  1. There appears to be a growing community of people that are taking the position that rehydration, pressing and dry-cleaning are bad (I am not one of those people so please don't ask me to defend this position). Insofar as some people in our community engage in strange shenanigans (lying, cheating, stealing, etc.), I imagine that there will be a group of people who will take this position so that they can secure books they can then improve and re-sell for more money. That being said, I think it's a legitimate inquiry and that as these methods become more and more common, we will see them disclosed as a matter of transparency on sales threads. However, I can generally tell if a book has defects that will press out. It's harder for me to tell if something is a color rub or can be dry cleaned form a photo than I assume it is for others. I imagine the real pros and pressing/cleaning can look at photos and tell what has or can be done effectively to a book.
  2. I understand that the comic community is a microcosm for society, blah, blah, blah ... but I can't understand how many people don't get the joke.
  3. I feel like Rob charging $30 for a cameo is one of the greatest things in modern comics.
  4. I can't decide if we are getting a new series, info about the tv series. Either way, I'm excited about SDCC!
  5. I would focus on the kickstarter for Wailing Blade rather than the regular book. My
  6. I got a good feeling this series is headed to Netflix and it may be the best thing that happened to prices on the comic and the longevity of the television series. Then again, maybe I'm in denial. Either way, I thought this series was as good as Umbrella Academy and Titans. It was on the short list for best comic to tv adaptation in my opinion.

  10. I think this is a tragically undervalued book and a great spec pic. The series was amazing. Joe Hill has more and more fans outside the world of comics and there's a ton of buzz around NOZ4A2 (I probably spelled that wrong). Other than the first issue, what are the other key books that you guys see appreciating in value in this series? I remember there were some variants, but I don't remember any of those books being really hard to find. That being said, it's been a long time since I was reading Locke and Key. Thanks!
  11. Can I mention that @Jimmy Linguini was the loudest voice championing these books as good spec, that I thought he was out of his mind, and that if I would have listened to him I would be a few thousand dollars richer (because I obviously would have sold these books as soon as I possibly could).
  12. "Speculation is ruining the hobby. The only people who are allowed to purchase comics that may increase in value are retailers and no new retailers in my area, just me. I was here first. Everyone else [ak/a my potential customers] must pay me the peak market price and they can not ever resell that book [because I may have more copies that I need to sell]." Said no one ever. But it seems like an all too often implicit message in the critiques of the current comic market. I'm so tired of hearing people who collect one way jump on top of their soap box to bad mouth people who collect a different way. It's tragically immature and more often than not motivated by envy and greed. "The market is going to collapse, it's just like the 90's, they don't appreciate the story/art the way I think they should, etc." If you love this hobby, please make a point to help shepherd newer collectors in their collecting as best you know how. Rather than throwing stones at one another, perhaps we could take some time and appreciate that there's room enough for everyone in the hobby(hoarders, key collectors, run collectors, flippers, speculators, retailers, etc.). Namaste ninjas!
  13. I think there was interview with the screen writer that caused the book to spike where they seemed to imply this was "canonical" but it didn't peak my interest so I didn't pay enough attention to say for sure. I think Yogogo read the whole article so maybe he can key us in on what exactly was said?
  14. I got one but it's all jacked up. I hope someone subs a 9.8.
  15. There has been rumors circulating about her coming to Hulu, but there were no verified stories or anything substantial that I can find. I think a lot of it is was tee leaf reading after the Hulu announcements and then piling on after it hit the CBSI top ten, but its an awesome book that I feel like a bone head for not having in my collection.
  16. The 1:25 is the winner ... the hiphop variants are hit or miss and usually its contingent on whether they were print to incentives. I think this will probably look a lot like Thanos 13 with the A cover selling for more than the 1:10 variants but hopefully I'm wrong. I also can't remember whether the hip hop variant is a 1:10 for 100% certain (I would have to look into that), but given the option to buy the A covers or the hiphop variants at or around the same price, I am still buying the A covers. I've learned my lesson on too many other books (TT12, Naomi 1, Thanos 13, etc.).
  17. I didn't look at eBay sales, but I know the 1:25 variant for Howling Commandos of SHIELD sold out at midtown (I think I got the last NM copies). It's a book that I think is a keeper for a minute (not just hte 1:25, but all the ratios and the A cover). The speculation is not so much about a Disney plus show as it is that Marvel confirmed its Trademark on the character Glyph (whose first appearance is in that issue) a the same time it confirmed trade marks for Spirits of Vengeance, Helstrom and one other character/group (which I don't remember now for some reason). Marvel doesn't do a lot of that, the character Glyph is a strong young female hero with Egyptian heritage and fits the mold for a character they will either drop on Hulu, Disney+ , in the MCU or some combination thereof or at worst are sufficiently interested in that they will certainly give her a boost on the pages of books. Note that Hitmonkey (for example) is also a member of the HCOS so it appears that they may be thinking of doing something there too. It's a book I'm hot on (until the buy in looks like Naomi #1 then I'll start bad mouthing it ).
  18. Any reason why variants have been excluded from the discussion? I briefly scanned the thread and saw a number of books that have variant covers which are super desirable. I appreciate that some of the variants are much more expensive and/or have already taken off. I wasn’t sure if this was an intentional move by the OPs. Thoughts? Thanks!
  19. I think that's an understatement - FB and IG groups often look like monkeys throwing poop at one another My biggest gripe about people on the CGC boards is that they pretend like they are somehow different from the buying groups (TRENDS, FACTS, CBSI, etc.) when the CGC boardies are just another one of those groups
