  1. Russ, the Bethlehem pedigree is the easiest to identify due to the shop stamp on the back. It's not a top pedigree as the grades are variable but it's noteworthy and established..

And it's Bethlehem PA, not the one five miles south of Jerusalem. tongue.gif

  2. The Diamond Run isn't connected to Geppi and co. I don't think it's an official pedigree, although (like the DD Annual 1) there are a lot of killer books from it.

Official enough that CGC recognize it! Some very nice books are in it: the Diamond Run AF 15 is nicer than the WM copy.

    foreheadslap.gif Newfangled pedigrees.

  3. You gotta love the marketing on this. How can you go wrong with the "Crime Terror" genre???

Yeah! Talk about playing into Wertham's hands!

Fight Against Crime gets my vote for most exploitative, gory, pre -code crime / horror book of them all. Perfect grist indeed for the Wertham mill.

  4. talk to comic collectors, become friends with the owners of your local comic stores.

Sadly not the easiest thing to do. Some of my LCS owners are sourest men ive ever met in my life. There are a couple though, so i end up avoiding the sour shops. crazy.gif

There are comic shops in Carlisle?? 893whatthe.gif

  5. Major big - ups and thanks to Moondog100 for 3 very nice pre-code horror books, well packed, shipped, and as described - which is three out of three in my book. Excellent, friendly and fast customer service all round!! Tx, Gary!!

Also worthy of praise is Chrisco, for kindly shipping the books to me - amusing note on the package, Chris!! Thanks again!! headbang.gif

  6. Can't remember the specific thread (it may be one that FD just linked) but it was when JC went on the rant of a lifetime, ending it by calling his detractors (and everyone else) "black - hearted dwarfs" .

I'm still laughing about that one.

Just checked - it was indeed the Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves thread that got bumped (so I ended up participating in it technically, even though it started before I arrived here). Hysterical.

  7. Why do you keep them to yourself? I love hearing about the bargains people get on eBay. It helps me to keep searching and shrug off the bad deals I sometimes get.

Come to think of it, it's an English thing, at least a little. In the U.S., if someone does well, he (or she) generally gets a pat on the back (an attitude which I like) - other people's success is not despised like it is in the U.K. Over here, we're a bit more circumspect and cagey for that reason.....

Next time it happens I'll mention it on this very thread. And include links, natch....

  8. DD #7 (20 bucks in vf- nootch!)

Now that is an unbelievable deal. Was this on ebay? Or your LCS? Amazing.

I would like to see a scan of it. Not everyday you find a minor SA key in nice shape for 1/15th of guide. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

    Hence the italics.

thumbsup2.gif Maybe he fleeced an old lady. Hard to imagine a comic shop letting that go so cheap or it flying under the radar on eBay...but stranger things have happened.

    or have they? 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

To be fair, with the volume of items on ebay, there's always going to be something that slips through the net, although this seems to occur far less often these days. And if it does on the odd occasion happen, I tend to keep it to myself.......

Still, that's the best deal I've heard of in a significant while.....
