  1. Heads up--I will be attempting to place a large number of auctions up this weekend to assist with my mom financially. I hate using reserves, but some of these will be my babies and I don't want them to go cheap. Just a heads up that there may be something of interest there in this genre. Detailed list to follow in the marketplace. (Lots of key Spideys in high grade as well). Hope everyone is doing well. Peace, Sterling
  2. Thanks! Please thrill bid on my books when they go up. A ton of scanning to do this weekend I have a large batch of books to get to this weekend--I should have a "hit list" for you this weekend
  3. How much did that puppy go for? I have a ton of good GA HOM that I'm selling as well--some of those early issues (10 to 50) downright nuts to find. A bit off key, but I love "My Greatest Adventure","Mystery in Space", "Strange Adventures", and other 50's sci fi/mystery type DC comics as well. I may keep some issues, but I need to rebuild my collection correctly. I was pretty directionless early on, and in addition many books, although very nice and worthy of being a collectible, needs an upgrade to be part of my "future" collection. Clear as mud, huh?
  4. Yeah, I think it's just the luck of the draw and being in the right place at the right time. I do think that there is a distinct connection with the "hard to find" issues from DC at around the same time Ghosts 60-69 were published, as I think that publishing numbers across all mystery books probably went down due to disinterest from the buying public.
  5. I'm selling my Weird War Tales 1 VF raw on ebay soon. In fact, I'm selling them all (Weird War)...major consolidation of my collection underway....
  6. Why do you say that? I admit I have a grim reaper fetish. I just looked at your avatar, looked at the cover, and saw a connection That's cool, not jabbing you at all. I love that Cardy cover
  7. OK, 9.2 or better....I've only been collecting the series since 2002 so my experience may not be enough, but of late: HOM: 220, 226,228,233,235,236,237,240,256,262,264,320 HOS: 110,113,120,124,126,132,134-138,146,147,152,153 I have all of these issues, just not in high grade. I'm not implying these are "tough", just that I haven't run into any.
  8. I've been kicking myself since the only 9.6 sold from showcase-newengland last year
  9. wow, I didn't know this cover even existed? Where can I find out more info on this? Very fascinating!!!!
  10. Don't give him any bright ideas--he might adjust them again! (but in all fairness, HOS 103 is way easier to find than the only HOM 282 and 284 9.6 in the census-I know of at least 3 locations where a CGC 9.4 exists if I wanted one--and I already have two).
  11. Actually, I see the LLC ding, didn't see the chips--nice hawk eye there! I don't see the crunch in the ULC (EDIT: OK, large scan YES, I see it) I think it is definitely a 9.2 graded on a good day however. Two of the three in the census are from the Pacific Coast pedigree. Does anyone think this book is common in grade as the book in the auction? I never see one available, and when I do, it's maybe VG+ to FN+. It's a tough one (as are all of the Adams covers in that run). So, pov, I think technically you are right, but it's probably the closest thing to a 9.4 that most folks will see out of this book. I may be proved wrong when collections are sold and subsequently certified, but until then...
  12. I keep telling myself to pick up some Charltons... once I get settled on my DC kick I will do that... nice books
  13. ..and last (well not really, but for the 20 cent covers...) HOM 218. I had several copies, my best only reaching 9.0...
  14. Also need to upgrade my HOM 216--probably only a 9.0...
  15. How about the scorpion cover--HOM 220? Anyone have a "spare" NM/NM+ copy?
  16. I have ZERO copies, never even read it.... how deprived I am.... BTW, does anyone know where I can get a NM/NM+ copy of HOM 192? The copy I have was sold as NM but I saw a chip in the corner and looks like it has a foxing problem... Another eBay special.
  17. #1 for me right now is House of Secrets 81 in 9.4 or better... But as far as ranges--HOM 174-190 and HOS 81-91 in all 9.4 or better slap slap Oh, back to reality--- FN+ or better it is!
  18. Not necessarily, and I feel better....you have to understand--everytime I lost a book on eBay, it was always him...kinda like Jan of Brady Bunch: Marsha! Marsha! Marsha! Except now its redf1shing! redf1shing! redf1shing! Always bidding "crazy money"--just look at the WTF thread, Glad I could help with the crash, BOC-I do have collectors in mind here because we all want low low prices! And it's like pulling up the value of my "Stock"--so I can quickly unload while the getting is good.
