  1. I know--Issues 1-15 is pretty easy IMO--but once they start into the 52pagers and then the 20cent categories the pickings are pretty slim...
  2. OK, trying out the "Express Service" with my membership certificate. I'm also footing the bill for another one, cause I'm such a nice guy Off to CGC tomorrow morning, here's my guess on the grades... House of Mystery 175 CGC 9.0 House of Mystery 176 CGC 9.2 House of Mystery 208 CGC 9.6 House of Mystery 211 CGC 9.6/9.8 Hopefully, I didn't jinx myself. Stay tuned...
  3. Would any of them be for sale? I'm looking for a VF+ NM WH # 7. You are in luck. At least two are coming back from CGC--I'm guessing one will be 9.0 and the other 9.2... PM me in oh say 6 months
  4. I gave shiver my only copy of that ish...I'll defer to him...
  5. I need to read it then...I have a reader copy on hand... I love those Witching Hours. Looks like I'll have plenty of duplicates in the 1-20 range in no time. Those 20 center copies appear more elusive than I had hoped...
  6. Another one that got away. I guess I can enjoy my 8.0 a while longer
  7. I knew that! It was punishment bidding....I knew had no chance in hell of winning, so I thought I would make him pay prices for them... maybe he will leave the books in the next auction so people with BUDGET CONSTRAINTS can get a shot in
  8. Wacky prices you guys are paying. BOC, any acquisitions you want to show n tell?
  9. I've got my eyes on an almost complete Sorcery set now....
  10. Wacky prices you guys are paying. I got HOM 194, 196 and Witching Hour 3, 14 at the vault--all Oakland. Didn't get them cheap, but didn't go "as" overboard like the HOM 185 and sure as hell didn't pay $1k like redf1shing did on HOM 182 and 184. (The only other WH 3 9.6 I know of is charging $500 for the book). Also got WH 11, SOSH 17, and Ghosts 46. Probably the last time I buy on eBay, because I'm going to get my books from other sources (and cheaper). But hey, what do I see....a HOS 89 CGC 9.4?
  11. Check out this crazy sheott! House of Mystery #182 CGC 9.6 25x NM guide??? House of Mystery #184 CGC 9.6 25x NM guide??? Bonds, post this on the WTF thread. Of course, I am part of the conspiracy, but I'm tired of him foiling all of my plans
  12. Damn redf1shing at the vaultauctions-on all of the high grade HOM. Time to separate the insufficiently_thoughtful_persons from the dumb arses
  13. I want this copy. Willing to sell it? EDIT: Grabbed the correct image this time..... Jim sorry, it's my only copy I do have other dups coming back from CGC sometime in the next 6 months If they don't have the insert, I don't want them.... Nice copy by the way..... Jim Thanks, Jim! Actually I do have some (I believe) with the inserts coming back--I'll advise you if that's the case. There's also a couple of "double cover" Witching Hour Issues...
  14. I want this copy. Willing to sell it? EDIT: Grabbed the correct image this time..... Jim sorry, it's my only copy I do have other dups coming back from CGC sometime in the next 6 months
  15. OK, three more scans before I The WMT 20 has a Jewler insert and is tough (IMO) to find in high grade. This one should grade out at least at 9.4. The HOM 282, while technically a Modern, is tough because of a "bonus" comic--does anyone remember what it was? I think this one is a 9.4 The WWT 64 is probably a VF+, but is somewhat key because of Frank Miller's first art for DC.
  16. Yep, that's my problem. Unless I frequent the cons, I NEVER see a book in person. And most of the dealers could give a rat's arse about my "quest". But, I'm finally getting a network going, thanks to comments here about good dealers and folks on this fine board.... Everyone, give yourself a hand Greggy, I will "thrill joy/bid" on the Sandman #1...
  17. VFs....the corners are very prone to damage due to the thickness of the books... Same reason why 100 pagers are hard to find in nice shape... (Unless you are greggy that is)
  18. I've got a TON of "NM" House of Mystery Dollar Comics from eBay. Care to guess what they really are?
  19. Three more books from my collection. Unfortuantely, my 100 pager has pretty good corners, but those couple of problems at ULC and bottom prevent 9.0 or better
  20. I'm tempted to pay for his $300+ 9.6 HOM 193 to be CGC certified, so I can quench my curiosity about the true grade of the book.
  21. I tend to agree. I'm not out to get Pedigree books. But since I am trying to compile a high grade DC mystery collection, I think Mike's comment about the pedigree books being the highest in the CGC rings true. Many of the HOM I have (Oakland) and want to get (Pacific Coast) all are #1 in the census. That is the only reason why I would want them--more for the high grade. The fact that they are pedigrees are secondary (in my mind). BTW, I'm seeing a trend where pedigrees don't necessarily command a premium for the book unless it's top rated. Anyone else seeing this?
  22. Got a 9.2 from Doug Sullipa on the way! I just got his order this week--awesome books, high gloss--simply superb!
  23. Would you believe Nickkat!!!! He advertised it as a 9.6 I think, and, while I don't think it's that nice, it's a great looking copy of a tough book. Oh yeah, I got mixed up. I saw that you had bid on it...I lost out to a bunch of Ghosts books from nickkat to my friend redf1shing....he paid dearly for them though...
  24. Nice books, Mike! And the books are raw too? They all look 9.0 or better... Sid, don't worry. It's just a case of 'comic ego'
