  1. Why do you suppose people get so worked up and energized to share how much they didn't like something? I'm surprised by the strong desire to express dissatisfaction (or perhaps hidden satisfaction?) that this movie wasn't everything they hoped for or everything it might have been. Seems like a strong desire to shout negativity to me instead of highlighting the really cool stuff. "I'm such a big fan of the characters that I can't be positive about their largest, most financially successful expression in history."
  2. Entitled much? You honestly think someone at WB was like "Yeah, here's a $250 million check +marketing budget so you can half- it - screw our fans...we COULD be better than Marvel, but I'm feeling lazy today..."
  3. This is the review I think I like the most on the film - seems to hit the nail on the head for me: http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2016/03/29/the-critics-must-be-crazy-batman-v-superman-is-fantastic/#4f9128ec1cc5 Quote: "Tense, dark, and beautifully shot, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice may not be a critical darling, but it’s a tremendously good superhero movie nonetheless. Could it have been better? Most definitely. But the critical consensus seems way off this time around. Of course, there’s no accounting for taste, and liking or disliking a film is purely a matter of personal opinion. I liked this one a lot, and it surprises me that so many of my peers seem to disagree so vehemently."
  4. I really like DC heroes. It was really fun to see an epic story about 3 of the best DC heroes (my 3 favorites). Don't need to go all "Citizen Kane" to let myself feel like a kid again and really enjoy them. Critics are just pirates in Neverland
  5. Just got back. Really liked it. I avoided all the trailers beforehand so I didn't have the spoiler problem and really like it a lot. Wonder Woman was a boss. I liked the Luthor was a character being developed not finished with in a single film. Batfleck was very good actually and I was a skeptic of that. It's not a perfect movie - but I thought they fit a TON of story in it as well as a bunch of easter eggs. Great contained story as well as setup for Justice League. It's not my all time favorite comic movie, but I thought it was very good. I'll see it again.
  6. If they think Lobo can compete with Deadpool at the theaters, they've got some weird koolaid - and I'm a big DC fan over Marvel.
  7. I agree - I don't care for the style. Wish it was the traditional BT style. But the voice actors sound amazing.
  8. That's a fantastic page. I've always thought Capullo's art in raw form is quite a bit better than the published, colored work. I don't know why, but while some work is really enhanced by colorists (big fan of Alex Sinclair's work), Capullo's seems to really pop without it.
  9. I feel that the Loeb/Lee/Williams/Sinclair "HUSH" is going to be looked upon as one of the most classic storylines of Batman and comics in general, where the prices will keep on going up since it seems rare to find pieces available in the market for sale and most are in private collections of fans who love 'em. In that, I'd personally rather have a Hush panel page over any Capullo cover any day because the artwork means more to me than being just an aesthetic pin-up of sort. It's one of the finest examples of great storytelling. I only wish I'd gotten into buying artwork when Albert Moy had pages available years ago. The last Comic Link auctions of last year had a couple Jim Lee Hush pages in them I think. Maybe I'm wrong. Hush pages have come up from time to time, and Jim Lee himself has very recently been selling some outstanding pages from his collection on Heritage. I believe the next Heritage auction has a couple Batman/Superman fight pages. Scott Yes, I followed the most recent Heritage Auction closely and tried to bid on several of the pages - but it all went out of my range (which is on the low end for the OA world). I agree it's iconic work by all 3 artists. I have been able to get a panel page each from Albert using some time payments from their work on Justice League, Unchained, and Batman Europa over the last several years. Someday Hush may be realistic for me but it's probably a race between value growth and my own savings rate.
  10. This. And referencing the Jim Lee market again, if we had not "seeded" some of our Hush art early on (for what seemed like aggressive prices at the time but relatively cheap now), we would not have cultivated a market price point progression. Valuations are not usually very meaningful when created in a vacuum. Scott Much to the dismay of guys like me who would absolutely love to get a page from Hush - maybe someday
  11. Batgirl seems unimpressed with Thor... Amazing shelf there.
  12. For what it's worth, I actually really liked the story and cover ! Dan Jurgens did some amazing "done-in-one" stories and this was a good read ! Congrats on this amazing gem and even more so for having such a wonderful soulmate ! Thanks! - to clarify, I actually really like the story and find it both impactful and still very relevant. I just meant it wasn't like a big action story or something out of a famous arc. I really love a lot of Dan's work! For anyone who hasn't read this issue - pick it up!
  13. Occasionally I'll see here or on CAF a story about how some wife or girlfriend was amazing and bought an incredible piece of art for their significant other. Every time I saw something like that, I wished that my wife had enough comic knowledge to do the same. Let me be clear, my wife rocks and after 9 years or marriage I'm still super stoked I get to be with her. But, for as supportive as she is about my enjoyment of comics, she doesn't share that passion. Well, this Christmas, she blew me away with this surprise: I can't be 100% sure because as a kid my love of super heroes didn't actually start with comic books - I didn't start collecting until much later so I didn't really keep track. But one of the very first (if not the first) comics I owned was Superman 121. The story wasn't really cool (although it's amazing how relevant it still is today), but the cover really grabbed me - very powerful. Well, many years later I learned that cover was hanging in a local comic shop. I'm sure I showed my wife on one of the 2 occasions she's ever been there with me, but I was also sure she was only half paying attention. Boy was I wrong. Without so much as hinting, she went to the shop and opened a negotiation with the owner to buy it for me. Took her a couple days of calling an going back in, but he finally let it go. An incredible gift and my first OA cover, from possibly the first book I ever owned (did I mention my wife rocks?):
  14. I can't tell if this is interesting or not. To the non-hard core fans (this coming from a guy who threw a Star Wars party on Thursday night complete with games, a Star Wars cookie cake, light saber prizes etc.) - a Star Wars story which doesn't focus around the Jedi, lightsabers, and the force, just doesn't sound very good.
  15. Hulk looks really confused about what's going on down the line, there. Well, he is in the wrong universe. I just couldn't pass up that statue. Love it. Amazing collection
  16. Yeah - great episode last night. I'm enjoying it more and more.
  17. Never underestimate the market for exposition of young teen girls ... Would otherwise be a nice cover I think.
  18. Thanks! It is custom - took over a year and a lot of help
  19. From a fellow fan - nice cowl! Here's a Wearable
  20. Yeah. I was pretty shocked to see the JJ spoilers being brought up literally the minute after the show finished airing. We really need to put these things in spoiler tags. It just isn't fair. I was so disappointed when I saw these spoilers. Dont come on here until after you watch Flash tonight. Same thing will happen in Flash's thread. Easy enough to use spoiler tags. We've been doing it pretty regularly here, which is why I felt comfy coming in yesterday, only to be spolied. Simple courtesy. ....sorry. Won't happen again. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(A friend of jesus) Jimbo! ....it was pretty dense of me to not consider the time lag...... GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) Spoiler tags are great. On the other hand - when you notice the thread has a bunch of responses right after the show has aired, it's also fair to assume the conversation is about the most recent episode. If it's that much of a bother, might make sense to suspect something could have been absent mindedly revealed/discussed - that is sorta the point of the thread and the thing that usually generates posting.
