  1. Just saw it on Disney+ for free and I wish I had the tablet to get my time back. The opening was good and nostalgic and the end (minus the last 10 minutes of schmaltz) was neat but on a whole it was a slog to get through. It was way too long. What was the plot, actually? The god-daughter's motivations were confusing for me. If this is wrong please someone explain -

    Spoiler

she had a deal with the Nazi to sell him half of the tablet that Indy may or may not have but reneges and tries to auction it in Tangiers but steals it again? Did she want to sell it or not? What was she actually trying to accomplish? Why were the CIA and Nazis following her to begin with

? The bad guys kill everybody ("no witnesses") except Indy and the kid for...reasons? Indy was wanted for murders but gets on an international flight with no problem. In the end did they explain how he's back in America and not under arrest?

The editing during chases were a complete mess. For the horse scene they showed the henchmen stealing rides but when they get to subway station the CIA woman was somehow already there, then when Indy rides to the next station she is there too! Quite the mind reader to know he was going to ride down the tracks, and pick the right direction, and get there before him! Incredible. The other chases was just one coincidence after another. Didn't matter what direction Indy turned he inevitably ran into the bad guys. The movie suffers from the "Antagonist is a Bloodhound" trope. No matter where Indy went, Mr. Nazi tracked him down just as Indy found whatever he needed. This is true in all the movies so it's consistent, I guess.

Oh, and the wooden bridge was magically repaired in the cave when they left.

There's about a dozen other things wrong but that's all I can think of after just one watch and no rewatch will happen.

I know, nitpicks and tldr but I had to vent.

As someone who buys more modern newsies than most, i have no problem admitting that there are people who are trying to generate interest in what would otherwise be worthless books by simply focusing on the fact that they are newsstand editions.

If it were solely grass roots collectors driving the modern newsie market because of rarity or collectibility of the books, there would have to be a corresponding burgeoning market for early direct editions from the 70s for the same reasons. And yet, no one talks about premiums for directs from that era.

And I think the reason for that is that the hype-sters don’t have access to those direct editions at friendly price points like they do for moderns. The classic hype what you have to sell.

Yup. I've always found it strange that there is zero talk about those early direct market comics. In theory they should be just as rare as late era newsstands, no?

I could have swore this would have pegged a 9.8, which is why I sent it in. Not a bend, tick, fingernail impression, blunted corner - nothing :

    Last 9.8 sale: $22

That makes my 9.6 worthless in every sense of the word. $35 or whatever to grade, shipping costs, the cost of the book to begin with ($10) and initial shipping ($6). :frustrated: I just wanted this as a 9.8 on my bookshelf, because I felt a 9.6 was pretty much worthless. Irony.

When Taylor Swift turns into Zombie Dazzler and starts dancing in Deadpool 3 you will be a very rich man.

Note: I just made this up so do not quit your day job.

Some member, can’t acknowledge the company that brought people together.

I always find myself defending CGC on these boards from a vocal minority that feel compelled to trash the company and their decisions on virtually all threads.

It’s sad to see how a company goes out of its way to create and monitor a message board, specifically to help create a community, only to help develop a vocal minority constantly hack and trash them with their toxic attitudes.

Do you not see the irony here? The OP was complaining about a CGC policy and you took his side against the very company you say you defend.

True enough, but I haven't seen the "vault" term used in much advertising, as opposed to "limited edition labels.".

I could be reading it wrong. I don't really keep up with them. I've bought them, as it was what was affordable though 😂

Disney is the only other company that I can think of that used the term "vault". They experienced the same complaints when they re-released videos from the vault decades later. Some people thought vault meant retired permanently, I guess.
