  1. That's such a great book. But I have a hard time looking at that cover. Every time I do, I'm afraid I'll start collecting pre-code horror.
  2. Killer books. I love the Kane covers in particular. He drew great dinosaurs.
  3. I'm impressed. That's a great run of books. And one of the great runs in Marvel history. It's hard to believe that #158 is over 30 years old now.
  4. I have a Microtek scanner. For some dumb reason, Microtek was really slow with updating their scanning software for new Mac OSs. Or they stopped updating altogether. I'm not sure - I stopped looking after months and months. So I had to buy VueScan which seems to work with just about any scanner and any Mac OS. And VueScan has free updates too. I'm really happy I bought it. The scans are way better than what I got with Microtek's software. And I don't have the frustration of waiting for Microtek's updates.
  5. According to the HP website, the 8250 is compatible with Macs and OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion). Here's the link.
  6. Congratulations, Eric!I just saw this now. Killer books, and not an easy feat.
  7. 2 pre-screen value invoices from 8/30 changed to "Graded" today. This time, I'm going to count the days until they ship.
  8. A couple new arrivals. The first from CGC. The second from the Virtual Comic Con.
  9. +1 I've saved a ton of money on shipping since I opened a FedEx account a few years ago, especially on larger shipments. And the precise tracking is a nice bonus. As many times as I complained to Eric about it, I wonder why he did not mention this alternative shipping? You are right about that. For years I did not know you could specify an alternative carrier. I don't know why but they don't seem to offer this info unless you ask. I can't imagine why they would care ? The option to use your own FedEx account has been on the submission form for as long as I can remember. I stupidly waited years to open an account.
  10. +1 I've saved a ton of money on shipping since I opened a FedEx account a few years ago, especially on larger shipments. And the precise tracking is a nice bonus. How much does fedex charge for single cgc book or big box of 30 cgc? Is it cheaper than the usual UPS $10 &$2 each additional? The last 11 pound box from Sarasota to NY was $17.07. There were 11 slabs in the box. On CGC's website, they list $36 for registered mail on 11-15 books. And insurance is extra. As Transplant recommended, I use my CIA policy for insurance. You can go to FedEx.com and get a quote to figure out other variations.

  12. My 8/23 submission is still listed as "graded". This is getting to be wildly_fanciful_statement. How are submissions, sent in after my submission, getting graded and sent back already? What happened to them processing them in order of arrival? They really need someone to kick them in the or help pulling their heads out of their asses. It does not appear they have any idea of what is going on inside their building. I have some pre-screen value invoices from 8/30 that haven't been graded yet. While other invoices from the same day have been graded and shipped. It is kind of puzzling.
  13. Pre-Screen Modern invoice from 8/30 shipped today. Woo hoo.
  14. 1 Modern invoice from 8/30 changed to "Graded' on the website. 2 Pre-Screen Value invoices from 8/30 still "Scheduled for Grading" even though 2 other Pre-Screen Value invoices from the same day have been shipped and received.
  15. All raw. I don't know anybody else crazy enough to pay the slabbing fees for these. Speaking of crazy, I have some bronze Kid Colts and Two Gun Kids on the way back from CGC too.
