  1. Now that is an unbelievable deal. Was this on ebay? Or your LCS? Amazing. I would like to see a scan of it. Not everyday you find a minor SA key in nice shape for 1/15th of guide. Hence the italics. Maybe he fleeced an old lady. Hard to imagine a comic shop letting that go so cheap or it flying under the radar on eBay...but stranger things have happened. or have they? To be fair, with the volume of items on ebay, there's always going to be something that slips through the net, although this seems to occur far less often these days. And if it does on the odd occasion happen, I tend to keep it to myself....... Still, that's the best deal I've heard of in a significant while.....

  4. Right back at ya. Now go pop the reserve on my HOF! The big hitters haven't turned up yet........that res'll pop.......
  5. Kudos to Shrunkenhead for an easy, seamless transaction!!
  6. Fascinating. There must've been widespread rumors of a possible Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor at that time, yet when it happened over 2 years later, U.S. intelligence was caught completely off - guard. Either that or the writer of that comic was a clairvoyant........
  7. Galactus could swat Hulk away like an insect..........
  8. Even though they relaxed the Code in '71, it still existed - hence no explicit gore (as if you didn't know). For stomach churning depictions of extreme violence and torture, help was at hand in that era, courtesy of Skywald, Stanley and Eerie. In some cases, these exploitation mags surpassed their pre-code forebears.....
  9. Kudos to Ajax-Farrell for some nice clocks which'll look good hanging on my office wall.
  10. No scans. I'm playing this transaction blind Big mistake! Don't let him put you off, Beyonder.
  11. I'd be interested in any HG Byrne stuff. Pence copies accepted. 'Ere you go - if the entry doesn't say "cents" or "ND" (non-distributed) then it's pence...... Just find me some "stuff" to buy. Do you always flip books bought from A-1? I bought a handful from them and forgot to change the backing boards. Dammit.
  12. I think prices are relatively stable, except for a handful of icon and heavily in demand, genuinely scarce books that rarely turn up in any kind of decent shape. Even Strange Tales 1, a book I considered to be very tough to find even in VGF has turned up on ebay in the FN range three times in the last couple of months (admittedly after a year long absence). Prices weren't too far from guide, although guide is high on that book...... On the other hand there's the Gaines File Copies - the horror / crime titles (especially books such as Crime 22, Shock 6, Crypt 17, Vault 12 etc.) go for crazy amounts if the book is 9.2 and above - certainly more than the Sc-fi or War books. That market has never cooled off.

  14. shucks. I wish you had books I needed. Email me a wants list. You never know......... Dear Andy, Here is my want list. 1. Astonishing Tales #25 Thanks, Rick And here's the punchline.....I haven't got one. I do have most of the other Deathlok issues in stock in super HG, but they're pence copies. They are very cheap, tho'.

  16. BTW, Scott and Tom (lmk when the item arrives) - thanks for the unsolicited testimonials. I'm tempted to say shucks.
  17. Agreed. I've bought two or three times from Andy, and have been very pleased. His selection is definitely impressive. Definitely worth a look from more folks. No Tales of Suspense from #39 to #74. Are you SURE??
  18. Excellent poll. FWIW, I voted for EC, Comic Media and Gilmore. Ajax-Farrell would've been 4th.
  19. For the record....... Nobody can slip anything by you. Thanks for showing us......uh......the internet.
  20. Yeah i make my comic collecting money from mugging dozens of old women a day. I feel sorry for them but my need for comics brings it on. It's not the first time my friends have come home to find me curled up in the corner clutching an X-Men 11 sobbing frantically. I'm not bothered by anything in that paragraph except the bit where you state that you were "sobbing frantically". That I'm afraid is tautology - you cannot sob frantically - sobbing is a quiet, reflective act. You can't be frantic at the same time. Apart from that, perfect!!!
  21. It certainly is, Brad. It's also the reason why I'll be scrolling left and right on every thread you participate in until the Mods sort out a break or two in the name. Nuffin' personal, and I don't mean to bust your balls. So you won't mind if I troll you for a couple of weeks? Damn you!!!! I knew I shouldn't've complained!!!!!
