  1. I was talking about in Texas. I noticed that they sold out around here a little late to the game but not that late... three weeks ago. Why does it seem that working from home somehow translates to working more than I was at the physical location of work? How did that happen? WTFrig?
  2. Sending some info from NY... however crazy it is now... wait and see... it is about to get crazier. You can gauge how bad your area is by checking to see if floor freezers are sold out at major appliance stores and best buy. Once I saw that those were sold out I noticed that the grocery stores were not only filled with people but that things became rapidly depleted.
  3. Pearls Before Swine has been published for almost 20 years.
  4. I am hoping you are right. Are there any other publishers / printers are reporting problems?
  5. Glad you said that before I did. The most alarming thing to come out of this from my perspective is that Diamond would appear to be cash poor in this situation. The chain is 'that' weak from studio to buyer.
  6. Speaking of essential... I needed some fresh air and went on a bike ride for an hour.
  7. For more recent strip cartoonists, I urgent you guys to check out Stephen Pastis' Pearls before Swine. It's like if Calvin and Hobbes, the Far Side, and Bloom County had a child and no one knows who the father is.
  8. @Bookery and @lighthouse CGC tweeted this yesterday about the comic book legal defense fund... don't know if this helps you in any way. http://cbldf.org/2020/03/how-the-cares-act-helps-retailers-creators-other-comics-businesses/
  9. Over in Gold they say that he did indeed sell it years ago and that the buyer is currently decided to pass the collection off to someone else. Levine had a stroke a number of years ago and that seems to be the time period in which he originally sold the collection. EDIT: The second thread is a bit more informative with the information you guys might be seeking.
  10. At the very least the world has moved the time schedule up for the death of printed media.
  11. I had mentioned that this would happen. However, I am surprised that it was one of the big two. I figured that independent publishers would do this first out of necessity in order to get their product out there and pay off their artists and writers. Perhaps after the change in leadership over at DC that things are not as financially sound in the comics department as we are led to believe.
  12. And with that this morning... two coworkers are now confirmed cases. Two more are or were sick with 'something' and a fifth person who was in the hospital is supposedly being released soon. 3,743 days to go.
  13. I was comfortable with what I paid for these two... I don't see the Chambers of Chills 1 often so I figured at $150... why not? Frontline Combat was a, "why not?" purchase. I might pass that on to someone else down the road.
  14. Rundown was another fun movie and shows Dwayne's promise as to what would eventually come. Walken is phenomenal in calling all of the indigenous people, "Oompa Loompas".
  15. I finally watched the first Hobbes and Shaw the other night. I was entertained and I laughed a few times. That's all I want from a movie like this. I am in the middle of Manchester by the Sea. I am looking for a different experience with that. So... bring on Hobbes and Shaw 2.
  16. The accommodate this when you sell your books through them via the exchange. Every book I have listed on the exchange has a front and back cover scan.
  17. I am mostly spectating... I picked up the Chamber of Chills 1 2.5 though as a novelty... Not seeing anything that super appeals to me. I should have bid a bit stronger last month on a few things... The Cap Books spread out amongst Heritage and ComicLink was overwhelming... I underbid thinking I would catch something at a discount given the opportunity across the field. I didn't
  18. I was just returning... he had a stroke about five years ago. I don't know how that plays into the collection though except maybe it is a simple case of 'been there done that and there are other things that command my focus."
  19. The last time we brought up the Wheels are in Motion thread, I believe someone said he had become ill at one point. Maybe at his age he just wants to be done with it?
  20. I did a five figure book once... I wanted to do it through CLink but the back cover scans scared me away after I lost in an auction for the book I was looking for. I wound up buying what I wanted through Heritage. Now most of my purchases are in the 3-4 figure range. On four figure books I can tell you that when they are in the office if you can and are nice on the phone sometimes they will pull the book and answer questions about it. I must admit though, by doing so and calming my questions about a book it led to me purchasing it. Had they not, I would have walked away which is why I imagine I got a couple of books at well below GPA.
