  1. Yeah, I forgot, the two above and #177 are the tops.
  2. Awesome Mr. Butt! Those are by far my two favorite HoM covers pre #200. I'd take either of those two any day over the elusive #179.
  3. I am 99% sure that it will go for an amount that is out of my price range and more than I would have ever though that book would bring. I'd pay $75 for it, tops. No reason to bid though, it'll end much higher than that. I would go higher however if it had a better cover but to me this is one of the weakest covers under #200. Just too dark and green for me.
  4. You've GOT to be kidding me. No one should be shelling out that kind of cash if they don't know what they are doing. Yet, people still do.
  5. Geez, I'd better get my raw Don Rosa books listed on Ebay then. Quite a few nice ones at that. Not your 9.4s, but some very nice 7.5 - 9.0s. Try them here first. My bet is you'll have a lot of luck here and no eBay fees. Joe I did just that, thanks. Marketplace listing now up.
  6. Thanks, hey, just my 2nd GA Batman. It's a start. Not looking for "gems" but for some nice restored or low grade issues every once in a while.
  7. Are you planning on cracking it out or leaving it in? I'm definitely leaving it in the slab. I don't play around with pricey books. Plus I like the way the PLOD identifies the book and states the resto.
  8. Weird. I remember buying my WH #1 9.4 for $455 several years ago and sold it last year for $750. You could've bought a 9.6 for that price 2.5 years ago. Also, Witching Hours in general USED to be a bargain. Now, even 9.4s of any issue are getting strong bids in the $150+ category. I know donger is wraping up his WH collection, which is why I'm staying away from them currently. I agree that the spike in this title has been....Unexpected...but it was Destiny...for I know...because it was midnight...the witching hour. Heck, who needs it? I've got something better than that. I've got the Witching Hour #1 Pam Pedigree copy. Yeah, Pam Anderson, That's the ticket. Pam's personal copy. She slept with it. During the Baywatch years. Always taking offers on this beaut.
  9. Man, I am psyched with this book. Going alongside my #4 3.0. Just received this book today. Just Slight (P) and purchased for only 30% of OS guide. At THOSE kinds of discounts I'll take a PLOD any day.
  10. And this today too, the issue before that one.....
  11. Fun to get two packages the same day. Just opened this box too from Cedar Chest. Nice one here.
  12. Just opened up the package two minutes ago. Not baaad, not bad at all. Although just a Good, these don't come by that often, especially for just $69. Received this accurately graded from Lee's Comics. I always regretted selling my previous copy. This one is staying put.
  13. Geez, I'd better get my raw Don Rosa books listed on Ebay then. Quite a few nice ones at that. Not your 9.4s, but some very nice 7.5 - 9.0s.
  14. Great little set Oct. Another example of the outstanding deals that can be found on Ebay with a little homework and a bit of luck.
  15. Great little stash Pov. Geez, when it comes to comics I kinda wish I lived in San Fran. Lotsa' cool comic shops and cons and lotsa' cool Forumites to hang with.
  16. Don't catch the fever, Andy. There is no cure. With a book like that, it's hard to resist. I don't generally get excited about high grade stuff, but I know first hand how much of a biitch that book is to find in nice shape. I can't even FIND an 8.0, let alone for a decent price. Hope it goes to one of you two guys. Sure, that's a nice book. But let's says it sells for $1,000. Just think how many other really nice surrounding books you can buy with that grand in 9.0 raw instead. That's the way I see it at least. If I was going to spend a grand on a book, it would be something where I could feel I got better value for my money. I just don't see the value in a book like this. But I realize it is not all about value, that's just the way I rationalize things personally. Quality counts, sure, so does rarety. I guess it is all about what it more important to each individual. But it's those minute differences in quality 9.0/9.4 that baffle me in how they affect price/value.
  17. Thanks to October Andy for one heckuva' nice lot of DCs. Excellent packing and grading. Thanks for the bonus books too!
  18. Cool, glad ya' like it. It is one of my BA Marvel favorites as well. Looks cool how you have the COA framed behind it.
  19. I was just able to pick up two copies each of both issues of this interesting little Marvel digest from 1973. Cool little books.
  20. Thanks to Mr. Butt Ock for a great set of High Grade Weird War Tales including a few bonus issues.
  21. Hey, no tomatos from me. To each his own. I look at Kirby like I look at Hendrix. I think both stink. They may be innovators, but I think their style is terrible, and by today's standards, they just 'aint that good. But I respect all other's opinions. Mine are just mine. No better n' no worse.
  22. Be careful what you ask for. Here is the (IMHO) WORST of the DC BA war stuff thanks to Jack "king" Kirby. Some of these covers could have been great if they were done by Heath, Kubert, et al. But Kirby's [embarrassing lack of self control] just made them terrible. I completely agree with you. Although I know Kirby is thought of as an innovator, I personally think his style is terrible, not only regarding war books, but with superheroes as well. I have many of these same Kirby cover issues and they are by far my least favorite of all my war books.
