  1. The main point of reference (I believe) is a photograph of Mulberry Street in NYC from Jacob Riis circa 1890 form "How the Other Half Lives" While this is not the Great Depression per se, there are other parts of the Romita Jr splash (and now that I see it, Kirby) that borrowed from or were influenced by certain historical images. I've seen them before when having to go through records or historical information about the time period. There are elements of those other photos from historical accounts that we have of the 1930's that you can see made their way into the image as well as a few scenes from the Godfather parts 1 and 2. EDIT: As I compare, Kirby seems to take more cues from Riis than Romita Jr does...
  2. From Entertainment Weekly's Twitter Feed... You get $15 for your draft. Who are you picking and why? $15 no more. You get all the resources that come with the character. So Iron Man gets you all of his wealth and resources but does NOT get you Pepper Pots, War Machine, Hogan, SHIELD or things like that. Me? Black Panther $4 - and all of Wakanda's Resources. Dr Strange - $4 Scarlet Witch - $2 - Thought that this was a bargain at $2 considering what she could do and was actually my first pick. Thor $5 - I need a 'Tank'
  3. I looked at this as price paid in relation to what it is probably worth in relation to what it is / what you received. $100 Full page splash from the Romita Jr Captain America run. Young Steve Rogers walks out of his abusive house onto the street during the Great Depression. The image used several real life photos traditionally associated with the time period. JRJR packed a lot of detail into this page and definitely did his homework.
  4. I would not add a signature to it at all to be honest.
  5. They are highly encouraging it for US Sellers. However, they are not allowing sellers that use managed payments to also use the eBay Global Shipping Program. That is highly alarming since they are two in-house eBay designs. Without GSP, I will be cutting off international sales.
  6. I mentioned I would post something that I received in the mail. As much as I have been selling off a lot of Joes there were a couple of things I still wanted to save... I did the FSS Series 3 wave and saved the Frostbite figure in the hopes of one day getting a Snow Cat. I meant what I said that the 25th vehicles are by far better designed than their vintage brethren. The modern Snow Cat (Wolf Hound) sports Snow Cat stickers regardless of what they want to call it. Here are the upgrades. Missile rack is finally sturdy - the clips will not easily break Missile rack has a sliding firing mechanism the overall feel of this piece is more sturdy. Smokey black canopy weathered look Rear wheel wells are finally a matching white to the front wheel wells. The vehicle did not come with Frostbite so I will put him aside for now and let Frostbite have his wheels back. The Snake Eyes figure came from the Greatest Battles five pack which was pretty tricky to track down. I was not paying the premium for the set as Snake Eyes was the only one I wanted. The sculpt borrows from few other molds with a few new parts but has the nice black finish with highlights that pop in an almost homage to the Golden cover of GI Joe Yearbook 2. These might be the last Joe toys I purchase for a very long time... but glad to finally have them for now.
  7. To put this in perspective for myself included... who cares about our comics and toys? My mom asked me if the mail was slow because she knows I am always shipping things and getting things in the mail. When I asked why she told me that they were waiting on pills that help regulate their health. They were not anything major.. just stuff cheaper through the mail due to my dad's health care retirement plan. The pills only came a day or two late but I can only imagine what is going on with those waiting for essential packages with serious health issues.
  8. I already addressed this but I will run the scam past you in the long from. Perhaps I did not explain myself well enough. (No sarcasm here) Printing your labels. Let's say that you are the seller and are to ship a book. If you print the label from PayPal or eBay without alteration then whatever the buyer entered into the system is the exact address that will print out on your label. There is no dispute as to where you sent it to. In fact the eBay system and PayPal system is set up that if you alter that address in any way it will automatically warn you that you are not protected as a seller. If you add an apartment number it can detect the chance. If you change Avenue to Ave, it will detect a change. No alterations will go through without alerting PayPal to the change. If the buyer says that he never received it, well then not only do you have proof of delivery due to the tracking number, you have proof of delivery to the exact address that the buyer entered as their address. (You also get a discount through eBay and PayPal on postage) Handwriting or using USPS.com or any other place where you print it separately from eBay or PayPal. Let's say that you ran out of ink, or you just can't get the computer working or for whatever reason you hand write the address and pay for postage at the post office. No? Okay let's say you decide to buy postage at USPS.com. Just submitting the tracking number doesn't really do you any good. Here is why. When you send your package to me and I see that handwritten address, I can instantly claim that I did not receive the package. Now you will say that you have a receipt and that shows proof. Not really. It shows proof that you sent it to an address at that zip code. It does NOT prove that you sent it to MY address. Maybe you wrote the address wrong. Maybe you mixed up a number. Maybe a porch pirate took the parcel and the buyer honestly believes he did not receive it. In any event you cannot prove that you wrote the address on the package that is on file with PayPal. Your word? Your word is not good enough. You can adjust this scenario to unscrupulous buyer and seller by adjusting a few details. Printing your labels from eBay or PayPal directly from them removes one less possibility of fraud from your transaction. There have been plenty of people in this very thread that have lamented about the situation that I described and that eBay or PayPal sided with the buyer because the package was not received. When you print the label from them, it is what it is. So, respectfully here, do you see what I am saying?
