  1. I always like when art was added:
  2. You are going to need to do a page count and see if the staples were returned as well. I am not a restorer but I would have assumed one of the earlier processes would have been to leaf case the edges; outside of disassembly it doesn't really look like anything was done. Was the cover worse than the internal pages?
  3. Of the entire print run for Hulk 181 there are currently 14k blue labels, 1200 green, 1500 SS, and 1k restored. Lets assume all labels are correct and round up to an even 18k. That is the current graded supply, do you believe that there are only 18k people who collect comics and want this book? I do not believe you actually understand supply & demand as even in your reply you are trying to conflate it with scarcity which even if you tried that angle you would still be brought back to the low supply, as there are only 157 total 9.8 books. You do not start getting into an actual "supply" until the 7.0-8.5 range which still only have 1400-1500 represented copies in each grade. The "first" appearance of Wolverine makes this book collectible; it would have had to have a print run of X-Men(1991) proportions to drown demand level to a rock bottom price. Even then; it might not matter given the GPA of what Spawn #1 is selling for now and it's print run.
  4. Anyone submit during megacon and still not see their submission show up? Have an email out to CS; but wondering if they are just being slow.
  5. You have already received some good information; once you catalog the books ( I would just use a simple google doc ) you can share the doc here and the community can very easily pin point anything of extreme value as there are some bronze issues that absolutely should be graded. Also; I don't know if it is all Marvel/DC but bronze is still within the prime age for independent books that are surprisingly healthy in value.
  6. Hold their value, no. Still have value, yes. There is always a pretty active aftermarket for these, but the sales are going to be significantly lower than purchase cost. As long as they are NM your older Zenoscope books 2015-16 will have no problem selling. As stated above if listed on Ebay (or send them to Mycomicshop) and as long as you are realistic with price you shouldn't have much to worry about movement wise.
  7. Hopefully they are taking stock with a new streamlined service and adhere to advertised sale limitations; Art Adams books were oversold and now 6+ Months late, Jim Lee books are in the same boat but only a little over a month late. Per CGC's own terms if a signing has to be rescheduled the books are kept in the office vault, but these books are with the artist kept in unknown conditions. CGC has refused all responsibility for the above delay and ignore most questions and tell you that they will get done when they get done so kick rocks loser (paraphrasing).
  8. If you load the man CGC PAGE and scroll down half way you will see this: Type in the certification number on the front of the slab:
  9. Luckily this doesn't happen often but sometimes I just cannot get past it; I had a Raphael #1 with a nasty color breaking spin bend at the staple. Unfortunately I bought the grade and not the book so was not exactly happy when I had it in hand. I held on to it as a lesson for almost 4 years and when I finally sold it, I actually hated even looking at any Raph #1. It can be exact opposite as well; Most of my single digit Millie the Model books are in the 6.0 range and I see the flaws on them as charm since the book was enjoyed by someone... Comic collecting is just weird man.
  10. Art Adams still has a large portion of books still in SFG due to not being done and very slowly trickling back in from the original signing last summer. Jim Lee is now in the same boat as he has a sketches and remarques that are not completed from the original 11/28 signing. When asked CGC gives a cut/paste reply about being the victim of large orders and they will eventually get done; until then kick rocks.
  11. I am the one that suggested they post this on the CGC forums (from their original FB post) due to the knowledgeable and helpful community since they didn't really know where to even start. It seems I was really incorrect in that assumption.
  12. Welcome to the forums: some of the names we have already identified on FB and some new ones: Dan Harmon Justin Roiland Jim Lee Stan Lee Adam Hughes Mike Mignola Scottie Young Amanda Connner Mike McCone Tony Daniel Frank Cho
  13. I am sure others will reply with deeply thought out responses but I do not buy books that have been trimmed unless the price is at the very bottom of so low I can crack it out of the slab for a mylar and I just can not find anything comparable. Trimming when noted on the CGC label will and should net you the steepest discount for any restoration; though I use that loosely as I see trimming as destruction vice conservation (pieces add, rice paper, professional color touch, etc).
  14. You should totally believe this poster! Also please fill out the form below at your earliest convenience.
  15. Also currently happening as of November; a moderator regime change in the registry (and behind the scenes), CGC has completely changed the definition of what a variant and reprint are. When questioned they blamed past employee's and tried to gaslight that it has "always been like this" even when shown their own definitions on the website. In a couple months when they do the next registry push and people come back and see their books have been removed and are told to "lol, just create a custom set" it will and already is currently to late.
