  1. Two copies on sale from MyComicshop, compare them: on the left, the original, on the right the JC Penney reprint. Aside from Alicia's different skin tone, if you look at the color blends on the ground (both on the Thing's side and on Alicia's) you’ll see that the old coloring system was "warmer" (done by hand) and the printing has "gaps" in the color ramps, due to printing limitations of the technology. The new computer colored version has smooth gradients, which also do not follow precisely the curve of the original blends, and probably the screen dots are smaller as the quality is better, as ental pointed out. (thumbs u All this is enough, without even looking at the super-white fresh paper. They did a great job, anyway.
  2. Aside from the screen of the printing (size of the dots) the computer colored versions, although faithfully following the color scheme are much more homogeneous and regular. The JC Penney reprints, however, are super-easy to spot regardless: aside from the paper and the aging that is not there, they have a modern back cover ad.
  3. From the coloring it’s not a reprint. The JC Penney reprints, besides being on modern paper stock, have a faithfully rendered color scheme, but they are computer colored, easy to spot.

  5. Also the "floating heads" have always an eerie magic to them…
  6. May I ask where Night Nurse met Dr. Strange? I did not know it.

  9. ental, to make you feel better here’s mine… I puchased a lot of time ago and it it felt like a treasure, it was among my earliest FF, in fact the earliest one I had aside from #8. In fact, it still feels so, a bit delicate in the bottom right corner, but a copy you can handle without fears. Now I miss the #1 and #4 and #12 but not in a hurry.
  10. My brain just exploded. I've got a greggy-castoff 9.0, an 8.0 and a pile of raw copies- probably spent $250 total. To avoid confusion: you are still talking about Hero for Hire #1, right?
  11. After these high grade beauties, a pair of new entries in my "selective", very small ASM collection. #83 and #85, now I’ll have to pick a #84 when I find a nice deal. Also, since I don’t think I have ever posted them here, here’s a few others.
  12. As I said, if he was not from USA, it can easily be a 5%+ fee that they charge when you receive payments. Thankfully, it’s less when you are sending payments.
  13. What does it mean "a moot point"? I see "moot" means "open to discussion" or "controversial" but can’t figure out the precise meaning in english.
  14. Someone just asked him why he's not just charging the right amount extra for paypal and he responded with "Those are the terms of sale"...but it's since been deleted. I don’t think it was about that. Probably something other missing or not complying with rules. Besides, it‘s actually a 5% (a bit more) from Italy.
  15. Thanks! It‘s about a VF, minor defects but presents nicely.
  16. How you see the cover to FF#1 as "horrible" is beyond me. It’s a very nice composition, balanced and intriguing and it doesn’t let the reader imagine in full what lies within – he would expect a "classic monster story" while here we have what would have given a new meaning to the word "superhero". Has it ever been explained why Mr. Fantastic had to f*** about with ropes when a monster was attacking? Was the the monster's first salvo? Yeah, I think they explained it in a retcon: apparently the monster has an S&M fetish. Subsequent attacks were with whips and leather masks with zippers.
  17. Not as pretty as Billy’s 9.2, but here’s a recent upgrade (my previous copy was an unhappy midgrade):
  18. If they continue to produce these "cover homages" she surely will.
  19. And – honestly – most of these covers are really horrible (even, or especially, if you like Spider-Gwen).
  20. It’s probably this one (May, 1969): If it was a month later it would have been Iron Man #14 without the slightest doubt.
