Reinvention of 'Pay It Forward' Thread
I just want to gauge interest in starting up a new 'Pay It Forward' thread with a few revised conditions.
1) This will be a CGC Pay It Forward thread. This will help in a couple areas: easier to determine value of a book so there is less argument about whether an offering is "worthy." Past sales and GPA can be used to determine if book offerings are on equal footing. If a user doesn't subscribe to GPA, again, past eBay sales can be a solid indicator.
2) Tier structure:
Bronze - $1 - $50 book
Silver - $50 - $100 book
Gold - $100 - $200 book
Platinum - $200 - $500 book
I don't anticipate many Gold or Platinum entries, but if we make that tier available it will help potential users understand what they need to submit when taking a book.
The previous 'Pay It Forward' thread had almost 1800 pages of content: while there was a lot of tension at times it was a success for the majority of its existence. I hate the fact that is spiraled out of control and would like to bring it back if we can iron out the problems of the original thread.
I'd like to get suggestions and opinions on this!

I agree, absolutely beautiful, especially that virgin cover!

Just curious what was the buy ratio on this issue? Was it a 1:1000 or was it distributed some other way?

Anyone know a way to get a hold of Chad Garrett?
I've been trying to get a hold of him via comicartfans, but haven't heard a response.
Anyone know of an alternative way to get a hold of him?

Just now, Marwood & I said:

I don't see the request for the new Betty & Veronica sets in your 'queue' -- do I need to repost my request?

Your budget will get you a cover from Frank's recent run on Harley Quinn: Frank Cho at Big Wow Art
You can get Jay Anacleto's work from his rep, Kirk Dilbeck, on CAF: Three Wishes presents Jay Anacleto
Thanks, the covers I saw from Frank that I like are actually 2-3K higher than my budget. I'll check if his prices are negotiable :-)

I think most of the issues I've had have been resolved by the use of themes, but I still have a couple issues.
When loading a message that has several group members, about half the page at the top is full of the member list and their icons. I would prefer not seeing that.
Also, in the notification window, when you click a comment it takes you to the beginning of the thread instead of the comment you are clicking on. I would imagine that would be able to be fixed similar to the behavior of the forums.
Thanks for the hard work put into the site -- the transition hasn't been too bad :-)

Guess I have mostly modern tasts... mine would be:
J. Scott Campbell, Michael Turner, Frank Cho, Budd Root
If only there were more space...
Jay Anacleto, Adam Hughes, David Finch

I have about $5000 to spend and am looking for a stunner from one of these artists.

I'm trying to reach him about a piece of art on his comicartfans.com gallery, but it appears he doesn't access it too often.
Any help is appreciated.

So I done a little searching after wining this cover last night. I learned that it had originally sold back in Aug 2016 for $5050. Six months and back in and $2700. Just curious what do you guys consider for its value? I've heard it's dangerous to flip art like this and almost ends bad for a quick flipper. Again I'm happy, I feel bad for the seller though.
Just based on the little knowledge I have, I think a Turner cover value easily starts at $3500 mark. I think you got a fabulous deal.
I've asked several private collectors what they would need to part with a piece, and it's almost always been north of 4K.

Thank you Mollie for all you do!

My first time to play this game in a while.
Regular Modern (9 books)
Received 2/24/17
Verified 2/27/17
Wonder if things will bog down a little bit with an encapsulation machine unavailable in Sarasota for a few days because it (and some graders) was sent to Seattle for onsite grading at ECCC? Not to mention the impact of the extra submissions from ECCC, even with a chunk already having been done onsite.
Is that with fast track?

That's the purpose of this post... to see if we can eliminate the problems that cause the thread to get out of hand.
