  1. Eternal Warrior #4 CGC 9.8 1st Bloodshot. Still have it. I don't think I have made a new purchase on these boards since we changed over. I liked the view all button and never browsed again after it went missing.
  2. Blown away by the energy in S.A.N.T.O.S.. Antelope is always a treat and murmurs went around as we realize that we were still in Hood. Great show. I went Night 1 and was disappointed that I missed Night 3 after listening to it... this show more than made up for it.
  3. Once again - Happy New Year from MSG...
  4. He didn't block me from twitter but I did get one retweet. Bunch of you found me on IG - cool. But... nothing else... oh well.
  5. That's a great question and one that definitely deserves consideration. I guess you would take it as a case by case example. Groot - Original Character would be the 62' Creative team. However the Guardians of the Galaxy version is so far removed from that 1962 character that it can be considered a new creation. 62 Groot speaks while New Groot just says, "I am Groot" along with many other variances in abilities and characteristics with antagonist to protagonist among others. The core characteristics of the character have changed from 62 to current. Magnus Robot Fighter. I would disagree with you there. I have read all three incarnations from the Dell / Western, Valiant / Acclaim, and Dynamite series. At the end of the day Magnus retains his core traits across all three incarnations. He is a hero in the future who was raised by robots and now fights rogue robots to save humanity. Valiant changed the origin story a bit as him being born of Harbingers and then thrusting him into the future but Magnus (at least in my eyes) retains the essentials that maintain the core character unlike Groot.
  6. I also remember Toys R Us in 1987... We will never see anything like this ever again as retailers cannot devote the space to it.
  7. Just transferred $5,000 out of PayPal... Waiting for PayPal to call in 10...9...8...
  8. I just posted it in on Twitter and am going to move on to IG... @Mark 1, I wanna see if I get blocked too.
  9. Bob Layton was born in 1953 Iron Man was first published in 1963 Bob Layton's claims, if true would make him the most prolific 10 year old the comics community has ever seen. Now I need to repost this on Twitter and IG and tag him in it.
  10. My own stats - I just looked for the first time at my set in this manner. From AF15 to ASM100 I have one complete set graded. I have three sets of AF15 to ASM100 entered. My top set is complete with no resto and no signature series books entered into it. My three entries are presently ranked #34, #80, #132 However, it got me thinking that my incomplete second set could easily be beating someone with a complete set if they had a much lower graded AF15 or restoration in their books. For example Marvel Movers is ranked at #5 but only has 49% of the collection completed. Timely is ranked at #23 with only 2% of the collection complete. That guy has only two books. I am sure there is a higher grade AF 15 or number one in that obscured set. I have a completed set but do not have a single 9.8 amongst those books. What's my rank amongst 'completed' sets where the only criteria is that the set is 100% complete... I am #3 with only jjbjheartman and TheUrologist1 ahead of me as of the people ahead of me on the census, only two of them have a graded copy of every book and annual from AF15 to ASM100. Now, could the rest of those guys get a complete set? Sure... you could slab a page of a book these days to fill in a slot. However, as I only wanted blue label non signature series copies in my set and wanted minimum grades per certain areas of the run, they too have their own criteria. The registry is a documentation in my eyes of what I currently have and a great way to see where I have my books at... To each their own how they chose and choose to collection. However at this point in my life, I am upgrading a book a year. No need to go crazy after a certain point. For example, I have a few 9.6's and have no desire to spend the cash to get to a 9.8. However, there are a couple of books I would like to eventually upgrade like my ASM 10, 17 and a few here and there. If you look at my collection, linked in my signature line you can also see what books I've upgraded over the years. That in itself tells the story of how the collection has been built and maintained. Just some insight from someone that is part of the group and or numbers you guys are talking about.
  11. I think that is the problem when people who go to the movies cry foul over the costume ideas. The costumes in the comic books really don't translate well to reality. Magneto's definitely doesn't. Wolverine's might be passable there though... But, this is why Hollywood changes or tweaks the costume designs.
  12. Hm You could always go after at least one of every vintage figure... ...And if you've come this far, maybe you're willing to come a little further. You remember the name of the town, don't you?... (Wait, wrong movie...) Anyway... If you want to take it a step further you could then go for the best version of its modern counterpart...
  13. There will always be surprises but many of the toy manufacturers do. Hasbro announced a year's worth of Star Wars figures except for movie figures (to keep things under wrapped as per gag agreement with Disney) at Toy Fair and SDCC. They divide it all up. Lego just basically revealed everything from now until June of 2019 when they will then start revealing the next half of the year. You can always get a good idea of the six month plan for Marvel figures at Toy Fair and then again at SDCC.
  14. Thanks... another boardie texted me a question about the little booklet next to the pic of my brother and I with my grandfather. Take a look at that edit. THAT was a cool find in this house.
  15. Hoth Luke and the Snowspeeder comes to mind - Dad worked a part time job at Sears so he made that happen. Midway Pac Man immediately comes to mind as well... I believe that was the last gift I received from my Grandfather before he passed away. After he died, my grandmother moved out of Brooklyn and onto Long Island. When she passed I bought the house. I did a lot of things to make it my own but the China Cabinet is the I guess the tribute area. Whole cabinet with toys and things and memories from certain family members dating back to the 1930's. Close up of Midway PacMan... To the left of it is a picture of my brother and I with my Grandfather. This is the closest I will come to posting a pic of myself here. I am to the left if you are looking at the pic. (Left of your screen)... That's Lil' Andrew. Bonus. This thread evoked a nice memory as I just finished wrapping and boxing everything up before I head off to my parents house for a bit. So... bonus... thought I would share a pic of the tree and everything ready to go. As you can also see, I am a little lazy this year. I wrapped the contents of what is in those Amazon boxes, but I wasn't going to wrap the overall boxes themselves. See kids? This is why you should save those shipping boxes. You never know when you are going to recycle them. Have a Merry Christmas y'all... EDIT: Side note... Someone sent me a text asking what the little book is next to the picture frame. That was the prayer book that the army issued to soldiers in WWII. My grandfather was not what you would call a practicing Catholic by any means of the definition (and nor am I) but he kept that with him throughout WWII. I found it in the house when I was going through some of my grandmothers personal belongings and decided to showcase it.
  16. I stopped by this thread just because of the Ramones.
  17. I want to publicly thank you for saving me a LOT of time because I was about to do the same thing.
  18. You would think that this would hold true but... I do not think that the increase in ASM 31 is proportionate to the increase in popularity and media surrounding Spider-Gwen and Gwen-Pool. People are spending hundreds on first appearance variants of Gwen something another while ASM 31 has taken only a moderate increase. That's okay... I bought up a couple of more ASM 31's instead. On the other side of the coin... consider the 1st Groot. Was anyone really paying attention to that book prior to Groot becoming a Guardian?
  19. I like it and I am a Lego guy.
  20. In a meeting... the struggle is real - thank god for post-it’s and pencils
  21. As a private entity / person? No. I get why the government has had to in the past but not as a private person to a comic shop.
  22. I thought about asking him why he wasn't going to sell them off on eBay to any price in order to pay back the people he owes money to... but then I was afraid I would get kicked out of the group.
