  1. Like that WWT 38---was that a bobcat.enterprises special?
  2. Currently, because I'm evaluating "to keep or sell" I have my books all over the place. I'm getting close and personal to them now as we speak
  3. I'm stoked about this one. There's only one HOM 208 listed in the census, and I got it...except it's been taken out of the CGC case. I will use my express tier certificate along with a HOM 211 that I think should grade 9.6-9.8.
  4. It's Sterling to lose. Oh...those other books are for sale. Whether I want to auction them off or sell directly depends on the offer. It's moot until I get the books in hand. Details still being worked out to get 71 books back to me. If I end up getting the Ghosts #4 9.6 I will offer my 9.4 to anyone interested...
  5. It's all good. I like sharing in the adventure of the quest for horror....and, if nothing else, I'll know who my competition is and who I could trade with. I'll gladly steer away from "most" books if I see a member bidding on it first. And, I will have some dups coming from CGC that I will need to find a good home. Truly, if I'm able to show others the value that I saw in these books when I was 9, then I think I've done my job.
  6. no problem, BOC! Now that I have you all diverted to these horror gems.... Go eat some and wait...
  7. I hope you told him he has two or three customers from the CGC boards waiting for those issues.... I do have some nice 9.0/9.2 Ghosts on the way from him...I guess what frustrates me is that I've been asking for about 2 years to LMK if he gets this stuff. I know he's not here just to suit my fancy; just wish I had more advance warning. I guess I can call 800 CRY-WAHH It's getting too crazy for some of this bronze stuff. I might just wait another 10 years when people stop collecting comics altogether Then I can get them for pennies on the dollar.
  8. Gang, That's the one. Doug is the man. Keep in mind that his grading is usually on the VERY CONSERVATIVE side, and in most cases, a CGC grade would be higher. Man, I am pissed. I e-mailed him just 3 hours after receipt of the e-mail!!! I've ransacked all of his other high grade DC horror, so don't bother
  9. HI gang. Just trying to keep this alive here... I found a full set of Ghosts #60-#69 that averages 9.4 today... what kind of dumb luck is that? Anybody else get any recent finds? The vendor sends his list and I respond with 4 hours, and the books are already sold. So, my luck is apparently back to normal.
  10. cool story, but he just needs to get over himself. Geesh. I guess we should kiss his foot for making him rich, huh?
  11. Actually I was also in a rush, and being impatient. I am usually very cautious about such things. It was a bad comic karma day for me. Rookie! Feel better?

  13. Yep, I live in Charlotte. (Actually, I just pay my mortgage there, but that's another story). yep, I actually went to Heroes just last week to get some new bags and boards for books I'm sending to shiver...and unfortunately a DC 100pager met an untimely demise as a result of my stupidity. (and for those who already read about that in the other thread--THIS IS THERAPY FOR ME). They generally had "new" issues and "current/Modern" issues. Most of the silver age was midgrade, and all superhero. Not one DC or Marvel or EC or Charton horror book in the place. I was shocked! I plan on going this year to the con with a different perspective. When I went back in 2000 I bought just about anything I saw--now I am the dreaded "picky collector". If nothing else I'll stop by and say hi to all of dealers I haven't seen face to face in a while. Now, if CGC would only visit... I re-read "The Demon Within" the other day. What a sad sad story! Definitely a shocking ending! It's sending a message to kids that adults don't want their kids to be different in a creative way. Shiver loves the Bunny story--it stood out for me as I picked it up off the stands as a kid.
  14. Actually I haven't been to many cons--I've been in Chicago for the last seven months. Charlotte isn't exactly a "high profile" con event. I look forward to meeting you at one of these in the future. When is the next Chicago event?. My wife loves the Cubs so it can be a glorious event. I can see it now... "Wow --great looking HOM 203 cover." "Uh sir, I saw that first. It's mine." "Nope-no way. I saw it first..." Greggy, shouldn't you be checking your CGC grades...
  15. Just stay away from the BINs at the Charlotte Comic-Con---they will be raided first thing Friday morning
  16. Looks like they recycle title names too.... Weird Mystery Tales? Where was this produced?
  17. Is his ID "mysteryman"? No silly boy--redf1shing...
  18. I don't know why, but when I see that cover it totally reminds me of a Witching Hour issue (maybe the witch)
  19. Well, if and when I get back home (storms in WI last night prevented me from getting back home to see my beloved family ) I will be using my Express certificate to get three books graded. My books and estimates below: House of Mystery 175 CGC 9.2 House of Mystery 208 CGC 9.6 House of Mystery 211 CGC 9.6 So, I'm playing a little guessing game with myself. I'll post back when they return. (I really think the 211 is a 9.8 but I don't want to jinx myself).
  20. Here's a cheesy 30 cent cover from HOM 250 (looks like a Ghosts cover reject) Here's HOM 241 which reminds me of the Adams HOM 177 Classic Cover (not the art, just the fact it's about cats)
