  1. Board member alerted me to this... I could not say no... finally on sale. https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Architecture-Skyline-Collection-Building/dp/B0793JTRKG
  2. That's what ticketmaster tried. There was something in the agreement that said that they did not have to automatically refund if it was "postponed", only if it was cancelled. They caught hell for that this past spring. Eventually they refunded.
  3. I am thinking of submitting something into Romita Jr for a remarque... I wonder what would happen if I shipped that down to Florida with the slab?
  4. I bought a $500 Timely from Kevin. He was very easy to work with and he facilitated a smooth transaction. The package came a bit mangled but due to his packing the slab, and more importantly the book, were in tact. Many thanks and looking forward to doing business with you in the future.
  5. In transit... $30 + shipping. I might keep the snoopy one for myself and sell off the Jalopy to offset the cost. I think it will clean up nicely. I need to remove the dark spots on the tongue with a q-tip and some soap and water. The important thing was that it worked. This seller made me a decent offer and guaranteed that it worked... so I can take care of the rest. On top of that, the box was in excellent shape.
  6. I have a lot happening at once... promise I will get to everyone..
  7. What does the contract for shipping say? I honestly have no idea since I have not seen the contract for shipping at a freight level. Also, as Jay said, consider the turnaround times from submittal to shipping, what does the contract say about fees if fees increase during that time period? They have been known to upcharge invoices so is there something about shipping? I honestly do not know. I have never shipped more than 15 books in my entire submittal history with CGC so I have always used the USPS regular mail. I honestly never gave it a thought.
  8. I underestimate myself... Frisky the Frog made by Fisher Price. My dad knows what I am doing and he said the name was Hoppy the Frog or Happy the Frog... but no knowledge of who made it or how long it was around.
  9. I need this... need one by Christmas. Anyone recognize it? This picture is from 1971. the first Christmas that my parents spent togther... it was one of the first things my parents got for Christmas... they have a thing with frogs... they think they are cute. I think I want one to give them one when they find out about me putting everything to digital. I would like this to be in the physical gift with directions to the facebook page / or whatever platform I decide to use.
  10. Aside from the McFarlane signing where I sent in 3, the most I usually send in are ten books at a time.
  11. I am 550+ files in using the Kodak Scanza... I actually like now that I have gotten the hang of it. The idea is to figure out a way to create a family group only facebook page and to upload them into albums so the remaining members of the family can comment and reminisce in photos of their choice. Originally I was going to create a group but I cannot seem to have dedicated albums. Then I thought about a fan page but that was too public. So, as of now... I am going to create a personal page for my deceased Grandmother and Grandfather as if they were alive so facebook does not knock it out... and then keep it private until Christmas when I can then invite all remaining family members to become friends with them. I will be distributing compilations of the raw files in the end. As far as touchups go... they can do what they want... I am not going to make them perfect save perhaps a few of them. This is incredibly tedious. My dad is in on this as we have to kind of gaslight my mom into thinking she threw out their personal slides if she notices that I removed them. I think there are only a couple of thousand to go
  12. Kav can design his store the way he wants. I will design my store the way I want. You are free to consider all of your options and make your own decisions as far as what works for you. It's not an argument that needs to be made... it is merely suggestions. But, I don't think you are drawing in comic book collectors, so asking a board full of comic book collectors is kind of a one viewpoint perspective, if you look at it from a common man retail perspective, how many customers are actually bothering to sort through messy shelves versus how many people are willing to give something a glance if it is nice and neat and presentable? I may very well be wrong, but I worked for Disney and a major retailer during the 90's while in college in basic retail and collectibles and animation art and stuff like that. Both business models always stressed presentability and perception of value to the customer. If the customer perceives it to be a value no matter the actual value, they will want to take it home. Come to think of it, even when I did a sting at McDonalds they had the same basic message, always make it presentable.
  13. Again... re-read And slabbing would be ridiculous. I stand by what I said and for the reasons I stated about perception in a retail environment. You are looking at it from a collectibility or value of a comic perspective. so... you do you you... I do me... Shadroch does him...
  14. The brick thing works... but I stand by what I said... as I unfortunately echo a retail boss I had in college. If I see that someone doesn't care for something or it looks like trash then why would I want it? Sure you will get the occasional person to pick something up, but the majority of people want to feel as if they are bringing something home that is of value. I agree with what @jsilverjanet suggested. Perhaps with new books you can get away with it due to their stronger paperstock. Older books will get shredded if unbagged and they are allowed to be flipped through.
  15. Not true... because a manhandled dollar book is not something attractive. Sometimes it is not what something 'is' but what it is perceived as. If I come across a box of beat up newsprint, I am not as drawn to go exploring as if they are neat and presentable. This is why even dollar stores spend money on employees to clean and organize the shelves. There is a difference between something that is worth a dollar but looks like it is worth 50 cents and making it presentable and making it look like it is worth $2 even though it is only worth $1.
  16. Basically he felt that Disney hired him as a token to showcase diversity without actually giving him anything to do as the series progressed. He basically feels that Disney hired him to stand around and "be black" so they could market that. Here is the exchange between he and Rappaport who originally challenged him and initially basically said, "That's Hollywood." meaning, your roles are often cut more than they initially told you. Boyega told Rappaport that he missed the point entirely. Here is the actual exchange that is being reported and that the OP in this thread must have either missed or ignored. https://thesource.com/2020/09/03/john-boyega-silences-michael-rapaport-for-saying-he-should-be-grateful-for-star-wars/
