  1. Yes what you say is true. They are similar because they both offer big discounts. Even after the discount you are left staring at the Comicage dealer thinking 'Does he really expect me to pay for this anyway?'
  2. It honestly applies to both of them but I think you knew that
  3. It was either the Ottawa or Toronto con. I think it was the Toronto event but I am having trouble remembering. I think he regularly attends both. He strikes me as the dealer that grabs up hoards of boxes of everything and then just marks down prices to the point to get people at the booth. He's not the only dealer with this approach.
  4. At one of the last cons I went to, his booth was doing good business. I think they were slashing everything at 50% off. When you hit the price point low enough for your customer, and I gather his customers generally give in on the quality of their books, then he can still survive. I stayed away given the company's reputation.
  5. Congratulations on the weight loss @the blob Starting in 2019 I found a new job. It pays awesome and they treat me well. I couldn't be more happy there. My home life has always been very good. 1) I aim to enjoy the comic hobby as I would like. I'd like to target some big keys (well... big for me): ASM 122, Batman 232, X-Men 94, IH 181. Complete my DD, Batman, FF, ASM comic runs. Slab some comics I've been meaning to send in and begin selling some of my collection to make space. Make some good friends and enjoy the usual banter on the CGC boards. 2) Visit family more often. 3) Continue my weight and BJJ Training. I haven't found the proper fitness regiment yet for what I'm trying to achieve. I'm still 3 1/2 yrs from Blue Belt, so plenty of whoopings in my future.
  6. This grade looks a little low, possible regrade attempt?
  7. I could be hammered for this, but I'm guessing 4.5. The soiled inside, back page rip, and tape are the real drops in grade for me, otherwise it looks much higher.
  8. / As much as I like Aunt May, she would have been my choice.

  10. I don't think you need to overpay. Legitimate dealers will price accordingly and offer a discount.
  11. I guessed correct. I figured it was from an era that had reams of issues that many could afford to slab.
  12. From my Secret Santa, Old Fashion PB and J (The Resurrection). He sent me a nice package with a cool slab, toy, classic spidey mag, several high grade comics and some nice looking modern books including a Batman set. I opened it today when I got home from vacation. It was a generous gift. I hope he got something special as well. I will be messaging my thanks personally as well. Happy Holidays everyone. I am sad to see this holiday season end so soon but I look forward to next year.
  13. - six million dollar man - evil knievel - galactica arcade game - puppy slinky I love comics much more. Fonder childhood memories. I re-read those stories forever. My toys had a shelf-life.
  14. Other than board members, I have no friends or family to exchange comic gifts with. I wish I did. That would be the only thing that would make my Christmas brighter. Nice presents from everyone.
  15. Merry Christmas everyone 🎄 It’s one of the best I’ve had in a while. I hope everyone is enjoying their’s.
  16. I actually miss New 52. I think a lot of titles were decent or at least started decent. I liked Action and their early covers. Justice League with Jim Lee was superb. Aquaman with Ivan Reis followed by Paul Pelletier was a great run. Batgirl with Gail Simone.

  18. My first introduction to him was when I was a boy, in the animated series “Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends” where he was the narrator. From then on, he was forever a staple for Spider-Man and Marvel for me. His voice and look was so distinct and friendly. Comics have changed so much. You wish they could continue as it was. Anyone here met him for longer then a photo? What kind of person was he?
