It's amazing Kirby is considered in such high regard when he put out covers like that Thor #168. Yuck.
I happen to think that's a great cover.
Yeah, but your English.
Seriously though, completely ridiculous cover. How does Galactus turn his head with those "horns" hitting him in the shoulders? The Galactus "skirt" never looked funnier than in that cover.
It's artistic license!! It's pop art, dammit!! It's not supposed to be realistic......perspective be damned!

It's uncanny that I knew what you were going to post before you posted it.My 2nd Western Penn copy:There are people living in Outer Mongolia who knew greggy was going to post that.

Shrunk, that was a steal. I wonder if an 8.0 copy of Dark Mysteries #13 (the convict's severed foot cover, and my favorite of the run) would've gone for more? IMO that devil cover is about as good. Dammit.

And also to Sterling and sfilosa for delivery of some excellent books, well packaged and graded. HIghest recommendation to both!

Kudos to clobberintime for a smooth ebay transaction.....

I had to be consistent! BTW...thanks for the books. I was trying to find faults with your NM grading just for whining purposes but I just couldn't!
Kudos to all the fools that I've failed to acknowledged just for the hell of it!Kudos to Mephisto for a smooth deal!Countless other Kudos to Greggy I had not been acknowledging....
Kudos to Sterling for quick & easy sales!
Kudos to Zonker for Killer Batman books! (yours are on the way!)
Finally....
Yeah, greggy......you were pleased with the books that I sold you - why don't you give kudos, dammit?
FWIW greggy paid quickly and err, that's it.
I hope everybody is reading this.........high praise indeed.
Fat chance, three quarters of the people here have him in their "ignore list"
But greggy has so much to offer to the boards.........

You're lucky I'm considering your books at your UK inflated prices! My pleasure, Andrew. Thanks for the purchases and your patience. And thanks to Zeman who acted as the go-between.Oops. Should've remembered. Extra thanks to Zeman for doing both me and Brad a favor!
Sorry greggy, I haven't forgotten to send you the scans.......
My prices are VERY reasonable.
Unlike yourself
Goes without saying.

Kudos to Brad (Red Hook) for three nice Silver Age Marvels, all well graded and packed. Cheers, mate!!!

I'd be happy with any of those four books. Apart from the Weird Terror, they all look in HG. What grades did you give each of them?

Hi All: My addition to the thread. Back in the late 80's I started buying books from a collector who placed adds in the CBG. I purchased a beautiful GL 1 and some others. When I spoke to him on the phone it was as if he and I had been friends forever. Well, we decided to get together and check out each others collections. After looking thru a gazillion Church MLJ's, Full HG runs of every Marvel title, etc I knew I was out of my league so I went home with my tail between my legs.
A short while later we talked and he had decided to sell his FF run. I was offered the FF 1 for 3X guide which at the time was around $4K. I passed as I was off to Canada to buy some real comics, DC's.
Years later the collection has become known as the Western Penn Pedigree. Who knew, besides it was a Marvel!
No question, we have a winner. At least you're philosophical about passing on a pedigree.....

Kudos to Rob aka Clobberintime for two great CGC books, expertly packed. Cheers, guv!!

OK, here is my story.
I was working at a public relations firm in DC that went tits-up December 31, 2001.
I didn't think Americans knew that phrase.
They don't!
Well, since comics like Hellblazer and Transmetropolitan came out, some do.

I don't have any stories that play that well when it comes to deals I passed on over the years, partly because there were so many, and partly because it all boiled down to me being short sighted .
I remember buying a Hulk 181 in NM from Blazing in '98 for $400 that would've gotten a 9.6 if I'd kept it, but no, I sold it for £400. Clever me. Also Bob had several other Hulk 181s in similar shape, but I left 'em .
At the same show Vincent Z (pre - Metro) offered me a NM copy of Green Lantern 1 for OS guide (at the time that would've been $2,200). That book would've graded no worse than 9.2 according to CGC, and I was certain it was unrestored. But I passed on it.
In '96 Conrad Eschenburg had a set of JLA 1-20 in NM (they were absolutely spectacular) but wanted double guide. I imagine if I'd bought the set he would've cut a slight deal. But again I passed. At the same show Harley had some tremendous stuff such as an Avengers 9 in NM- for $130. And that was just a random example. And yes, I should've gone crazy, but I'd only be dealing for about a year and half......so I passed again.
How things have moved on, and how often do I kick myself for not having the balls then to bite the bullet and spend the bucks. Ya live and learn......

Donut
That is the EXACT type of story I wanted to hear - keep it going guys!
Yep, FD knows how to tell a story. I for one would like to hear the one about Greg White that happened prior to the All-American one (as I may have had a similar experience).

That's a nice book, goldust...is that the one currently on auction from Warehouse? I tried to pop the reserve on that one, but couldn't do it. 4x guide was my maximum, a healthy multiple for a VG, classic cover or no. Wonder if anyone else will grab it?
Yep, that's the book that Warehouse has on ebay as we speak - and I think they've had the book up for auction once before. The BIN that time was $850, which is outrageous, needless to say. I reckon the reserve isn't too far from that figure.
The last time FAC 20 sold on ebay it was in VG (give or take) and sold for $350 (about triple guide) which shows how OTT Warehouse's reserve is. As I recall the winning bidder was blackcatcomics (as usual).
