  1. Woo-hoo, I'm the one person who voted for Prize!!! headbang.gif

Ya'll don't know what yer missing. gossip.gif More for me, more for me! 27_laughing.gif

BTW, does the recent pinning of Paull's thread now mean that PCH is "hot" again? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif I know there's still a lot of mixed emotions about there about the spike in prices in the early 90's (and not undeseverdly so) but the horror books have been relatively "cool" for several years now. Are we due for yet another boom period?

I think prices are relatively stable, except for a handful of icon and heavily in demand, genuinely scarce books that rarely turn up in any kind of decent shape. Even Strange Tales 1, a book I considered to be very tough to find even in VGF has turned up on ebay in the FN range three times in the last couple of months (admittedly after a year long absence). Prices weren't too far from guide, although guide is high on that book......

On the other hand there's the Gaines File Copies - the horror / crime titles (especially books such as Crime 22, Shock 6, Crypt 17, Vault 12 etc.) go for crazy amounts if the book is 9.2 and above - certainly more than the Sc-fi or War books. That market has never cooled off.

  2. BTW, Scott and Tom (lmk when the item arrives) - thanks for the unsolicited testimonials. I'm tempted to say shucks.
    shucks. gossip.gif

I wish you had books I needed. sorry.gif

Email me a wants list. You never know.........

    Dear Andy,

    Here is my want list.

    1. Astonishing Tales #25

    Thanks,

    Rick

27_laughing.gifAnd here's the punchline.....I haven't got one. I do have most of the other Deathlok issues in stock in super HG, but they're pence copies. They are very cheap, tho'.

  3.

I am often amazed at how little word-of-mouth Andy (goldustcomics.com) gets as a dealer around here compared to places like Metro and Superworld. Every time I look at the books Andy has in stock, I am amazed at the selection. Marvel, DC, golden age, silver age, bronze age, it is better than most American dealers have and he has a lot of stuff that you just can't find anywhere else (case in point, the Captain America Comics #75 discussed recently in the Marketplace). His grading is as good as anyone's and the shipping cost from England isn't usually that bad either, especially if you're buying multiple books.

Agreed. I've bought two or three times from Andy, and have been very pleased. His selection is definitely impressive. Definitely worth a look from more folks. thumbsup2.gif

No Tales of Suspense from #39 to #74. crazy.gif

    Are you SURE??

  4. I don't make a lot of cash at my 9 to 5, but the proceeds from selling crack on the side can get one a lot of slabs, no doubt. Crack for Slabs, its practically a UN program.

Yeah i make my comic collecting money from mugging dozens of old women a day. I feel sorry for them but my need for comics brings it on. It's not the first time my friends have come home to find me curled up in the corner clutching an X-Men 11 sobbing frantically.

I'm not bothered by anything in that paragraph except the bit where you state that you were "sobbing frantically". That I'm afraid is tautology - you cannot sob frantically - sobbing is a quiet, reflective act. You can't be frantic at the same time.

    Apart from that, perfect!!!

  5. I.....I.....just saw it. 893whatthe.gif

    It's a thing of beauty! yay.gif

It certainly is, Brad. It's also the reason why I'll be scrolling left and right on every thread you participate in until the Mods sort out a break or two in the name.

Nuffin' personal, and I don't mean to bust your balls. sumo.gif

So you won't mind if I troll you for a couple of weeks? flowerred.gif

  7. Brad, congratulations on your custom Forum title. It is richly deserved - in fact I can't think of anyone who deserves it more.

Just one favor, though. Could you please ask the Mods to put a couple of gaps in your rather long title as it seems to be screwing up the formatting a wee bit.

    PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Typical Brad, screwing things up for the rest of us! insane.gifpoke2.gif

893whatthe.gifThere were two Pac Coast Witching Hour 14s??

Either two Oakland copies, or a bad assignation of one copy by CGC. More likely the former. Interesting, too, that the 9.4 copy has far superior cover registration, and so from the scans looks to be a superior copy to the 9.6.

foreheadslap.gif I meant Oakland. Probably two copies.

  10. It's amazing Kirby is considered in such high regard when he put out covers like that Thor #168. Yuck. crazy.gif

    I happen to think that's a great cover. sumo.gif

    Yeah, but your English. poke2.gifscrewy.gif

    His English what? confused.gif

Nah, he's right....back to the business at hand - more recently acquired pedigrees.

Seriously though, completely ridiculous cover. How does Galactus turn his head with those "horns" hitting him in the shoulders? The Galactus "skirt" never looked funnier than in that cover.

It's artistic license!! It's pop art, dammit!! It's not supposed to be realistic......perspective be damned!
