  1. I agree with you 100%. I didn't mean good luck for you to try and change public perception. I meant in general for anyone. You know how it is. Once the herd starts moving in one direction, it's not easy to steer them down the right path.
  2. No mention on the label, huh? I wonder if they're all like that or if at some point they started making note of it. IIRC, isn't there an earlier non-comic appearance that some claim to be the actual 1st appearance much like Rocket Raccoon? It depends on your definition of a comic book: http://swcomiccollector.blogspot.com/2014/12/first-appearance-boba-fett.html I've also been buying the first appearance of Boba Fett in comics for much less than what people are buying Star Wars #42 for: Star Wars Empire Strikes Back 1980 Marvel Comics 02114 1st UNREAD P4547 It's interesting to me that the 4th printing of the material goes for $700 (granted it is CGC 9.8) but the first printing of the material can be had for $12.50. The comic book format with Boba Fett on the cover will win out every day of the week in the eyes of the wanting. Good luck trying to change the prevailing perceptions.
  3. Being below the last 2 recorded sales and the ComicLink sale while continuing to climb in popularity brings out new bidders all the time.
  4. What's your basis for your statement?
  5. Marvel Graphic Novel #4 with the single $5.95 price was printed in 1982 and is widely accepted as the Canadian Price Variant, 1st printing as the later printings of Marvel Graphic Novels went on to state $5.95 Can. and it simply made sense.
  6. Don't just use GPA. Look at the market. Use eBay to extract current asking prices. Often, you will see a large gap between realized prices through auction and people that do their homework based on supply, demand and competition asking prices. Realized low prices are often due to people either desperate to sell or don't realize that patience is a virtue. If the book isn't a key or hot book than avoid auctions as they will sell below market value. Lastly, if you want to take advantage of full market value don't sell here as you are dealing with people that are looking to make money from what you're offering.
  7. Jeebus, I keep forgetting to pull all my copies out, along with the death of Supergirl issue.
  8. Keep it simple. Whether one party is wrong or not. Both of you return the books. Wash your hands of the entire thing. Go outside and enjoy the sunshine. It's only comic books.
  9. I predict that it will not sell at those stated prices at the Calgary Con, especially with the oil industry taking a hit and the Alberta economy feeling the ripples. Even if it is CDN funds. It's wishful thinking to expect but people aren't that desperate for the book. You'd have better luck seeing those type of prices on-line and being patient.
  10. 1st Stick? Dang, I really need to pull out my DD's then. What others are hot like this? Sorry haven't been around much on the boards. I have a feeling issue #178 will be important with all the Netflix shows. First meeting of Powerman and Iron Fist with DD.
  11. There were odds running on whether or not you'd join the fray. You never fail to disappoint! Anyhow, I'm not one rake someone over the coals excessively so what do you guys suggest regarding the transaction? He's already apologized but I don't know how sincere of an apology it is. Has anyone else had trouble with this buyer before? This type of tire-kicking behavior is far to rampant. Next time, tell the deadbeat to give a deposit to show commitment. Sounds worthy of the probation list. Some people can't seem to understand the meaning of honoring a deal. They likey a comic very much until the next shiny object catches their desire.
  12. "Hasn't proven himself to be an honest person": so far he has not refunded Hector, but he said he’ll do, so I agree with him in giving the benefit of the doubt. I would not call everyone which appears problematic flat out "dishonest": dishonesty implies a deliberate malicious behavior. Actions speak louder than words. So far, nothing but words. You have to take people to task or they will mistake your kindness for weakness.
  13. Called that from the start. I knew he was desperate seller and didn't have the money. The seller hasn't proven himself to be an honest person so why give him the benefit of the doubt. Glad you opened a claim. Don't let him hold you hostage over $150.00 because he wants you to be a hero He's the one responsible to fix his wrong doing and not plead ignorance about not knowing the book was restored.
  14. I know we all make mistakes but what does throwing someone else under the bus for your mistake do but make you sound even worse. I've missed stuff and made mistakes. Its a simple 3 step process Step 1 I'm sorry Step 2 Please send me the book back and I will refund your money including return shipping. Step 3 Again I am sorry for the hassle. End of story This is the best advice you will ever get because it's common sense. Gotta love desperate sellers who live sale to sale.
  15. I only get the win not the book. He said he sold it to his "anonymous" friend that buys his books all the time, but he can't do anything that its restored. Sucks to be his friend. I am pretty sure he has just given the book away to you if you agree to pay slabbing fees and then disclose the restoration notes. and I know for a FACT he has not refunded the original purchaser. Also on the claim that he did not have enough time to take the book down. He posted it for sale at 12:52, at 01:08 I sent him a pm raising my concerns that it was restored to which he replied at 01:24am but it was not changed to being sold until 02:28 am. Holy Scum-Bag Batman!!
  16. Once again, this was absolute jibber-jabber. You could've solved this with timely, HONEST and upfront answers. None of which you've provided as you seem to be playing dumb. I still think you come across as an unethical seller who is trying to play the sympathy card.
  17. Well said. It seems like there really isn't a legit excuse to make an issue of somebody bringing restoration to everyone's attention, unless, of course, you knew about it already and didn't disclose it in the listing. Common Sense Threadcrapping should also apply to the grading in some sales threads. I know grading is subjective but there is a current sales thread with terrible over grading, there's nothing subjective about it. This should be pointed out too so that the sales forums can at least carry a higher standard than eBay.
  18. The only thing heating up in this thread is the steaming pile of Hulk 180 &181jibber-jabber. Keep this thread focused and start a different Hulk thread, please!
  19. That's what I call a babbling waste of time. Everything you said was useless. As a business owner I would certainly question your behaviour and let you go. You don't represent yourself well when faced with adversity and you conduct yourself in a very odd manner.
  20. I circled what I consider the most obvious bit of ct. It's the extra deep pink line in the clouds by the spine. Above and below that in the black area by the spine contains a lot of black ct. You'll see wear that breaks color and "mysteriously" disappears into a lighter shade of black ct. The space where the bottom edge of the top staple meets the fc is a convenient place to look. There's other black ct throughout the cover too. It also seems apparent in the black under the 12¢ Ind. box
  21. I actually made a comment about the color touch after one poster commented about it being trimmed. I don't feel it's thread crapping as the poster was trying to do the right thing. It could save a lot of headaches for both parties, especially since the buyer is unknown and no one can share with him/her directly.
  22. According to print run numbers for #43, it was just under 15,000 copies. Given that #44 had no hype it would be safe to assume the order # was approximately the same amount. The Retailer Incentive would therefore be approximately 1,500 copies as it was a 1:10 variant. Very scarce for a TMNT key event, whether he lives or not.
  23. How should this one be labeled? It's not a Canadian edition. Just the regular newsstand version. US newsstand is 60 cents Just a mislabelled Canadian Price Variant. Wow, with those color breaking spine ticks ( at least 3 )I have more faith that I've submitted a lot more 9.8 candidates then I thought with all my books at CGC.
  24. 1st appearance of Gambit is X-Men #266 I don't get into long winded discussions as to why because it doesn't make me money to do so. Selling X-Men #266 does make me a lot of money though.
  25. And that is poor on its part being focused more on getting books out, and not enough on the story flow. On page 17 of the X-Men Annual #14 it says in the top panel to "For Details see X-Men #265 - 267 " when Gambit mentions escaping. I'll stick with X-Men #266 as the 1st full appearance for the sake of story continuity as Marvel meant it to be. I don't care about printing release dates. The annual #14 was meant for 1990 and Marvel could've easily released it in September as it was in May. It's dissecting semantics.
