I've got two small Fast Track Moderns sitting on G/E/I for 2.5 weeks now myself. The thing is is that they are graded already. If you ever look at your "grade date" under the CERT # it's almost always the same day that the status changed to G/E/I. I think the indicated status is the last completed event. It'll change to Quality Control after slabbing and Shipped after it's ready for pickup by the carrier. Just my observation since I've got nothing else to do as I wait.

Yeah but where can you see the Certification #? All I show is Order # and Submission #.

End of today marks 4 weeks in G/E/I for my 6/14 received modern slow boats.

Mine were Received/SFG on 6/15 and I just hit 3 weeks in G/E/I today.

Please post when yours are graded so I can have a little hope.

Our books are buddies on the Isle of Misfits, books CGC refuses to grade and instead they choose to grade the shiny, new books that came in last week!

  3. I think a little transparency wouldn't hurt. If CGC could just put up a post explaining why some new Modern subs are getting done super fast while others are stagnant, it would do a lot for Customer Service. I mean, it's not like some big secret that some lucky few are getting their books back while others continue to wait.

It would literally take 5 minutes or less to just put up a post/announcement regarding details on the how and why.

People can buy a copy of King Spawn with coa Todd sig...mail it to CGC...get it graded...shipped back home...and post it on insta all while my May subs sit on the floor at CGC.  Dont they get we can see all these books, graded months before our subs...literally getting different treatment for what...cuz we subbed before a price increase.  Glad home heating oil companies dont work this way...not that they care either...and that's me saying out loud CGC dont care.

Don't forget this "new system" they have implemented and some people are getting their books back within in a week or two. Those lucky individuals are bragging (no offense, I'd brag too...I'm just jealous, ok?) for us all to see.

I hit up customer service to try and get an estimate and an explanation of whats going on with all these Moderns in the June range that have been sitting in G/E/I for weeks (If your submission was received in their system on June 14th, by my calculations we should have had our books back by September 30th. TATs were at 111 business days when we submitted back in May).

Customer service gave me canned answers the first 3 back and forths and then they finally told me "End of November" would be when we get our books back. I'm not sure if they are just saying some far projection to get us off their backs or if that is real life. If thats true thats putting them almost 2 months past what their projections were back in June, and currently their TATs have gone down to 106. Nothing makes sense at this company. In my experience the past year, their TAT's are fairly spot on and I've never sat in G/E/I for more than two weeks on modern.

Thanks for checking. I'm right in that June time range (June 15).

    End of November is ridiculous.

Has anyone had a change in their Modern submissions, not Fast Track, since at least, 9/30? Unless your are one of the special selections for the new grading process I don’t think most Moderns have been touched for a couple weeks.

Yeah just for quick reference, my Modern (Non FT) submissions were SFG 6/15 and went into G/E/I on 9/28 and there they remain...forgotten.

I think CGC has realized that people tend to get excited/content when there appears to be some movement in the system. I wouldn't be surprised if they added a few more tiers to the grading process to show progress:

    Here's an example:

    "Delivered"

    "Received"

    "Entered into the System"

    "Scheduled for Grading"

    "Currently being Graded"

    "Graded"

    "Encapsulation/Imaging"

    "QA/QC"

    "Packaged for Shipping"

    "Shipped"

    "Shipped for Real"

"Okay, we really mean it this time, just saw the box go out the door"

These should in between "Received" and "Entered into the System" to add dramatic effect:

"We may have lost your package, standby"

"Just playin'. We got it. Entered into the System AGAIN"

  8. Anyone know the current times for Moderns (Non FT) moving out of G/E/I into G/QC (Went into G/E/I about a week ago and books were SFG on 6/15/21. Just looking for anyone who had similar dates)?

I'm still going to obsessively check every hour on the hour, of course.

They deal with a large number of consignment items.  I think I read somewhere that they take in 70k plus consignment items per year and sell about 30k consignment items per year.  That would mean approximately 200 items come in each day and I'd imagine that would be at least a full time job just imaging consignment items.  That ignores all the other time required to enter the item into their database etc.

Oh, I know it's a process. I'm just nitpicking to nitpick. They have treated me very well and I highly recommend their service.

Update on Value Tier (No FT, No CCS).

    Arrived at CGC- 4/2/21

    Received in CGC System- 5/2/21

    Scheduled for Grading- 5/2/21

    Grading/Encapsulating/Imaging- 9/17/21

    G/QC- 9/29/21

Great, thanks. I'm about 16 days behind you on my Value subs (No FT, No CCS either).

  11. I pretty much sell all my comics through their consignment services. Overall, I have been very pleased with their service. The fees are reasonable and I don't have to mess with the hassle of shipping the book to a buyer (which presents another host of potential problems).

My only complaint is the time it takes for them to actually list the books. I just sent in two books for consignment, and it took them around a week to get them scanned and ready for me to set the price. I understand that they have to scan the book and then file it, but if there was a way they could shave a few days off the process that would be great. But I'm nitpicking.
