  1. CURSE OF THE SPAWN 1 GERMAN EDITION - CGC 9.9 Highest graded copy - only one at mint on the census! Pardon the massive scanner glare - it's a thick cased book. $175 SHIPPED SOLD
  2. Hey folks. Some of you may already know me as one of the most serious Spawn collectors out there. I currently have three number one Spawn sets on the registry. I've decided to part ways with some of my collection. Over the years in which I've accumulated these books, my collecting focus has narrowed. I am keeping all of the regular run, including variants. Almost everything else, however, will be up for grabs. This includes the various mini-series released over the years as well as fan editions, foreign editions, one-shots, and trade paperbacks. While the bulk of the sale will be made up of blue labels, I will be listing a few signature books as well. Many of the books I will list for sale are the only CGC graded examples that currently exist! Many of them are also top-graded copies (I will be listing a few 9.9s!). Some of the books were very, very difficult to track down. Some of the books will be sold individually, but some of them must go as complete sets because I'm not willing to break them up. Pricing most of these books was difficult because of a lack of public sales data. When setting a price, I took the following data points into consideration: what I paid; GPA data, if available; census numbers; print-run; and several other factors. I hope that those people familiar with the Spawn market will find my pricing fair. If you are left scratching your heads, I'd appreciate a PM. Please no thread-krapping. I will be adding to this thread overtime, so please bookmark and keep checking back. I might have something you like. I will also consider offers via PM. Just remember that the deal must be sealed here in the public sales thread and winners will be determined strictly and solely by time stamp. Once we've reached a deal, an in the thread will be sufficient. Okay...here we go...

  4. *sigh* That's freakin' awful man. Greed wins in the end. What happened to keeping one's word? Is it really better to lose a dedicated customer for a potential profit of 70 or 80 bucks?? I guess that's what you were worth to him? Hopefully you can pick up at another shop with ease. As far as the Thank You edition goes, as a dedicated Spawn collector, I'm holding my cards on this one for a while. I think it's being way overvalued at the moment. It's a cool book, but not something I'm dying to have. When it settles down to a few hundred bucks, I might give it a shot...and you're right. It's not "gotta have it" rare either. but seeing as how I'm now contracting rather than expanding...might not ever happen. I'm variant-weary my friend.
  5. Well, it's impossible to judge at these high grade levels based on scans alone...so I'll throw that out as a disclaimer. To really tell, you'd have to have both books cracked out of the slabs and ready for close examination with magnification, different types of lighting, various angles, etc. That said, it looks like your book has a lower, left corner that is superior to the 9.9. Registry and alignment is almost too close to call. That said, I'd give the ever-so-slight edge in that category to the 9.9. I'm sure they had everyone at CGC scouring that 9.9 before giving it the grade...but still...if it were cracked out and resubmitted, would it grade a 9.9 again? Who knows? Too expensive of a proposition to ever find out. But like I said earlier, this is an amazing looking book! It would be very, very difficult and very, very expensive to find a buy a better copy in my opinion. Another fine piece of the collection Prof...just wish I had better means.
  6. Yep. Got mine used. I've run about 1,000 scans and it's still going strong. *knocks on wood*
  7. I've almost completed a full run of Spawn with variants (about 340 slabs) by using a piece of advice from a respected boardie with one of the largest collections out there... "Be vigilant...be willing to spend more money than the next guy." I simply bought whatever I could, whenever I could...price be damned. I did, however, try to chase down the rarest and most expensive books first.
  8. If your collection is really outstanding (best in age) then you get a very nice looking plaque, a certificate, and a free year's membership with the CGC...and you get a nice little medal next to your name on the registry list.
  9. That's what some people were saying 20 years ago.
  10. Spawn 273 Black and White Variant I'd say 9.6 or better. Clean. Unread. Unpressed. $3
  11. Spawn 273 I'd say this is a solid 9.6. Unread. Unpressed. FYI: Print run on the latest Spawn books are sinking into the 12,000 range. $3
  12. Spawn 272 (2 copies) Both copies are 9.6 or better. Very clean. Unread and unpressed. $3 each
  13. Spawn 270 (3 copies) All three copies are 9.6 or better. A few may be good 9.8 candidates. Very clean. Unread and unpressed. $3 each
  14. Spawn 269 Black and White Variant (3 copies) All three copies are 9.6 or better. A few may be good 9.8 candidates. Very clean. Unread and unpressed. $3 each
  15. Spawn 203 Crisp copy. In my opinion, this is a solid 9.6. Pressing will not help and I don't believe this is quite a 9.8 due to a very small flaw along the rear spine. Very clean front, however. The faint white line you see down the left side of the book is part of the artwork. Another difficult book that is fairly tough to come across. $7
  16. Spawn 152 At first, this book impressed me as a 9.2 but I am selling as a 9.0 to be on the safe side. This is a very difficult book and is relatively hard to find. $8
