  1. I didn't bid on it. I want the players out of the market for the book before I pick it up. I would've paid more than this though if privately offered. Oh and if I had money.
  2. I was able to win back a HOS #91 9.4 with better QP and PQ and for $100 cheaper than the 9.4 OW/W pages copy I sold last year when I had the illusion that I was going to upgrade to a 9.6.
  3. Yeah, this one went WAAAYYY faster than it should have. Premature conclusion if you will. The issue can literally be described in two sentences. Morgan's disposition is kinda out there. I think the whole clan is losing it! Adlard's covers are hit and miss, but he's been shooting 100% on all of the Zombie covers...I can't recall a run where I've seen so many!
  4. Also, don't forget the archives... There are currently three House of Mystery volumes (Showcase Presents), a House of Secrets volume...and also Creepy, Eerie, and Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery...can't go wrong with any of them (and, with the exception of the Dark Horse books, cheap)
  5. Just saw this today...another one to add to the bronze "horror and superhero crossover" checklist. That vamp looks A LOT like Christopher Lee back in the Hammer film days... I'm sure I've forgotten to add a few...check out my progress by downloading it: http://ftp.datazap.net/ftp/sterlingcomics/superhero_horror_checklist.xls
  6. Thanks Ash! I'm getting spoiled with all of these Zombie covers
  7. What's the cover for #60 again? Man, I hope the cover for #59 is actually a sequence in the book! Carmageddon Time! I don't want to put a curse on the book, but he's really surprised me for the last 4 months being on-time with issues. I'd like to see him quietly (without fanfare) complete a full year with no lapse.
  8. A very belated formal thanks to tatterdemalion for books I purchased many many many moons ago.
  9. Hey All, There's a cute HOS #83 White Pages 9.4 (doesn't look as sharp as the #179) but the seller wants $840. I ran it up but got auto-declined...so if anyone is nuts enough to pull the trigger, go for it. Sterling
  10. Nice info...and agreed. The White pages are definitely worth a premium on that book...I also see that often on #174.
  11. My offer didn't have any strings attached to grade (although I was going to complain if they didn't come back 9.4 or better), and my understanding based on our conversation was that you weren't even remotely interested in selling either one (although you seemed to be more positive about #175). You waivered on the 179 (and later indicated you were not selling it) and never bothered negotations further. I even went so far as to say go get them graded so you can ask for more. I wasn't happy taking all the risk with raw. You said you weren't going to grade them. I contacted you several times over the next year or so just to see where you were at. Nothing happened. It was definitely an excellent starting point that had room to go up, but you didn't bother, which I took as your unwillingness to sell (most people would start with counteroffers if they were interested). If you had lines of people waiting to meet or exceed my initial price without negotiations on the raw books, then I stand corrected. Apparently the art of negotation must be an absolute mystery to me (pun intended). I'm sure a ton of people can attest to the money I've paid dearly for this title...this is one title I do want to complete. Good luck on the sale. I'm sure it will do well.
  12. I'd like to bid on it...but my best shot was when I was offering crazy money for the book raw. I'm not touching this one at all...so go for it. I'm sure between the pedigree, Adams collectors and one or more HOM fanatics like myself it's going to be tuff enough without me. Seeing the books come out like this give me hope that I can wait until enough copies spill over into the market. As for the seller, he should've priced the books at 175 ($500) 176 ($700) and 179 ($1,500-$2,000). Congrats to LordRahl...
  13. I've already tried to negotiate with him for the books...so that's no longer a possibility It will be interesting to see if the graded price exceeded what I was willing to pay for it raw.
  14. Yes I plan on holding it for a while but Sterling is right, IMO $800 was a steal for that book. Even though horror has considerably cooled off, I'd be willing to bet the price of that book that at auction it goes well over $1K. Congrats on the book...just curious...when did you hit the BIN?
  15. I just found it now--over 12 hours later. Actually, considering past prices, $800 was a steal. In fact, I think the seller left money on the table. Nice White Pages and the cut, while not perfect, is straight. The buyer of that book could easily make $400 in an easy flip. The curse of HOM 175, 179 and 190 continues for me. I would've loved to have that 175 be a 9.4 Sterling - I agree. Had I seen the book listed, I believe my bank account would be a good bit lighter today... I'd sell my carpy Marvel and superhero books if I had too...

I would've loved to have that 175 be a 9.4 It's incredible that people sell these books on an open exchange knowing it's one of the few books on my "gotta have" list that I would pay a premium for. So if you include the 10% cut they lost about $500.
  17. These look like some of the pull from the con this weekend? Nice I think that tiny tiny tear on the Unexpected is the only thing preventing ubber greatness...very sharp!
  18. I've always loved that cover! More COWs coming at ya...
  19. These 1975 books have continued to elude me...this one no more...I don't even mind the COW pages...
  20. The Zombies seem kinda passe as the threat now...they appear to be tools a la Romero style to make a point or send home a specific message...specifically WE ARE THE WALKING DEAD.
  21. Agreed. If you blink, you miss the original content!
