    Still fondly remember John at NYCC, SDCC, and Wizard Chicago. My aunt used to live within walking distance of John’s shop on Main Street in Alhambra, CA. Would park my car near my Aunt’s apartment house and stroll over. John will tell these funny and amazing stories of bringing comic books to Jerry Buss, yeah that Jerry Buss, late owner of the Lakers at the Playboy Mansion. My last purchase from John was Action 252, first Supergirl. I remember him as a busy super nice guy.

    Picked up this book to improve my knowledge of Hank Janson UK pulps. Found the Reginald Heade cover was never used, until recently. Book on the right was printed on demand on September 27, 2022.

    When I was a kid decades ago, between American public school and Chinese Language school, I would faithful watch Marvel Superheroes cartoons, which I found out later were swiped from the pages of Marvel silver age comics. Captain America in “Zemo and the Masters of Evil” was a favorite of mine. I found an Avengers 6 page over fifteen years ago from Phillip Weiss. Love Chic Stone’s inking over Kirby pencils.

    Love Reed Crandall’s “The Corpse that Came to Dinner” from Out of the Shadows 9. Joe Orlando’s “Midnight Mess” from Tales From the Crypt 35 has my favorite final panel. Also love Jack Davis’ “Foul Play.” Panel used in Wertham’s SOTI. Comic books have destroyed my mind and sanity.

    PS Artbooks from the UK has reprinted many hard bound golden age titles. They started printing facsimile editions of desirable ga titles. I picked up replicas of Phantom Lady 13, 14, and 15 recently at my LCS. The facsimile edition includes a large copy of the cover with a styrofoam mat. The ink used to create the facsimile edition is a little sticky, reminiscent of old Xerox copies. Here is a side by side comparison with an original PL 14.

    Many GA books that did not receive a renewed copyright are in the public domain. The digitalcomicmuseum.com is usually very accurate on what comics are in the public domain. They have removed some GA books over the years.
