  1. Photo of the year.....amazing, I can still remember Terry at the first Berkley comic book convention the early 70's he sold me Action #4 VFfor $120...those were the days, good to see him up since his letdown at SDCC, really no way to treat a 40 plus year vendor, maybe even 45 year...but we will never get the straight story. I also read some of the other comments about the Calif Con age of the attendee's with little being under 30, In the early days of comic book conventions it was an triple split with 20/40 and then Irving Bigman..etc Look at the early SDCC with Frank Capra as a guest, not for the teens. It has and will always be diverse. This a great development and should be expanded to a two day for as some folks are more limited on a Sunday only....keep it up with the shows for the real comic book collectors its a win/win here. Thanks for the great photos...any more?
  2. it will be interesting to see if the turnout is bigger than last year...
  3. great cover, never seen that one before, thanks
  4. If I was the book owner I would also check both addresses next door to the the comic shop...and they should be able to talk to the delivery person to confirm where they were dropped off, my only other suggestion would be to offer a reward for their return no questions asked .....
  5. a real shame...put an add in craige's list in area where they were delivered and saying paying cash for comics.....see if you get a bite.....and get ready to call the cops
  6. Thanks Mark for the info, I hope the books will be recovered and the person or persons fully brought to justice in this serious theft. The books are not replaceable in those conditions. When and if this matter is resolved I hope the details of what happened are made public on this forum to help educate everybody involved in the risks of true comic book collecting. Will keep my ears to the wall in SoCal....
  7. I would second that....what area of the USA should be focused on and were the books lost in transit?

    This guy!

sponsored by PGX but they don't give me compensation...wow......is book graded low, I would need to look closely at page quality...probably a bit but not to high for sure
  9. great stuff thanks, some I had never seen before
  10. bring that thief to justice asap
  11. we love the internet as a tool of communication, when its a tool for crime, that positive/negative...back in the early 70's I went into bank and said give me the largest deposit box you have, and they looked at me funny, I said it for my comic collection and my insurance company Loyds of London required it..they look at me ever crazier....a lot of time an education as taken place in the comic book, but one thing remains constant....put you you good stuff in a bank box, no matter how much its costs, yes it's a hassle, so what...I can remember the first time back in the late 70's early 80's Bruce Hamilton having a walk in safe area..very impressive, so I guess if you have the $$$ you could built you own, I wish and hope for a full recovery of your collection and that the person or persons be brought to justice and that the freedom of sharing you hard work as a true comic book collector and acquiring top notch collection is not ripped away from you.
  12. wish you the best to get your collection back.....
  13. The odds of the" other guy", beer, and me being wrong that makes three not two...I do not see how liberal or conservative has any meaning whatsoever to this issue, regardless of how you feel on politics WE together should agree that this type of practice is not acceptable to ANYBODY...PERIOD
  14. FYI, before grade inflation many years ago Bob Overstreet told me he held it in his hand and grade it a minimum of 9.0....that was many moons ago..LOL
  15. I do not have the books in my possession, sorry but I assume the "other guy" has shared it with CGC....They are all in it together.....still it makes common sense to be careful no matter what happened.
  16. I applaud the keeping of another brick and mortar store in existence, I wish them well and hope they are there for a long time and profitable..
  17. Independent of Robert, I have confirmed that 6 GA books were involved. That the "other guy" is not making that up.This really opens up a number of issues as to plastic holder security or ability to repo one, reproduction of a CGC Label, and criminal intent to defraud. There are a bunch of evil guys out there that are greedy no good leachs on our great comic book hobby...these people need to be held accountable and brought to justice. I would going forward confine major purchases to the action houses/ dealers which would refund you purchase price unless you have the ability to personally inspect what you buy...I would exhibit caution buying anything on E-Bay, Craigs List, etc. without researching the pedigree and making sure there is a return policy in place during the purchase for a reasonable time period
