  1. If you don't want to wait I will buy the book tonight and pay tonight for 1/4th the price. Wait... What book are we talking about?
  2. Five years later... This thread is still great... This thread and others like it represent the 'circle of life' of the boards.
  3. Another reason to keep a smaller collection but also to maintain your inventory in the registry. When I go to a show or am shopping at auction I defer to my registry to see which ASMs I might want to upgrade.
  4. It does until you find out that it's a Tardano situation all over again. I think the TMNT sale is legit though.
  5. You would have been a hero had you referred to him as Ta-Ta-Toothy.... or Robert A Booey.
  6. I was wondering if there are any other 10 year old plus threads that deserve to be continued... Just wondering...
  7. Understandable then. Well, if you want to be a participant in these boards then what you should have done was to start a brand new topic and fill it with half truths, call out people who disagree with you, make fun of them, exhibit no sense of humility, brag about your collection, and that we should know who you are, that you press books better than anyone else and can trim a book in a way that CBCS would never be able to tell, (but CGC could). THEN and only THEN will you be welcome with open arms. Kidding Welcome to the boards !
  8. I have always said that something is really only worth what the underbidder was willing to pay.
  9. I'm not bidding into the $90,000 range to begin with. If I have $90,000 to spend on Turtles 1 in 9.8 then I am buying a 9.4 for far less and then using that money in other areas. However, I always enter into the mindset that when it comes to comics, there will always be another one. I bid into my comfort zone. Sometimes that is a little depending on the book. Sometimes that is a lot.
  10. Interesting question actually... So let's imagine this scenario... Person A - Consigns FF1 to Heritage. Person B - Bids on FF1 Heritage uses the NP Gresham routine to bid the price up Person B - Taps out making NP Gresham (Heritage) the winner. Heritage loses their cookies because Heritage is on the hook for a payout to Person A Person A does not want to hear that a fake account (shill bidding through heritage) bid the book up to a point that a sale does not occur. Heritage contacts Person B and offers the book at the underbidder price. However, Person B spent their money elsewhere at the auction so they are no longer an interested party. According to this ten year old article. Heritage buys and owns the book. https://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/steve_duin/2009/09/lifting_the_veil_at_heritage_a.html Now... the real question is, does this practice still occur with Heritage buying their 'wins' and if so, how soon does that book hit the market again so Heritage can recoup its losses?
  11. And who might you be and why do you care about bumping a thread for YOUR VERY FIRST POST HERE 14 years after the fact to let us know that someone is running a cash business?
  12. How often do these books come up for sale from this collection? I might want one...
  13. The owner of the store MIGHT be a whack job. Maybe the owner of the store DIDN"T pay his taxes. Here is my only question... Did the IRS Agent try to shoplift? Everything else is irrelevant.
  14. If you are interested in any of them I would go to youtube and watch the reviews that people do. Some people will actually praise some of the KO's as there are rare instances where the molds were tweaked and improved on. In other cases they will point out whether or not it is on par with the Takara / TOMY / Hasbro release or whether or not it is inferior.
  15. I currently have MP Wheeljack, Gold Bumblebee, Tracks, Red Alert, Acid Rain and the second Hot Rod... I wound up selling Prowl, Grimlock, and 1st Rodimus and I have a yellow Bumblebee for sale. Wheeljack, Acid Rain and Red Alert were the only ones I opened. The "Lambor" mold is one of the earliest but most reliable and still impressive in comparison to where the technology is. MP Wheeljack is the only instance where the character was actually made 'right'.
  16. I have a copy of this book but only signed by Stan. It's a great cover to get signatures for.
  17. It is... sorry https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-1-mirage-studios-1984-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/7211-91091.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  18. I needed to have a window replaced as it was a VERY old window and caulk was just not going to work. I didn't want to rush into the problem because I had to eventually repair the wall around the window which I can do. (I easily play into the stereotype of an Italian American that has capable hands when it comes to masonry and stucco.) ANY-WHOOOOO.... While waiting to make some phone calls and see when my contractor guy could come swap out the window... I lined the whole thing with Flex Seal tape to keep out the water and create a temporary seal. It worked for the week I needed it to. I had a pipe with a crack that I immediately needed to seal up so I could assess the damage and fix it. Flex Seal Tape. I had used it several other places too as a temporary fix until the real job could be done.
  19. So... here is my burning question... Which one of you has to figure out where you are keeping it and when are your sales threads going to open up to offset the cost?
  20. That Flex Seal stuff though really works. It's no joke... You would be surprised what I have seen it used for with great success.
  21. Something came up and I will do that tomorrow.
