  1. I hear this way too much when comics are brought up in the 90's or in general period " Rob Liefeld destroyed The industry" "He Can't draw feet, faces, remember that cap picture,Pouches etc, etc."well I do however agree(very much)that its true but its way too easy to add to this played out dead horse of a subject. However,I do have a a rather interesting question What is your Favorite Art,Drawing or story by Rob Liefeld? This should be Interesting Can't wait to see what you guys have to say...

Well, since this thread immediately devolved into a bunch of sheep baah-ing the same tired, old criticisms and showing no appreciation or interest in actually discussing art, I'll actually answer the topic itself.

I think this is his best piece ever:

i have no issue discussing art, just waiting for the issue to be brought up

  2. That's a joke...right? Even Liefeld has called his style " a monthly version of Art Adams".

I understand that's what he said (I'm taking your word for it), but Art Adams isn't the first thing that comes to mind. It looks nothing like Adam's work.

Greg Capullo's work on Spawn was basically a copy of McFarlane's style. There are a lot of artists who basically copy other's style.

Liefeld's work is unique (or distinct or whatever you want to call it)...good or bad is preference.

***I'm not taking into account how he destroyed the comic book industry or how he shafted local comic shop owners (a subject I need to read up on)...strictly talking about his art work.

I spoke with Greg about this a few years back and his response was "doesn't really matter who you are and what your style is, if Todd inks you, it ends up looking like Todd's style." (paraphrased by me - not Greg's actual words)

Capullo's best work on Spawn was inked by Miki for me, he enhanced the drawings whereas McFarlane takes over

  3. Obligatory to my Liefled rants:

Rob Liefeld's tweet about his DC editor's tiny pecker after he quit working for them last year reflects his consummate professionalism in the industry.

    Not to mention he has:

Repackaged ideas and concepts to create knock-off characters like Agent America that was so close to Captain America that Marvel threatened him with legal action.

Wanted to buy the rights to Kirby's and Simon's Fighting American character - but deciding it was too much, so he just created a rip-off character to dilute the identity and pressure the rights holders to sell it for cheaper.

Written Image checks to cover personal expenses and pay bills for his non-image publishing venture Maximum Press?

Creating an X-Themed comic team for Malibu Comics while working for Marvel, only to stop production on it after he was threatened with being fired?

Copying art/panels from other artists and not giving credit (to Byrne or Perez for instance)or passing it off as his own?

Head hunting and stealing Image artists along with using Image staff to do promotional work for his own (non-Image) publishing company?

Alll of which are referenced several times over online, I just couldn't find my previous post that had them in it.

No one is perfect, and everyone has skeletons in their closet - but I seriously take issue with someone who believes that acting unprofessional and trampling on creators' rights is perfectly acceptible.

Liefeld is as big a as there is in the business...

  4. Moyes - top story on the national news. doh!

The woes of despondent Man U fans must take precedence.

its kind of a relief, we needed a manager who could guarantee success

Mourinho would have been ideal, he demands performances and isn't scared to make big decisions

Moyes wasn't in charge of Man Utd the last year, the players were

In charge and lazy. They need a kick up their collective backside.

that too, all this season i have referred back to the quote

"I am more afraid of one hundred sheep led by a lion than one hundred lions led by a sheep."

  6. Everton keeping the pressure on. Shame they couldn't beat Palace in midweek.

Moyes' tactics were all wrong for that match, either that or the players weren't sticking to the gameplan

in his post match interview he addressed the right problems, makes you think it's the players not working in the system

be good to see who he brings into the team, Buttner was woeful today but he got little help in terms of tracking back

    Everton did everything right

  7. He kind of explained it last night, it is willful ignorance. He doesn't want to know who it is so he doesn't know who it is. Kinda hard to not know when your kid is a costumed vigilantte who works with the arrow and dating the guy you thought was the arrow.

    kinda like Commissioner Gordon/Batman

    he knows deep down

  8. and MoS got 190 million from product placement

Let me look into this further. When this first was published, total was $170 MM for brand placement revenue.

Superman is already a $170m brand superhero as Man of Steel tops the product placement charts

There may have been an additional $20 MM captured from other advertising that wasn't captured at that point in time.

An article published seven days earlier said it was $160 MM

i knew it was around there (thumbs u

also Dark Knight Rises probabily lost alot of box office money after the events on opening day

i see the point of the thread but 10 years down the line nobody cares about box office and judge the films as they should be

  9. great work and all but there are huge holes in these numbers...

    DVD, VIdeo, Blu Ray sales?

RDJ took a chunk from the Avengers film because he nogotiated his salary from the money it earned

also, it says nothing of quality, i've yet to find someone who thinks Iron Man 3 is better than Dark Knight

the theatre's take out money from profits too

As far as 'holes' in the numbers, I would say with VHS/DVD/Blu-Ray sales this would be another analysis point that captures post-cinema revenue results. But the details are not always clear, depending on how much per-title tracking was in place at a given point in time. So my current analysis focused on what could be a common comparison - cinema results.

With taking the approach of subtracting special profit-sharing arrangements, it would be interesting but also tricky. We would have to know all arrangements that involved DC and Marvel movies to make it fair.

And what about advertising revenue like 'Man of Steel' and its $170 MM success? Again, it would be interesting. But not all movies reveal this information clearly. But it must have had an impact, as now 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' is going like gangbusters with its Carl's Jr/Hardees TV and print ads.
