  1. Even when I send books to Joey, I ask to use my account, simply because I don't want to bug him with the status of my books or what is going on. On top of that CGC has made mistakes before. In one incident they put the wrong labels in my order on the wrong books. In another case they missed two things that I knew that they missed and I had them move the book from a green label incomplete to a purple label complete. Now imagine if that is under Joe's account. Why should have to trouble him with that? By having it under my account my problems were mine and no one else's.
  2. No... you should never do it through a store. Do it yourself... I do not understand why this is still a question. Packing and handling - The boards have always agreed that the more you transport something the greater the chance of incident for damage to befall it. Why involve a third party? Theft - There is always the chance that the comic store will swap out your books or feign ignorance as to where they are. Such is the story of Blu Entertainment in Amityville on Long Island. This store owner made the local news for being less than honorable in many ways. https://www.yelp.com/biz/blu-planet-comics-and-games-massapequa 1 - You guys remember the guy that said to people online that he hoped they died of a certain disease that attacks the immune system after something involving Magic the Gathering cards. https://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/02/26/blu-planet-comics-vs-reddit/ 2 - Some of us heard from upset former customers that he was swapping out or outright stealing CGC books that his customers were submitting. 3 - My LCS and I had a laugh about him after he moved stores to Massapequa and after losing the lease on his personal place and then the lease on the store was found sleeping in the store by the local sheriff. Send them in yourself. Seriously.
  3. And there are admittedly MANY of you in that camp. But all it takes are a few that are willing to try it to get their 'fix'. Then the question is, how many stay with digital? That's why I believe that this event is going to lose more ground for not only printed comic books but for brick and mortar to begin with. My Amazon Fresh order came to my doorstep at 6am btw. I could see myself occasionally placing more orders in the future even after all this passes. That's a loss for the local supermarkets.
  4. They are encouraging bad behavior by showing the eBay padded envelopes in the picture almost urging inexperienced sellers to send them out in those things...
  5. I think the biggest thing that will come out of this will be the expedition of the death of print media and the permanent increase in online shopping vs brick and mortar. I don’t think that Marvel is going to shut down. I don’t think that DC is going to shut down. I think that within a month Marvel comics is going to offer Amazing Spider-Man (2018) #43 via digital. People who want to read their new comics are going to be forced to switch to digital. Now, many are going to say they won’t do that... they will never do that. Well I hate to break it to you but that is the only way you are going to get your books for the next few months. Now the question is, when whatever percentage of people switch to digital for the next few months get used to reading their comics this way, how many are going to continue using that platform? Some will never go back. Online shopping is definitely the only way to get things right now. I guarantee you that there are people using online shopping now in ways they usually used brick and mortar. I’ve placed two orders with Amazon Fresh in the last couple of weeks. I never did that before. I will probably continue to do so every now and then even once all of this ends. I get very busy sometimes and it is a real chore to do food shopping when I have limited time. Last year the fed released the stats on online shipping and I believe it was that in April 2019 more people were shopping online than in a brick and mortar. That’s when the table starting leaning toward online shopping. Now the table has been flipped and some will never switch back.
  6. Duke Version 8 Even though the figure was released in the year 2000 it is based off of parts molded in 1991 when the original figure was released in 92'. https://www.yojoe.com/action/00/duke8.shtml This was the time period sometimes referred to as GI Joe: The Lost Years.
  7. You guys didn't have siblings? My brother and I put each other in the emergency room numerous times... Good times... good times...
  8. My understanding of IP law is that if a company is made aware that someone is using their IP without consent even for a just cause they MUST toss that individual or violating entity a C & D. If not, then they run the risk of another company using their lack of maintenance of the IP as a precedent to use it for their own means in a manner which MAY damage the IP. This is why when Hasbro is at SDCC or another major con they walk around with their eyes closed to the 3rd Party infringement when it comes to Transformers. There was one year at a Transformers convention where someone actually walked up to Hasbro and asked them what they thought of the 3rd Party Transformers / Bootleg Transformers in the room. Upon someone formally bringing it to their attention they had no choice but to contact the showrunner and have those particular vendors remove their goods. It was a "thing" a few years ago. Hasbro knew that they were there but they did not officially 'know' they were there until someone brought it to their attention.
