I called him ignorant about cgc practices, he thought I called him stupid. Half the collections are silver age up. the other half is common stuff. in my entire career in comics, ive only been offered 1 golden age collection and more than half of the collections are OO.

i get an average of 4 collections a week. It has actually increased since last year. There has been a huge increase in active buyers on craigslist though.

You are right but I disagree on the hiring of staff. I feel you should do it solo for the first few years.

riding it out. I can't get the collections I get doing just online/con stuff. the store pays for itself just by the collections that walk in the door.

Also, dont close any day of the week. Im open 7 days and decided to take saturday off, sons 2nd birthday, and sunday off, celebrating easter with family who i never see. Got a 1 star rating on facebook because i wasnt open on saturday. So dont ever close. Ever.

I'm thinking that since they hired new graders, the new graders are being super tight to impress their manager to the point that they are making some things up.

I don't even offer a discount. I give a free back issue for every title on their pull list and once a month my subscribers get a free trade if they have at least 10 titles on their pull.

just do it. edit: don't invest heavily with mtg. stick to back issues/key stuff. you won't make money with magic. selling boxes for 100 but buying them 80-85. run fnm's and whatnot but nothing bigger than fnm's. ptq, pptq's and all that make nothing. 100 maybe. magic guys argue over cents for singles. magic buyers are almost as bad as toy buyers. stick to comics.

we do have free play, we don't charge if you play in our store if thats what you mean. anytime anyone wants to play, i let them. we already have a D&D group that comes in every other sunday. 7 people so far. its nice to have that many people in the store but D&D people dont spend money. at least my D&D people don't. all good though/ So if you give them a free place to play anytime, what do you get out of it? It's an awesome thing that you let them hang out, but I'm just curious. as far as D&D goes, I get nothing out of it. they bring their own snacks, they buy supplies online for cheaper. some people tell me that D&D people also play magic but not the ones that play here. they just play d&d I hear that it's pretty standard with all d&d people though. which is why it's considered a basement game. no stores want them in because they are cool as people but they are trash as customers.
