  1. Nope, they didn't cost me as much as that heritage page went for which is why I was so surprised by the result. In fact I got the first two pages I posted in a group deal that cost me less from the dealer. The Ditko was from Ebay, and also went for much less than the Heritage result. This was the other page on Ebay, but I didn't go after it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Steve-Ditko-Original-Art-ROM-69-page-6-MARVEL-/122966095523?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=zwUapu5gNLOOCVyyE6zx%2B11DkiE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  2. Hey thanks, Readcomix I was really happy to get them since I was striking out left, and right. Luckily I told a dealer that if he got a some ROM pages in to email me, and he remembered. I was also able to pick up one of the ROM pages that was for sale on Ebay a few weeks back. I was really happy to get it, since it shows one of the best scenes, and I just love the dialogue. Not to mention it being from the last issue, bit also penciled by Ditko.
  3. That's really cool! I remember seeing this splash, and even though it doesn't have much ROM in it, thought it was cool how they showed real world figures. I can see this being a nostalgic piece also, since it shows the time it's from.

  5. Didn't know Robot Chicken did a scene with ROM.
  6. When it started to skyrocket in price from what people have said.
  7. Giving this a bump. Was able to get some things on my list, and at least found the location of others so this does work. Are you wiped from the recent heritage, and comiclink auctions, and have something I might be interested? PM me, and maybe we can remedy that!
  8. Was looking at two things, and was able to get one, so not so bad.
  9. Not sure if I'll win anything this round, was able to grab something nice a few weeks back, and in their last featured auction so we'll see if that streak is still going.
  10. I always liked the way he drew Dr.Doom, and was nice to see him do a splash of him in each issue from FF84-86
  11. It doesn't show up on the thumbnail for some reason, but it is posted.
  12. Sure, I think it would have a few advantages. The first being that it's from the very first issue. I've noticed that art from issue 1's tend to go for a bit more than their counter parts. I went after a page from Moon Knight #1, and drove it up to the mid 3k range before I bailed as an example, I wouldn't have bid it up that high, nor the other person if it wasn't from that issue. It being issue 1 also makes it a key issue with that page also counting as ROM's first appearance in comics, making it a key page in a key issue, with it also having nice imagery. Scarcity is another factor since I've never seen a page from issue #1 offered, or even posted anywhere making it rare, probably because again it comes from a key issue. A major thing also for original art is how we put it in a hierarchy. Covers go for the most, followed by splashes, and title pages, and than panel pages by content as the standard formula, though it can be mixed up on rare occasions. This is not only a nice splash, but is the title splash, which automatically puts it at the top value than the other pages, with only the cover really beating it. The splash page also isn't boring either, but has nice aesthetics, having a nice full figure front facing ROM emerging from the crater, so great content also. Lastly, are the known ROM focused collectors themselves. Like the saying goes you only need 2 to drive up an auction, and I can think of a few ROM collectors who wouldn't have a problem getting bloody to get it, especially since for them it would be a grail level piece, with only the cover to issue 1 really topping it IMO. I mean how many chances would they have at getting a page from issue 1, especially the splash itself? So when you consider all these factors I think the ROM splash would bring in a nice number for who ever was selling it. I would even throw my own hat into the ring honestly for a shot at it.
  13. Would it be a correcting, or would certain eras just start going for more, while others go down? I see 80's, and 90's art starting to heat up, but wonder how much art from the 50's-60's will maintain, or increase in value when many of the people who have that as their nostalgic time period pass on, or retire from the hobby. Not to mention when dealers start retiring, and start selling off the bulk of their pieces. Will it be one large sale, or done in a few auction cycles? Some pieces no matter what would surely go down in value since the smaller presumed market wouldn't be able to absorb it all, or even value it the same way.
  14. On another note, I was able to get two ROM pages a few months back, and never got around to posting them. Here you go.
  15. You think Ditko's work on ROM was bad? I think some of the faces on some characters were weird, but thought it was good over all. This page that sold recently for example looks pretty good. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Steve-Ditko-Original-Art-ROM-69-page-6-MARVEL-/122966095523?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=gY2P8G1F3cBLVL2C4NMk%2F9SwEsc%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc And yeah a lot of people would be going after that issue 1 title splash. I could see it going for a premium for a few reasons.
  16. That makes sense with how much a ROM # 9.8 can go for now, when before they weren't considered anything special. Will be interesting to see what a nice Ditko page will go for in a decently advertised auction. More than Buscema?
  17. That was a really great issue, and very similar to how the dynamics between the Silver Surfer, and Galactus worked but with ROM. Galactus even saying how ROM reminded him of the Silver Surfer.
  18. Thoughts on the price of this piece of ROM art? Didn't expect that at all. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/panel-pages/sal-buscema-rom-4-story-page-3-original-art-marvel-1980-/a/121808-14027.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116
  19. Not in the featured auction, but the one that ended today. Thought the price was surprising for it even though it was a nice early issue battle page. Is this in line with early ROM, and have prices really increased that much? https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/panel-pages/sal-buscema-rom-4-story-page-3-original-art-marvel-1980-/a/121808-14027.s?ic2=mybidspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyBids-101116
  20. I was really tempted to go after that R/B page myself, since I have memories of watching the tv show they made when I was younger, but decided to pass. Was surprised to see it go for much less than the continuation page right after it that was in the last featured auction.
  21. Thanks Foggy, sadly I sold it a few months back, but plan to put the proceeds into collecting, so at least the money will stay in the hobby!
  22. I think you can find a few of the Kubert covers from their previous auctions being resold on comicconnect.
