  1. Aren't the stories in that Unexpected issue just reprints from the Golden Age House of Mystery? I distinctly remember HOM covers for each of the stories on the cover... I personally like the originals better
  2. Yep he would be & if YOU won it or not, it doesn't matter 'cause you're still a LOSER.
  3. ahh....but is he dead? That's the twist of the story...
  4. And the grand finale...with one of the most uninspired covers this side of comicdom...
  5. This was the first time I remember reading an interior story with Joe Kubert art buying books off the rack. The "Gremelin" story was only 4 years ahead of the Speilburg movie hit
  6. When I was collecting comics between 1979-1984 I collected all of the new "Mystery in Space" books. At the time I didn't have the foggiest idea why they started at 111 because at the time I didn't know it was a continuation of the existing series. The format was better IMHO: Horror in outer space--no cheesy Adam Strange stuff here (but he's cool too-for his time). So, I present the covers from my collection in order with some tidbits: This first cover gives me chills. I don't know what it is about Kubert, but he could draw any genre and give the desired effect...
  7. I've never read that issue of BB --how the heck did they mesh in a mystery book with Batman?! Seriously, if you are interested, maybe we can start making plans now for a con (doesn't have to be Charlotte) in the not so distant future... I'm already looking forward to rebuilding a collection...
  8. Matthew, if you make it up, I can provide hotel accomodations with Marriott for anyone staying over since I am on the road 100% and I have tons of points. I'd love to get all of the regional forum members here as well next time. Interesting, my wife frequents a local board here in Charlotte and there was a little forum party. I went with her (although I was most of the time), but I was thinking--it would be nice to see others on the forum eventually at a con event. Hopefully, we can do it soon.
  9. Rahigh, Nice books. I've missed Heroes now two years straight... 178 looks nice--a little cleaning but it looks like at least a 8.5... When I went in 2002, finding high grade was tough. Unfortunately, many dealers don't consider Charlotte a "high profile" market to sell high grade books. Did you say ANY CGC books there? I saw maybe a dozen in 2002.
  10. Oh, you guys went yesterday. Yep, I was in the air all freakin day from SLC to CLT via ORD. Give me your thoughts on the con please.... We gotta plan the next one so all of the regional forum members can meet somewhere and then bus over...
  11. Absolutely--I have ton of all of the other 100 pagers (granted not NM)--but I only have one copy of this puppy---probably a NM-. I like the Wrightson "pumpkin" cross over from Secrets of Haunted House #5....
  12. Here's a pic of my Auggie Doggie guarding my "precious"... And Vader helps out every now and then
  13. There's a ton of CGC 9.8 books that were recently graded (I Vampire) including that HOM 320. I'd love to have those books.
  14. All I'm saying is that if you guys are going to banter to each other about threads and books, at least let the rest of the world know what you are talking about (book, thread URL) otherwise just PM each other....
  15. The only copies I can find in that range are readers. Makes no difference now, but when I start to rebuild my collection.....
  16. What book was this? Spill 'da beans! What's this link you guys are referring to? And, why are you OT in this thread?
  17. Now, now--we don't want to start a catastrophic crash with that many books on the market at once now, huh?
  18. Hmmm....my auctions won't be up for another 2 weeks AT LEAST. The big sucking sound you hear is my time being wisked away organizing this selling fiasco. You got your books back from bronzebruce yet greggy?
  19. I miss everything....all goes over my head...did I tell you I ride the short yellow bus? Just a little stress getting my auctions together But in any event, value is in the eye of the beyonder...
