  1. I'm not sure how American they'd want to make all the superheroes. They want this to appeal on a global scale and they were pretty blatant with Supes Americanization ("I'm as American as it gets, General").
  2. I'm actually impressed. Better than I expected. She looks great and exactly as I was expecting her to look. It's similar to the recent depictions that appeared in the latest DC animated film, Injustice video game the New 52 series. I'm very excited about her addition in the upcoming films and the later to come solo ventures.
  3. I love AV and really enjoyed his Batman stuff, I will definitely pick this up. I'm surprised DC/Vertigo let this one slip away to Image ....
  4. I guess I can see the reasoning when so many reporters are trying to publish every detail they can dig up, including encouraging people to sneak onto sets and take pictures and videos. But would Warner go this far to throw them off the trail? that's what i'm wondering if it turns out to be true that they faked a -script and we get better information come SDCC about the movie and were it's going. then i gave WB for making sure everybody was misdirected. What if all of it has been a lie?? What if Ben Affleck is playing Mister Mxyzptlk?!
  5. +1 where is the "burn" emoticon?? , seriously though, there isn't any real hostility between fans of the two publishers amongst boardies is there? That's a bit silly.. Why bother with that? There is a lot good stories to enjoy from both companies anyway. +1, I love what both companies are doing with their films right now. It's a really exciting time to be a comic book fan, I say enjoy it all while it last as everything is transitory.

  7. Snyder interview with USA Today: Link "You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it's Batman and Superman, let's just be honest," Snyder says. "I don't know how you get bigger than that."
  8. See, I was completely unaware of all of this and therefore when I saw MOS my reaction was . Let this be a lesson to the criminals of Metropolis/malicious beings of outer space and other dimensions, Supes has taken off the gloves
  9. +1 A lot of the people saying it, are the same ones trying to defend ASM2. Fact of the matter is, Spider-man as a franchise is probably the only one that could compete with the Avengers or Batman to put up those crazy kind of numbers, but they've mangled it so bad, it's not even close. Captain America: Winter Soldier (which ISN'T going to do Avengers numbers) was extremely well received and beat it's first picture domestic numbers by $80 MILLION and was $86 Million over it's reported budget. X-Men DOFP is currently $16 Million over it's budget (and still playing), and is on it's way to being one of the most popular in the franchise. Also very well received. Really.... the Amazing Spider-man franchise is the only one dropping the ball here... +1 to this, the rest of the studios are putting out quality films. The solo Marvel/Disney films are based upon a certain genre and the titled superhero serves as an additional element to that film. Captain America was a political thriller at heart, Thor 2 was a fantasy/adventure film and GOTG is going to be a sci-fi epic. The only film so far that was an all out superhero film was the Avengers. Now, if year in and out they gave us the Avengers beating up on a random new enemy then yes, perhaps it would get stale and played out but that is exactly why Marvel/Disney (hopefully DC in the near future) is implementing this current formula. Fox and especially Marvel/Disney have taken there time planning out their films while Sony has been a mess since Spider-Man 3, which was their own doing because the higher-ups got involved and diluted Raimi's vision with demanding additional villains.
  10. One of the better Superman arcs was the aftermath of Superman killing three Krytptonian criminals. It was his worse-case scenario, so he removed himself from Earth and headed into deep space. Handled right, written well, it can make Superman even more relateable. I haven't seen or heard of this before but I'll definitely be checking it out now, thanks (thumbs u
  11. I wouldn't assume by Clark breaking Zod's neck (I'm guessing at this point we don't have to insert that in a spoiler now) he was comfortable with what happened, and would easily do it again. If anything, I would assume the opposite as when he screamed afterwards, it had the feeling of an action that ripped his soul out having to take such a drastic action. So Batman coming along and displaying an approach that he truly will do whatever it takes repeatedly to put a criminal away may be an even larger friction point for Clark as now he will be overly sensitive to an "ends justify the means" mentality. That was very well put and I hope it is the case, having grown up on Superman it was a very shattering experience to watch that happen. I know that in order for this Superman to standout and be successful as a film franchise he can't be the C. Reeves boy scout Supes but I hope that event in his history isn't overlooked and rather helps mold some defining characteristics as you said.
  12. One of the descriptions I read about the new batman is that "he'll do anything to get the job done and isn't the similar to the by-the-book superman", I don't know what that will means because this new Superman isn't afraid to break the rules (or neck) in order for the greater good.
  13. As long as they don't go completely ludicrous in the crime scene investigation as Marvel did in Iron Man 3 (the complete digital reenactment of the explosion down to the flatulent pedestrians) because that was completely absurd, even by Stark standards.
