  1. last episode was good

a nice reveal that i didn't see coming with Tommy's father, too many people know who Olly is for me though, granted its only 2 but from only 7 episodes, 1 I can understand because otherwise he'd spend alot of time alone and its hard to get a story going without dialogue, Huntress finding out kinda makes me think Diggle is going bye bye but at this rate we can expect 4 more to find out his identity before the end of season 1, hopefully no one else finds out this season

  2. I don't pay much attention when they say "this is the hottest summer since 1429" or "this is the foggiest July since 2011" or whatever silly statistic they come up with.

Being a farmer though, I keep a rough track of rainfall and this really is the wettest year I've ever known and my dad who was born in 1930 can't remember one quite as bad as this.

Must be hellish to work in this sort of weather.

    I was thinking the same.

It's better than working in the snow.

Surely that brings most work to a standstill, or am I wrong?

At very least, all the cattle still have to be fed and strawed down. When it gets very cold, the water troughs have to be thawed out every day. My least favourite job is fishing out chunks of ice from freezing cold water so that the water doesn't freeze twice as thick.

i'm sick of cows acting all high and mighty thinking they're too big for an icepop

  3. I haven't ran into this issue yet, because I'm only on my 3rd refill on this pen. But I have heard about this problem. And have a 2nd pen already :)

I also recently purchased a bunch of Winsor and Newton Series 7 brushes. Damn expensive things, but luckily one of the local art supply chains has them at 50% off through the end of the year. Hopefully I can acquire all I need before then.

those Windsor Newton Series 7 up there with the Hunt 102's as artists choice equipment but like you said they're abit pricey

  4. A quick sketch I did last weekend for practice using my Pentel brush pen...

Something I did a couple weeks ago for the owner of my LCS as a thank you

Something I started after Thanksgiving lunch...

i have one of those but i find the bristles turn to quickly, had that problem?

  5. I will continue to watch and see where it goes. My main concern is a lack of knowledge about some of the characters being mentioned like Deathstroke, etc. Even in my collecting heyday I was more focused on precode/prehero.

you dont really need to know, they're not being faithful to the comics with them anyway

  6. I don't mind the barcode, its always been there so it just seems right to me lol. The ads are a different matter, they stick out like a sore thumb.

with a quick search through Batman titles the barcode seemed to appear on the front for the first time

1976, so yeah it's been around for a while

Court of Owls is a great read, Snyder and Capullo are a great pairing

  7. Saw Episode 6 last night.

Not as solid as the previous episodes, but still watchable.

I was watching this and at the same time was selecting books to put in a short box as I was meeting some friends right after the show for beer and books.

I found myself far more interested in my comics than watching the show and I could't tell you what happened because it looked like nothing happened. Some guys in masks robbing banks, one Ollie seemed to know. Shrug.

it was the Royal Flush gang

they seemed to have Olly as Arrow quite alot in this one due to him being

    housebound

last episode, episode 5 was pretty dialogue driven so this one amped up some action

  8. Jock's sketches are first rate - and they weren't expensive at all. I happened to be getting a sketch from John McCrea when Jock turned up at his table next door. He just asked John what he was charging (£20 head sketch, £40 full body) and went with that - at least initially.

Jock's awesome, i wish i was going to Leeds :(

  9. the series is unfolding well, alot of stories developing that seem like they'll all end up joining together, be interesting to see where they go in the future, will he ever make his way through the book or is it as endless as Earl's list in "My Name is Earl"?

the island scenes are getting to be as big a part of the story as the rest too

  10. Just finished watching the first 2, the monologue writing is pretty terrible, but the dialogue isn't - odd there is such a difference. I think I'll continue for another few episodes even though

the guys with guns are worse aims than storm troopers and apparently Green Arrow has no qualms about just killing a lot of people....

monologue writing is poor, hopefully they note feedback and cut it down

Bad referee decisions, players like Suarez and the "rub" that Man U gets is what is making me turn off football these days.

Believe it or not but I would rather watch Reading in the Championship then the Premier League!

did you see the Spurs game? 3 penalties we should have gotten

Haven't ManU had enough decisions against Spurs?

not sure where to start with this, sendings off that weren't fouls,

penalties given for fouls which weren't fouls which were outside the box,

Man U quickly take a free kick backwards, Spurs latch on & take the ball, through

on goal & the ref blows and says he wasn't ready. Christ as a Spurs fan of over 40 years I could literally reel off 100s but you know what they say, a picture is worth a 1000 words.

    spurs.jpg

which sendings off? i cant recall any recent though im probabily wrong

the Carrick penalty a few years back was a hard decision to make, looked worse because woman hater Andy Gray had the technology to watch it in uber slow motion 400 times then complain that the ref got it wrong in real time

the Mendes one was a huge error and hopefully with goal line tech in the future it wont happen

    I did.

But it seems every time I watch Man U, 90% of the time they get the "rub".

i know what you mean, but as a team who has more possession then you generally get more penalties/free kicks than the teams defending.

i still think if you take out the Torres decision the Clattenberg didn't do too badly, tried to let the game run, but Torres forced him to make a decision by going down

for those saying he got clipped, including me, he clearly buckles under the leg that doesn't get clipped

  14. Suarez is an insufficiently_thoughtful_person, the quicker he's out of the league the better

Ivanovic was a definate red, they make those challenges look accidental but they know what they're doing. Torres was clipped and the ref was abit quick with the cards but we've had our fair share of decisions against us this year so you have to take what you get.

News says Chelsea have lodged a complaint about racism from the ref to Mikel, sounds abit made up to me, no one on the pitch reacted accordingly

  15. Preston on Friday, Manchester yesterday.

i was in Manchester yesterday, visit Travelling Man or Forbidden Planet?

i did an anniversary theatre trip

Visited both on the afternoon. Did you see the guy dressed in the black Spidey suit in FP?

yeah, the guy downstairs was dressed as Supergirl aswell but i saw an awesome Silk Spectre who almost got me shouted at by the missus too
