this issue but about 25$ less than then the guy bought it for back in October. Nothing special but I love this rendition of Batgirl and I really like the colors. And its awesome that someone got close enough to Batman to safety pin a big kick me sign on his back. Plus its silver age, white pages and pedigreed.
  17. My experience with fwertham has been pretty positive. I got the book for about 45 bucks cheaper than other folks were asking and after the PO raped my package fwertham returned some money without me asking so I could put the book in the shop. I have a few other books that need to go in and I was going to write it off as a cost of doing business. He's a good seller in my book. I'd buy again. (thumbs u
  18. and talia al ghul has to be the hottest female in the batman universe. The hotness factor was certainly an influence on my purchase of 235.