  9. Regular accounts are $750 - but let's continue to argue over $100 Following the signature confirmation threshold link... Outlines it for each country.
  10. If you print your labels it does it automatically.
  11. ELL OH FRICKEN ELL about you and issues and doing things the way you do them. Way to go with the selective memory on your history. 1 - I misspoke when I said insurance. I should have said, 'signature confirmation' which was where I stated the $750 threshold. You misquoted when you said $850. So yes, I was thinking signature confirmation but wrote insurance. I was wrong there. 2 - Now, proof of delivery. By printing the labels off of PayPal it allows PayPal to generate the label with the address supplied by the buyer. If you change anything on that label. If you change "Avenue" to "Ave" you will see a word suddenly appear that will say that this will not be entitled to seller protection. I learned of this when a buyer bought something and asked for me change the address for them. When I tried to do that, that message flashes on. Now if you handwrite your packages like a luddite and need to supply a tracking number that's proof of shipment but not really to the exact address that is of the buyer. As we have seen, PayPal and eBay will very often side with the buyer. We also know that they view the seller as responsible for delivery from the point it leaves possession to the point of delivery. If you do the handwritten thing you cannot prove that you did not transpose a number. You cannot prove that you sent your $500 item to 233 Main Street instead of 223 or 323 Main Street. That is why you print labels.
  12. Unless you printed the label from eBay or PayPal you are on the hook. If you transposed the tracking number that tells me you didn’t buy your label through PayPal since it would have been automatically generated Did you take insurance out on it? Packages over $750 need to have insurance on them otherwise you are not following the terms that protect you in a PayPal dispute. You might very well be on the hook here.
  13. Yup... Darin knows I have no respect for him and that he should stay away from my listings. I will not ship anything to Aliquippa... He pops up every now and then under a new name but the address is the same.
  14. @F For Fake The Matt Trakker figure... I had it... sold it... once I bought one back, I opened it... it's going nowhere. It's an amazing figure and something that could have been explored a bit more. It's funny, I have enjoyed the 25th vehicles more than the vintage ones. In many cases they were reimagined from the ground up and built with sturdier with a better design. For example, the 25th Water Moccasin is superior to the vintage one in every way, from sturdier steering vanes, to a dedicated gunport where things won't get trapped inside, to a larger boat overall where no is too crammed in. I am listing books online... but I will dig out one of my recent "Corona Purchases" and take a picture later.
  15. I am at a loss for words that the ToyScout thread was removed. There was some great stuff in there. @Lightning55 I received the notification but never saw the post. LMK if it was something urgent. Now I have to find a new thread to rant about my TV...
  16. Listing things on CLink right now at list prices over GPA

  18. This is just my opinion... I believe that the absence of SDCC will further dissolve collected cons like SDCC or a NYCC. Pre-Feb 2020 Hasbro, the largest toy producer at these types of shows, has a low key (compared to NYCC and SDCC) 'con' themselves called Hascon. This is where they celebrate their intellectual properties such as Transformers and GI Joe and licensed ones such as Star Wars. Hasbro makes an appearance at SDCC but in recent years deemed NYCC not worth the expense to be on the show floor but rents space elsewhere in the city hosting their own event during, but not associated with, NYCC. Disney has been gravitating away from SDCC for years now shifting a lot of their announcements and celebrations to the D23 Event. Video games have been shifting some of their focus away from SDCC and focusing a lot of energy at the Tokyo Game Show, Blizzcon, and E3. I don't even play video games and I am aware of Tokyo and E3 as they pop up on my radar. So where do I think this is headed? SDCC became TOO big. It became too wide spread embracing too many genres. It's becoming TOO cost prohibitive for a company like Hasbro to do both SDCC and NYCC so they created their own show and send representatives to D23. I am NOT saying that SDCC is over, not by a long shot, but I have the following questions: Is SDCC sustainable as the con that does it bigger and better? Are retailers in an economic downturn going to continue to pay the pricing that someone else's con demands? Pre-Feb 2020, there were companies that were already drifting away from devoting as much time and resources as they have in previous years... I see that trend continuing. I see more devoted cons in our future and a contraction of SDCC. SDCC will try to double down on 2021 to bring people back. However, I think that these companies are going to plan or align themselves with more of their own devoted events. So, I foresee a contraction of the largest pop culture con for the next few years. Maybe I am wrong.
  19. Since I wrote these comments, yet again Desert Wind was involved with another incident as we discovered at NYCC, once again proving to me that they have no business being in this game. Thankfully other people fixed their mistake. I would NOT recommend Desert Wind in any capacity.
  20. Nope... you snooze you lose rules are in effect. I have had that happen as a buyer AND as a seller on eBay AND Comic Link. As a seller I have had someone make an offer to me. While I COUNTERED the offer someone came in and bought it at full ask. In another case someone else made a BETTER offer. As a buyer, I have made an offer only to be notified by eBay within an hour or two it sold to someone else who made a better offer. EDIT: To make sure I am clear about this, I am not talking about a post-commitment deal. If someone accepts the offer on eBay or CLink you are bound to honor the deal. If someone submits and offer and you submit a counteroffer, that item is still up for grabs in the system. So long as the item is still available, someone can swoop in and grab it by CLink's rules and by the manner to which the eBay system is set up.