  9. You can put a couple of books in a smaller type of blanket and then swing them at people causing grave harm to their personal being. Think of it like putting a block of soap in a sock and then repeatedly hitting someone with it until the lapse into unconsciousness.
  10. One thing I have wondered about GPA is the rise and fall of books considering trends in collecting. When I was a kid I saw a great emphasis on creators increasing the value of the book. These days it seems to have adopted the viewpoint of baseball cards and rookies (1st appearances) are what people are striving to obtain. As this trend continues I would not be surprised to see that values for "The first Neal Adams" book or first Adams on title stay the same or decrease over time as first appearances of even minor characters continue to rise in value. Does anyone have comparative data on that?
  11. That 6" Snake Eyes deluxe figure was so nice that I actually kept it in the package... The presentation with the slipcase and the design on the box were enough to get me to say, let it be. I will pick up a general release at some point. I really liked the presentation of this figure. Usually I open everything.
  12. I was asking more along the lines of what Massachusetts is doing. I would never suggest having a firesale. Are you allowed in your own store during this time period? Here in NY, at least by me, closed is 'closed'. Having bought from you over eBay, (before I knew you were you) I would imagine that a lot of the things that you have sold online are kept at the store. Can you at least keep that going on in the meantime? There is a local store around here that seems to have closed their eBay presence as well since it seems that they are not operating out of their own store in any capacity. I do not know if something like that is voluntary or mandated.
  13. Your inventory is very diverse though. Are you allowed to work IN your store to have access to everything so you can at least go strictly mail order?
  14. @greggy Update...they called me around 10am. Village Hall is closed for the foreseeable future so the permits are unobtainable right now. They are holding $7,000 of my money right now which was for the downpayment of on the supplies and everything else. The entire job was to cost around $22,000-$23,000. They do not have a projected start date. Worse than that though, the company temporarily laid off their employees including my service representative. I asked if he was alright and he said that they were told to hopefully be out of work for no more than 8-10 weeks. I don't know how guys like my service rep are expected to get by like this.
  15. You couldn't if you tried. Like I said, my response was to Jolly's comments. Keep at it though. This is afternoon entertainment.
  16. No threat was made. Read what I said. Now, comprehend it. You started and you continue. Knock your nonsense off. You were initially wrong. I was never replying to you in regards to my first comment. You made a mistake. Deal with it.
  17. Not invited on either account... I wonder how widespread everything is.
  18. I have 151 items with watchers right now. I might send offers if I know that there is a coupon out there as well for a buyer to use. The ball is in eBay's court.
  19. My Aunt lives in Staten Island near the mall. She watched her neighbor removed from their home by people in hazmat suits. I mentioned what was going on at work earlier in this thread. One of my coworkers was admitted to the hospital and another says he has to wait 6-8 days for his test results. No one except one of the bosses has heard from another one of my coworkers who had the 102 fever. When asked she just said he was fine and she recently spoke to him. The worst part about today was watching my mom burst into tears over FaceTime. On an upside... my mom did learn about sending memes as I have discovered when I see I have a text message from her.
  20. Nah there is plenty of foul especially with that comment. I figure that any one of any rational sense would have realized that I was responding to JollyComics who posted "Three words: COVID-19 and Sales Tax." That was the comment that insinuated that prices were soft. I was spectating tonight and noticed that a book I am always looking to pick up multiples of hammered at a pretty strong price. When I looked at other ASM's they also seemed to be around the average. So despite Covid-19 and Sales Tax, I feel as if the prices were still strong. Yet, I guess you think it's all about you. So with that said, say what you want, and go have a snickers or something. We could continue this back and forth but we all know it's not going to go anywhere. You have made your mind up. But yeah, wasn't about you. So take a walk away from me for the rest of the evening.
  21. You need to seriously slow your roll there big guy. Maybe you need to take a walk outside and get some fresh air or something. Make sure you know THIS TIME that this is directed to you there David.
  22. Did you see anywhere in that post I made that I quoted you? So... ease up there.