  14. Really, you actually believe a studio receives 100% of the domestic box office? It's Magic Accounting! They have to split a percentage with the theaters for certain, I'm not sure of the others but there are definitely more. I don't think there is anyway they receive a 100% of the domestic box office total.
  15. Considering the fact that this film was essentially a stepping stone for the next film and its intention being to get everyone excited about the Spidey-Universe, I don't think the studio can consider it a success in that aspect. I wouldn't pay to watch another one of these films and I think a lot of people share that sentiment. Financially, even though it hasn't broken 200 million domestically (pretty bad) the total gross of 700 million + can't be considered a complete failure.
  16. I thought the same thing. Whoever did this is very talented. Now watch the SDCC official announcement come out that he is playing Lobo and blow us all away. , that would be hilarious! It's a win-win scenario though, .
  17. I would consider this a step forward for Ben Affleck, and not backward. The Batman paycheck will set him and his children and grandchildren financially up forever. You can`t really be disappointed in his decision. This goes to show it`s about money. He could go make three more Oscar winners like Argo, and none of those will set him up financially up for life like one Batman paycheck will. Jack Nicholson earned 60 million to play the Joker. JACK NICHOLSON got 60 million to play Joker. So Ben Affleck made a wise decision. Consider it a "step forward" when there's years of associated press reported bad-behavior at casinos then. Ben was a better Hollywood person behind the scenes as he entered his 40's and you know what? He was pretty dang good at it for his past credentials. But, he had to bust his azz to get our repect for him again. He's gonna be a great Batman/Bruce Wayne, but he's gonna get painted in a corner by being typecasted for popcorn roles, like Kevin Costner did after following-up Dances With Wolves with Robin Hood. Your never gonna see an Oscar campaign "Now an important movie experience from actor who played Batman". You also cannot compare him to Jack Nicholson. Nicholson is/was a Hollywood entity, that it gravitates to. He had to play the Joker. It was custom made to him. He took a chance in taking a pay cut to at the time also, because the movie was so dark, no one really knew where it was gonna go. Nicholson and company were pleased with the dailies, but there was a chance it would fail. I just see him cashing out* of Hollywood after finally getting some quality Matt Damon kind of respect. But... Nicholson did get the gold for "As Good As It Gets". ...so you never know. *I was going with a Paycheck movie reference in last night's post. Nicholson took a pay cut and instead opted to take a percentage of the total box office haul of Batman. That was the only way he would agree to do the film. Also, I agree that Ben will do a good job in this upcoming film but considering the man essentially produces, directs, writes and stars in his own films, I don't think he'll have trouble landing the roles he wants.
  18. What I think happened for such heated debate was more then a few people can`t wait for Marvel to get back the rights to Spider-Man, and that has sort of developed a bias against Sony`s ASM franchise. I can't speak for everyone but me personally, I have nothing against who's making the films or care much about which studio has rights to what property. Although I haven't seen the Tobey Spiderm-Man films since they initially came out, I remember enjoying them a lot. Albeit, I was sixteen at the time Spider-Man 2 came out (holly hell time flies) and I don't know how I would feel about those early Spider-Man films today after the bar has been raised by so many other great superhero films since then. I didn't think ASM 1 was terrible either, I felt that was a movie they had to make in order to set up the new Spider-Man franchise and looked past the repetitive story line but with ASM 2 they did the same exact thing. They didn't focus on the present narrative and built the film around setting up the next installment. I'm all for expanding the Spider-Man universe but their execution of it was just horrible. A good example of this would be how Marvel used Iron Man 2 to showcase SHIELD in order to begin their expansion and DC used Man of Steel, IM2 and MOS weren't the best of films either but they were much better than ASM 2.
  19. I've tried very hard to forget this movie but every time I visit Comic General this thread some how keeps popping up and reminding me that this movie exists. Noooooooo!!
  20. Risk-taker. Oh, and not! CONFIRMED: Jason Momoa To Play 'Aquaman' In BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Well, The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that Jason Momoa will indeed play Aquaman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, before taking on a larger role in Justice League. Both movies will shoot back to back. Momoa was originally said to be in talks for a role last December, but has denied these claims since. However, that has of course become expected, and we now know that the team so far consists of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Aquaman. While Green Lantern and The Flash have been rumoured, there hasn't been any casting news on those roles as of yet. YES!!!!!!! A confirmation, finally. This is excellent news in my opinion. Momoa is definitely a great choice to bring Aquaman to life in way that will erase all/most of the preconceived notions that the general audience has about him.
