  1. Maybe it is just me but it seems like they are using the names of writers and artist from GA past and present in the show. In episode 2 the judge was named Grell which could be a nod to Mike Grell and the file the girl was looking for near the start of episode 3 was for the Jurgens case unless I heard her wrong.

Diggle the bodyguard, Andy Diggle wrote Green Arrow Year One

  2. I dont really have too much time for the TV, I prefer to watch old stuff that I have on DVD or Hard drive.

I record about 10 progs a week and even then I never get around to watching them much.

Arrow is the first program i've seen on the tv in about a year

  3. I thought I'd get some opinions before proceeding.

I've done the outline on the Nick Fury #1... my question regarding original art is, do they add the shading to the piece as well or is it left at simply the outline?

In the below pic, I need to re-ink it as the pen ran out and the lines are weak after erasing the pencils, its needs touch up as well.

Usually my next task is to add all the shading in like I've done with all the previous.... what do you guys think?

pencillers add the shading and inkers generally have the task of seemlessly turning black into white with ink that can only be black

the picture up there is kind of half and half in terms of done by head and copied, i have somewhat of a good memory for pictures and i did it from my head from a photo of a statue, i also try a variation of styles so i'll come back with more

    i wish i had a scanner

  4. I have no problem visualising what I want to do.

Translating that onto the page on how its in my head is another matter!

But if I could get upto drawing from imagination to the same level as my recreations then I would be very happy!

Have you tried using one of the wooden mannequin?

    Mannequin

When I was doing sketches, I used one and it really helps.

    i'm looking at getting this

i have trouble with hands [/Liefeld]

if the Hot Toys had articulated hands they'd be awesome reference, shame about the price

  5. even with a "natural ability" certain techniques are most certainly learned even if self taught, they just have a better eye for judgement and interesting poses...

Which makes it easier and quicker for them to learn the techniques.

oh definately yes, i thought you meant like some people didn't need to learn or something but yes it speeds up learning alot

I've been thinking about taking an art class of some kind.

I'd really love to produce my own stuff but really do suck at it. My latest attempts looks like a 6 year old did it.

learn anatomy and get drawing reference books, after more practice you'll find yourself needing to look at them less and less, i use this

it has some very comic book esq poses in it too which is useful

i wouldn't spend money on classes to be honest, with all the books and youtube video's out there then i dont really see the point, and when you learn the teacher sucks at art you lose all faith in the lesson, watch some youtube video's and get some books

i heard Jim Lee talking about triangular compositions when drawing to make layouts more visually interesting which really works in splash pages and covers and any art, Edvard Munch's Scream uses this...(on the right)
