  1. Now this would be a helluva mission. I don't say anything is impossible, but this is close.
  2. I have no idea, but I'm going to post an interesting Okajima in the marketplace, probably today. We'll see how fast the hype train is moving.
  3. Did I read your notes right @Bird? This Avengers 4 went for $3,500? If so, someone needs to get their prescription checked. Yikes. Or maybe those creases are on the mylar? It's hard to tell.
  4. Just to echo what you're saying, almost all of my interactions with newer collectors have been based around viewing this as a commodities market, instead of a hobby. Yes, there is inherent value here. Yes, you can certainly use this as sort of a "hedge fund" to move money into different pools. Yes, it IS somewhat of a commodities market. That said, if you're really in this for the long haul, you'll see that many genres in the market have ups and downs, sometimes significantly so. Should what you currently collect experience a steep downward turn, it would probably be easier to swallow if you actually enjoy the books in your collection beyond their monetary value.
  5. I was told I needed to identify any books over $5,000, but I only have a 200k policy, so that may have something to do with it. I have no idea.
  6. I know Leroy Harper had them when he had a copy of AF15 stolen. I believe he told me CIS paid the claim and retained his policy, which is a pretty solid endorsement. I use them as well, but have never submitted a claim. @lhcomics can confirm.
  7. I'm not anti-pressing by any means, but I've never heard of pressing as a form of preservation. That's new to me.
  8. It's the only one I've ever seen for sale. I really thought about bidding again, but decided against it.
  9. I think the question I have is not about strict or loose, but "Which period is graded accurately?"
  10. I'd like to test that theory by buying every book I'm supposed to, then comparing it to how I feel now when I see a book I should have bought and want to eat a swimming pool full of glass.
  11. Somebody really wanted that Startling Comics 16 (Resto trimmed) badly. I thought my initial bid of $500 would be more than enough. Clearly not.
  12. THIS IS JUST A REMINDER THAT YOU NEED TO PAY FOR YOUR WINNINGS HURRY UP EVERY CHANCE YOU GET
  13. The fact that he hasn't complied should tell everybody what they already suspected was true. Whether the seller understands or not, perception is reality.
  14. It took me about 8 posts to figure out I didn't wake up in an alternate universe.
  15. Looks to be several years, but it isn't exhaustive. I've found a few of my purchases on CLink that don't show up in the history.
  16. Nothing wrong with that strategy at all. I've seen 1.0's that look better than 4.0's. That kind of circles back to the original point of this thread of collecting the label, and not necessarily the book. People get way too hung up on the number in the corner as opposed to the overall appearance of the book.
  17. In the future just let me know when you have cool underwater books and I'll save you the auction fees.
