  1. Inside stories are the best, clearly covers were often studied to have impact, but just covers do not give an idea of the complexity and richness…
  2. These are actually "foreign editions", but not foreign editions of american comics. The original strip is Italian, inspired by the 1946 Vittorio De Sica movie "Sciuscià" ("Shoeshine"): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoeshine_(film) These represent the French edition, which had these nice custom covers specifically designed for it.
  3. This is meaningful to me, as the print is for myself — I had a FF issue signed by Sinnott but did not like the signature on the cover and I’m selling it. So, since I was unable to write to Sinnott while he was still here with us (I would have loved to have him sign for me the first issue of his "Life of Pope XXIII" he did for Treasure Chest), this will be a good alternative, and will also remind me to pray for your friend.
  4. I do not have a fixed income right now, so I should not spend, but I wish to give a little contribution and I’ll take this one. Is Bruce the name of your friend? Birdie, I am really sorry and glad you are going to help him. P.S. I can have US shipping, but about the payment I should use PayPal (of course covering all the fees) — would it still be OK?
  5. Thanks! How can one search for the envelope? I mean which keywords? I was looking on eBay but can’t find any…
  6. Yes, I do. I recently inquired about a book and he gave the email to me as I put him in contact with a friend which might have been interested. I’ll PM it to you.
  7. I would love to find stationery of Dr. Doom with the envelope "Doomed if Ya Don’t", do you think they can be found?
  8. Well, on average it looks cheaper than what we have here in Italy. Up to 2-3 books (up to 350g) I have to charge $20. :-( Of course, for more expensive packages I tend to use courrier shipping (DHL) which starts at 39 Euro, but I try to offer a $30-35 flat rate to meet the buyer halfway. For us, to foreign customers, PayPal charges about a 5.5-5.6% regardless, be it the cost of the object or postage, it does not make any difference.
  9. Out of curiosity, how much would cost to ship to Europe from Brazil?
  10. International transactions from Italy to abroad are 5.4% in PayPal fees. I think it’s the same for all of us here in Europe. eBay for international transactions sucks about a 17% — that’s nasty, considered that if I sell within Italy on eBay.it it charges about a 10%.
  11. I will always sell to Canadians. Well, actually I will always sell to whichever country you’re in, assumed you pay the postage!
  12. As much as, being Italian, I admit this is something which quite puts me off, on the other hand I fully see the reasons for doing this. Going to Post Offices can be indeed very time consuming. Thank God, I have been able to arrange a way to mail books internationally without spending time, except the few minutes to compile the custom forms. It’s also no longer convenient to have direct shipments to Italy, unless either the monetary amount or the number of books justifies this. I purchased a good batch of books from Jordysnordy recently (over 40) and I could have asked him to check how much the cost would have been from Canada to Italy (it should not have been so much higher compared to USA) but in the end I preferred to have them mailed to a friend in USA which helps me with shipments. At any rate, it would still be great to have sales threads from all over the world. I recall recently there was a russian collector with good books that I crossed but I have not had the opportunity to stumble in one of his sales threads so far.
  13. Ted @Superworld once graded a super-cool GA book that I bought from him as a FN+ (and I do agree): it has the centerfold detached. I recall Sharon told me it was common with GA books in nice condition to allow for a detached centerfold up to FN/FN+.
  14. Hi, I think you should specify a Return policy (requested by forum rules) and Shipping costs. Good luck with your sale!
  15. That is a pretty gorgeous book. As said, it probably depends on the grading criteria, especially on GA books. Since the detachment of the centerfold (or even two centerfolds) was common with one-staple books, I guess it’s safe to encompass grades as high as FN/FN+ if the book is otherwise flawless. If MCS criteria hammers this defect, customers will regardless be happy to purchase a stated VG/VG+ book especially if that is desirable and well priced. I would have bought your book immediately considering it a FN+.
  16. I think the question might also rely on who actually grades. MCS have always had many graders. As said, I have always been satisfied by their grading as a buyer. Books were never overgraded. But in fact I always look at how a book presents itself. Major faults (i.e. staple detached, tape, etc.) are always underlined by MCS and as long as the books looks good from the scans, I do not care if it’s graded as VG or FN. In fact, in one of my very earliest purchases, I bought a squarebound book they graded as a VG+. I suppose because of the "waviness", but that is a gluing problem, production related and inherent to squarebound books. The book is actually at least a VF, maybe a VF+, the price was fair so I was super-happy. If one wants to get most from its grade, probably consignment in general is not the best option? Or, if the book has a value justifying this, one could have it professionally graded beforehand by CGC.
  17. I have not been buying for quite some time but I have always been very satisfied with MCS "in house" grading.
  18. Yes, I recalled you told me about time ago. So the submission form is compiled in order to show them your offerings, and then if accepted one can send the books, if I understand well?
