  1. I'm the one who should But since Paul Pope's career started in 1995, a cover from 1997 could accurately be called a...vintage Paul Pope cover. Sorry, Jimmy. What's funny, too, about that Batman cover is that the seller never thought he'd get $5K for it. That's a record for a Paul Pope cover. I know the seller and he was asking for offers before putting it on eBay. He would have sold it for a lot less, but no one stepped up. $10K for a Paul Pope cover is not supported by market facts, nor is $10K for anything SAGA. So I don't think anyone can so readily proclaim the Ghost variant cover is an "easy" $10K. But, again, all it takes is one. I think that it's the absence of data that makes this whole argument fun. I don't think that it's beyond the realm of possibility that this is the only saga OA that will ever be released/exist. As such, there are no real comps. This also makes the exercise entirely unsatisfying because no one can be wrong or right. For fun though (and because you're local and generally awesome), Felix- I'll bet you dinner at Chez Pannisse or Gary Danko that the ghost variant sells for over 7.5k if it goes in sale in the next 9 months.
  2. Don't see it and would even go so far as to say "no chance". $5K would be a stretch. So an RRP can sell for $1200 and there are 500 of them. There is only one piece of Saga OA. Those are my points. Maybe the RRP is overvalued? In relative terms, I would agree. But we're not talking about the RRP cover, nor are we talking about Fiona Staples' art. New Paul Pope art doesn't sell for five figures. OA guys don't typically pay five figures for new art unless it's by an established superstar artist with a more well-known subject. Modern comics guys don't typically pay five figures for OA when they can collect slabs for much less. I could be wrong and there's someone out there willing to pay $10K for the cover. All it takes is one. But for now, I don't see it. Felix, As crazy as this sounds, I think I'm going to agree with the Pasta Pimp on this one because of this: I don't think that an OA guy would end up with the piece. I think that a fanatic Saga head would make a move on it. It would, in no way, surprise me if one of the people who is dropping $1,200 - $1,500 on a Saga RRP has the funds to go to 5 figures. I certainly think that 5k is the low side. Just my thoughts.
  3. Modern fast track dated 1/16 shipped on 1/31 :-) Modern fast track dated 1/22 when into graded today :-) My Baltimore modern invoice also shipped today :-(
  4. Hmm... and I thought Image wasn't doing 2nd prints of established titles anymore...
  5. i know this has been said several times, but where is the misspelled one located? When i check the registry under Saga 1, i only find the one RRP entry. (though there is a saga with nothing in it that just says error when its clicked on, as well.) Hey buddy, Check here: http://www.cgcdata.com/cgc/customissues.asp?title=Saga&issuestart=0&issueend=99999&yearstart=2012&yearend=2012 BTW- this resource is awesome! Looks like Blue: 9.8 - 65 9.6 - 14 Yellow: 9.8 - 26 9.6 - 2
  6. It's been covered a few times in this thread, but I guess it's worth repeating: CGC made a label mistake, so there are 2 census entries for the RRP. A combined count was posted earlier in this thread.
  7. I think if the blue hits 1100 someone will pull the trigger and get the yellow. Yellow sold at $1500... It did not. But it was fairly close Nice sale!!!
  8. That cameo was awesome. It was a fun read. Nice to see things picking up with a vengeance!!! I'm looking forward to more Sweets!!! Glad I bought this when it was available: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=864875
  9. Honestly, after starting Millar's last few books, I am NOT excited about this title. I started Super Crooks and The Secret Service and made it through 2 issues of each. I thought both were NOT good. Count me out on this one.
  10. Looks like chew and saga got a ton of love :-)
  11. I don't think that the seller was a boardie. I think it was Bill Crabtree, who did work on Invincible.
  12. I think that the proof is in the pudding. People may have an issue with Mark's prices, but Mark sure seems to be selling a lot of pages and covers at these prices. Charlie's been working on the book for 100 issues. Given the volume of art that Charlie's produced, Mark's inventory really isn't that big. People can criticize Mark all they want for his prices, but his prices should (yes, I chose the word should) be set to get the most money for Charlie that he can. That's Mark's job. If Mark's prices resulted in minimal sales, then I think that the criticism would be fair (and the pricing would keep money out of Charlie's pocket). This does not appear to be the case.
  13. I don't know if I agree with that. I think that his best stuff gets sold to people who ask for it and buy from him consistently. I've met Rob once and he seems fine selling stuff to me. I don't really consider myself a "insider" or someone with "deep pockets."
  14. haven't been keeping up with this book. Tony should sue whoever did the sex change operation. What issue are you on? I'll bring you what you need to get caught up...
  15. I'm surprised that page 7 is still available... that's a great page... http://robguillorystore.com/chew_issue30.html
  16. Sad.... http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=964670&GSub=127356 and http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=964672&GSub=127356
  17. I know the seller. I am sure that he wasn't shilling. I can't guarantee that a buyer wasn't on crack though No disrespect to your friend, just that the buyer only had a "7" feedback rating and I thought it was insane for an eBay noob to drop $1800 on a book worth probably 1/4th of that (IMHO). Yeah, I understand. Still, if you track the bid history, there were 3 different bidders at the end. The feedback on one was 26 and the feedback on the other one was over 2000. Do I think it's kinda crazy? Sure, but we've seen crazier. I just hope that my buddy gets paid (and that he's buying drinks the next time I see him).
