As a kid and collector I can remember every collector waiting for FF Annual @1 to come out, as I recall early summer or just before...real excitement and the wait was worth every penny as that was the cost of 2 comics plus penny...everybody was checking the drugstores or in my case newsstand.

how about the last 40 years....it's been that way since FF1 broke $100....there are only so many high grade SA/GA..and that's where I would put my collection emphasis on...white pages a super premium.

what a great bookstore...today,alas...no more

great book and S/K cap story...very strong colors...

he put the brakes on the market to create an upward trend such that his 80% prices no matter what would go up next year...it created a real market especially after he began charting the top 25 etc....Also early on the rumor was that if he did not own the book he would keep the price down....just a number...the major shift from #1 to #2 was epic...you knew this was real and gonna take off....that was the feeling among collectors...would there be a second and would it be better in format... when would it come out? and he hit it out of the park on the second one.......and the rest is history.

Just picked up my copy today...great catalog...its much better than the computer in many ways...what a collection ...

just saw his local tv video where he claims he has more comics than anyone on planet earth....but not claiming the universe title. The reason he does have this amount is he does not sell his stuff cheap...he buys cheap and sells high..no problem..but I have feeling that MCS sells 10x what chuck does a month and they have millions of comics buy they move them...I had a friend visit MCS this year and they have 100 employees or there about so I would say they sell the most comics on earth on a yearly basis..... Both are giants in there own right....but MHC is gonna at some point dump a large amount on the market should a change of business model occur or need or necessity. Because their stock is top heavy away for GA and early SA...unless 5x price..this will not effect those markets at that time. So, its the waiting game...for that inventory to hit...should be interesting when it does, in the meantime it keeps getting bigger and bigger.

#2 for me was the first one bought but a friend of mine had #1 and we used it all the time. So important back then to establish credibility in our hobby....

Here are my top 3 art items and top comic book in my opinion in the entire sale 1- Kelly Freas "The Long Road Home"...Kelly's Astounding run of 1950's cover are amazing, including "Martains go Home" and many other. This painting is a masterpiece., the story is interesting....just the mix of colors and mood on this one. I had heard that Jerrry W had this painting and it cost him about 40K.......its worth it. 2-HJ Ward Chaos and Back...one of the best and rarest SF covers of HJ Ward...great piece.....one of my Favs of that great book out on him by Illustration house. 3-"Harold McCauley "Toffe takes a Trip"...as a former owner, this is a great piece...its what the 50's dream gals are all about. Great pin up/SCFI Combo.... 4-Weird Science #14...stunning...9.8....better then if you bought it off the newsstand with a time machine.....

so busy...I like to get out...here is a heads up Robo...Marvel Omnibus reprint is starting a new line called "Masters of Suspense" Vol #1 is 688 pages of every Steve Ditko horror/SF story for marvel..there will be a second volume to complete it. It just $100 bucks now and might come down in price on August 27, Pub date...I as a true comic book collector look forward to the new color corrected oversized pages and order placed. This is some mighty fine bathroom reading for a while...LOL. I would really like to see a Don Heck volume down the road.....check it out...good things coming this year and I hope this new venture is a mighty success.

Look for the world record sale of Cap#1 9.4 SF copy on Ha.com coming up to help Cap #100 and Avengers#4.....especially in ultra high CGC graded copies 9.4 and above

Given the possible acutal delivery factor..such as condition, or even delivery factor, the price advantange of E-bay vs a guarantee shipment from the Big Auction houses and Dealers(some dont charge sales tax) seems to tilt away from E-Bay...they should adjust their fees accordingly to each state with a higher tax rate...

records are ment to be broken, although its gonna take a super human effort to top the last auction...but if anybody can, Ha can...