  16. Given your combative responses and absolute refusal to admit you actually do understand the basic reasons why a "key" comic would be seen as more valuable. I will play along and we can pretend: It has already been explained very well with the comparison to baseball cards and why someone would want a rookie card instead of a 3rd or 4th year card. So lets just do a one-to-one coin comparison. While considered new; coins have both a "first strike" and "first day of issue" notation that carry a premium when collected. These coins are not any different than a coin minted on day 31 so why would a coin collector pay more? The majority of these coins do not increase much over the base purchase price established in the original offering in the after market. Though by your previous responses it has to be speculation only, if someone is purchasing these for their collection as they want "the first" then they are lying cause paraphrasing your own words: "who would pay hundreds more for the same coin, it would be bloody nuts". The first of something is always more valuable simply because it is the first and collectors will focus on that aspect. For reference I do not want to pay the amount the market wants for an All Select #11; So I pivoted to one of my favorite characters Millie the Model. In issue #2 she dresses as the Blonde Phantom, this predates AS #11 and is something of a tryout issue for the character. While not the true first appearance it is a first and because I enjoy and collect the comic I also had the issue signed by Ken Bald. This is lightly considered poor form as I defaced the comic and would actually hurt the value in a lot of peoples eyes. I did not "speculate' by purchasing this book, I bought it to add to my collection as a fan. Collecting for enjoyment that doesn't result in financial benefit is something you don't seem to purposefully want to understand or believe in.
  17. Because it would appear that it is easier to deflect and ignore than provide the basic CS that used to be offered. Everyone in this thread knows what @CardinalBadger is asking, the reply is very telling and has been the same reply others have received; so I assume it is the current official mandate.
  18. Yes, CGC has lost an alarming number of books over the last couple of years. It is becoming an epidemic. Since you only valued the book at $400 that is all they are likely to give you, I do assume this is adjustable but you'd probably have to sign an NDA. Unfortunately you do not have much recourse but make sure you get all of your money back and not store credit unless you trust them enough to keep sending books. $400 - Declared value of book $355 - Cost of Hemsworth signing $25 - Shipping/Handling from submission form This should total $780 and this does not make you whole, it just nulls the transaction and leaves you without actual compensation. Store credit is free CGC money so should not have 1:1 value since you are just giving them more business and chances to lose more of your property.
  19. if it were criminal legal action then yes. CGC is perusing civil action against a defendant that will prove to be judgement proof, so there will be no consequence for anyone. If this case actually appears before a judge it will likely be a default judgement; any financial verdict will be unenforceable, but it will be a nice looking piece of paper. The ugly truth of a very sensationalized civil legal system is that it is very rare to actually receive any compensation as the plaintiff.
  20. I am assuming the first sentence above is the entire point of the filing. I have previously assisted with something like this in the past where the complaint filed is meant to be rejected by the court and used only to tell a one sided PR mitigating story favoring one party on public record. Civil court with all the huge financial verdicts are impotent unless the guilty party has actual property you can eventually file liens against. The average American believes winning a civil suit mean you actually receive the financial assets of the verdict; that is rarely what happens. Just for personal interest I do hope they refile as I was looking forward to reading all the interviews and employee statements that were to be exhibited to try and find a thread of a link between label swap guy who said they "knew someone on the inside, that was assisting them".
  21. Just baseless supposition but given the increasing number of "CGC lost my books" posts on the forums over last couple of years, I find it hard to believe that this was only one person (and their wife) stealing books. I will be very interested once exhibits start being submitted and fully expect to see some testimony from now former employee's cooperating with CGC's attorney's.
  22. There was also the pictures during the Scottie Young signing (now deleted) where he was in room with slabs laying on the metal shelves unprotected stacked on top of each other after being graded! These shelves are just the chrome and black epoxy coated wire shelving sold at Restaurant Supply stores.
  23. I agree... ! is BS. Using a QUOTE UNQUOTE exclamation mark to start a sentence when journalists are not getting paid what Stan Lee currently gets for signing comics is RE;PRESENT. May the power of money be with us all, amen.
  24. After not receiving a reply to CS email sent on Monday, I contacted them directly and received the same cut and paste message as above. There was no further reply when asked why we were not notified of the delay when they knew two months ago during the signing or the anticipated delay over the advertised six week turn around time.
  25. You might be confusing the character of Bobbi Morse with her superhero appearances as Agent 19 and Mockingbird, which are as you have copied in your first post different. Bobbi's first appearance may have been in Astonishing Tales #6 but the first appearance of the superhero Mockingbird was indeed in Marvel Team-Up #95.
