  1. There are two fools in that scenario. The winner and the underbidder that got the book to that point. Let's remember that somewhere out there is someone who was disappointed that they lost the book but unbeknownst to them dodged a bullet.
  2. I am starting to be somewhat swayed to what you stated to wrap my mind around what happened. The argument that restoration took place between CBCS slab and CGC slab is preposterous. I believe that CBCS missed the trimming but that CGC overgraded the color touch. The scenario has some merit where the buyer overpaid for the CBCS version then cracked and pressed it. When the book got a grade bump but came back restored the seller thought he would auction it and not lose as much as he did... at that point... he has no argument because the book is out of his hands. We may not have heard from him though because after he lost almost $9,500 he may have just taken a gun in a drunken despair / rage and offed himself.
  3. Meantime... I have big decisions to make... Beach or list things on eBay? Forecast says 86-87 but overcast... It sucks when you have off and everyone else is at work...
  4. I should have said CBCS Facebook Group. I sacrificed brain cells by even reading some of their comments and screenshotting them for here.
  5. Verification system was not working this morning either. No worries... As usual it's the new boards...
  6. See that's the unknown. Unlike a few blind apologists on the CBCS boards I am of the belief that both companies can make mistakes but I also believe it to be the same book. When I had an experience where CBCS missed something on a book that CGC found and that I saw on the comic, I shrugged it off and did not say anything because it was going back to a CGC holder anyway. I figured I would cash that chip in should I ever need to if it happened on another book. When I had an experience where CGC missed something on a different book and added a problem I knew did not exist, I raised the concern with them and it was sent in for regrading and they realized that they made a mistake and we all walked away happy. Both companies make mistakes. The puzzling this is that the book was sold. As I noted, CLink notes that the book sold in August of 2018 in its CBCS Holder. I cannot track down the date yet but the book ALSO sold on CLink in its CGC holder, obviously after it was graded by CGC. This means that whoever bought it in the CBCS holder and had it graded by CGC has since sold it. $9500 is nothing to sneeze at so I would love to know where the outrage is.
  7. Hey... The CBCS copy was graded first and was sold on 8/29/2018 for $10,405 LINK: http://comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?id=1268769 The CGC copy was graded on 4/16/2019 and was later sold on ComicLink at an unknown date for $869 (According to the verification system)
  8. You should see me off of these boards
  9. As soon as I read this all I could think of was, "Now go home and get your ******* shinebox."
  10. They could have used the $15/month vbulletin software and had a better structured forum. https://www.vbulletin.com/ For the CBCS lurkers... Seriously... it is quite a hodgepodge... there is a decent amount of useful information concerning the hobby over there... but you REALLY have to go digging for it.
  11. I am going to chalk it up to a misunderstanding and leave it at that since it is his and my first interaction with one another.
  12. I just got finished watching "The Boys" Garth Ennis plagiarized himself... fun watch... An 8 episode season was just right.
  13. And people want both companies to start notating pressing when they detect pressing...
  14. Serkis is an underrated talent. I would like to see what he brings to the director's chair for a superhero movie.
  15. I didn't win the page I REALLY wanted... I was the underbidder at $456 to the winning bid of $481... However I took home two other pages I was very interested interested in...
  16. Winner... winner... chicken dinner.
  17. The guy clearly lists that it is restored... so... shrug...
  18. Yup... BTW... if anyone heard screaming and yelling coming from the East that was me as I was the underbidder for the piece of art I wanted... I bid $456 and it went for $481... I threw in a cushion bid while I was winning at $375 and someone threw that last minute bid in after I did. I gotta time my cushion bids better.
  19. Now hold on... I have auctions to be fierce in...
  20. I have sold books that were in purple labels at auction and people bid them up to unrestored prices. At no point did I feel the need to stop the bidding and reach out to the buyers. If people want to have a contest because they cannot read or educate themselves that is on them. I am not going to start a Master Class on YouTube on comics buying. Again... this guy may have engaged in shady practices in the past... there is nothing wrong with the Hulk 181 listing except that he should say it's restored for a fourth time and put it in the title.
