  1. I seriously need to make a travel guide for the I really need to make a travel guide for comic collectors visiting New York. The first thing I will say is, SKIP the comic shops. Go to: The Metropolitan Museum of Art One World Observatory (OMG... I went about ten days ago and it was amazing... and I live here.) Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge (Take the ferry to the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn bridge, walk across and THEN go to the Freedom Tower and Memorial) The Statue of Liberty (Tickets are probably booked to walk up to the crown - but you should still go to Liberty Island) Ellis Island (The US is a nation of immigrants... win some brownie points with me and take a pic of "BUZZETTA" engraved on the fence line honoring my family members) New York Yankee Post Season Baseball - The end of the regular season is in September... catch a game if the Yankees make the playoffs. Madison Square Garden - Take a Tour of MSG - Win MORE brownie points and take a picture between the Phish and Billy Joel banners. The Bronx Zoo - (Even in October it is worth it.) The Central Park Zoo - (Even in October it is worth it.) Want more ideas? Subscribe to: Thrillist New York City - Great guide for top rated places to eat and things going on that weekend New York Magazine - Best Places - Eating in NY is amazing. We are a nation upon itself of immigrants and everyone brings their best food. One Bite Everybody Knows the Rules: Barstool Sports Pizza Review - Portnoy is actually pretty spot on. John's of Bleeker & John's of Times Square are +++. "Alright Frankie, where are we?" Feeling adventurous? LONG ISLAND - There are many places you can take a trip out by train and then uber to come see... Speaking of which... make sure you have the following: Uber App Subway App LIRR App - You never know..., For the love of god though... you are in arguably the greatest city in the world. Stay the hell away from comic shops. You are basically wasting your time doing the equivalent of dumpster diving to hopefully find something that justifies all that time spent. Instead you could be seeing a city and experiencing it in a way that goes well above and beyond drawn figures in tights. Also... one more thing... Stay to your right.
  2. I am going to go back to cooking... Text me... if I need to immediately shut that down to watch the show.
  3. I am begging you to list the ways. If the anyone across the street has seen this thread then I am sure that everyone over on the CBCS boards is mocking us.
  4. This is going to be one hell of a digital divorce. I can't wait to see the judge determine who gets custody of the memes.
  5. OMG... How have I missed this? I wanna thank the boardie who texted me to let me know that @mattn792 tagged me. Thanks to both of you.
  6. CAK Supposed to rain again - so I’m doing this all inside today first batch is almost done house smells very peppery and oniony
  7. The White Lone Star box would not surprise me at all nor does it tank any claims for me. I have had similar situations with auction houses when it came to packing materials that raised an eyebrow along with a few things that they would be VERY embarrassed to have sent winning bidders. To extend the same belief that a grading company would do the same is not a stretch for me.
  8. I was out last night and thought I posted this. I caught it when Jessie originally posted the response which made it seem as if he had deleted it as the mod of the group before all the replies. It was only in the replies where it was suggested that the OP took it down once SB contacted him. I will be on and off today. Before anyone thinks I am pulling a disappearing act... I have a tailgate to start pre cooking for today.
  9. Here is the difference. We acknowledge that things like this happen. There are quite a few acolytes over there that can not fathom that such a thing might happen.
  10. Sounds like the woman at work that claims that since her relative smoked all her life and lived until a ripe old age that everyone else is wrong and cigarettes won’t harm her.
  11. I’m going to ask the Shadroch question... If the book was advertised at 9.2 You get the book at a 7.0 price What did the book come back at? what happens if the book came back a 8.0-8.5?
  12. The guy says he ordered slabs and showed the invoice. He showed the label indicating the weight of the package and showed that his sealed mylites were sent in a recycled MyComicShop cardboard slab mailer. On top of that, according to those that initially responded the signature series / verification series is only allow a to be placed in slabs and not supposed to be sent in mylites. They deleted it with a response that it should not be posted unless there is a chance for El Presidente to try and make it right. However as someone else pointed out that is a fan page and not one officially associated with the other guys. What is mind numbing are those that demand that the original poster was lying or demanding unobtainable or unreasonable evidence because the other guys can supposedly do no wrong.
  13. I know you said "no apple" but I use my iPad. Love the thing...
  14. If anyone else follows a certain FB group then you know what I am talking about. CGC "HAS" missed a defect on a book or overgraded... It has happened and they made it right. CGC "HAS" put the wrong label or stickers on the slabs... It has happened and they made it right. I do not ever recall CGC sending signature series books back to a customer in graded mylars and forgot to encapsulate them in slabs. KUDOS ! to CGC for always remembering to actually encapsulate the comics. If only everyone else in the grading industry could say the same.
  15. You want to watch people really get their hands all crazy? There was a book I wanted that the seller offered at auction with a starting bid of $125 and a Best Offer... I noticed it with 11 watchers. I made a best offer of $135. Seller accepted and I took it home. That was amusing to me. But I don't do auctions anymore... if that keeps some people away then so be it. I was taught something very early on the boards... almost EVERYTHING eventually sells at the price you want for it.
  16. Bidders that retract their bids usually do so for the following reasons: They realize that they might win and do not have the money. They are winning the auction then find that they can get it cheaper elsewhere and should not have bid too much. They are really seeking to be the underbidder (for now) and are testing out the high bid to see how far the high bidder is willing to take it. Pump up your own or your buddy's auctions / shill bidding For another reason that I cannot think of right now. This hobby of ours and the whole collecting thing by buying and selling on the internet is done on the basis of reputation. Our reputation is everything. When people bid and then retract their bids it gives the appearance of malfeasance of the seller's auctions. When ANYTHING goes on that seems awry in an auction we point a finger at the seller. I usually no longer do auctions, and on the rare occasion that if I do, I start them at a BIN price. I find that people that regularly bid and retract are a nuisance to a listing and should be blocked. They are not worth the trouble and should be avoided. They are wastes of space and time.
  17. Sometimes she is a willing partner in my nonsense... other times she is screaming and yelling at me for documenting what we’ve done to her hence the picture of her and I at a concert and another picture where she is about to hit me with a wooden spoon for a prank I pulled on her.
  18. They could have easily drilled the lock out and when they replaced the lock they might have pinned it to the original key to make sure they did not make a new pin and key that matches surrounding boxes... probably not a smart idea but it happens.
  19. Teriyaki Pineapple Chicken with peppers and onions served in pineapple boats with coconut rice. Sunday is for cooking.
  20. I am trying to find the right thread to post what I made for dinner last night.
  21. Anderson... he had a drop the mic post as well as a veiled 'go get your shinebox' post combined with a dash of seemingly FDQ exit ALL IN ONE POST.
  22. Exactly, you never see an amoeba lift up a protozoan for all to see while traditional African music plays orchestrated by Lebo M.
