  1. This will be huge. I have a good 'tip' that the print run is less than 13,000. Not a lot of interest outside these boards - plus no variants. However I do expect a 4 cover horseman variant - which will blast the print run into 'x' territory. Too obvious not to. Its one of these that 'everyone will' and 'not many did'. Hopefully.
  2. I'm proud to say I stuck by my decision and have not purchased a single copy. So there.
  3. Rachel Rising is fantastic. And so is The Last Zombie - maybe we should have a 'lets save a comic' thread. Don't you already have a load of art and issues of the last zombie. Maybe that is clouding your judgement Terry Moore on the other hand is creating an outstanding book with Rachel Rising and probably deserves it more. No thats a finished mini-series - "Nazi Zombies". The Last Zombie is by Brian Keene and is unrelated. It's on its 5th arc know and will finish up at the end of it. So,no,I don't have anything to do with it - but thanks for thinking otherwise, and trying to score a smartarse point instead of supporting the comic.

  5. See my previous post - re learning from Kurtis mistakes..... We will see much more off this. How it should be - creators earning off thier products not retailers.
  6. Errr - let me think... Maybe someone from the 'creative team' who has learnt from Kurtis Wiebes mistakes and has nailed the collective greed of this forum to pay $150 for exactly the same comic with a different coloured cover. I'm normally very supportive of this board vs CG, but in this case - insanity has taken over.
  7. Not a hater, J (and not sure if this was directed at me). Just keeping it real. If I had one of the hottest books out, I would want to put out THE variant to be had at a con (or as a retailer appreciation). As I have said before, ultimately it helps Image by keeping the 'buzz' going, encouraging new readers, and increasing sales. Sales = extended life of the book and other positive side effects. (thumbs u Not intentionally directed at you at all my friend. I'm just saying some people think all variants are bad at that creators shouldn't profit from them. Personally I feel the exact opposite...if there's a variant that is selling strongly and I like it...like this comicspro one if possible I'd rather buy from the creator. I'm guessing I *might* be being referred to here FWIW, I don't dislike all variants. Just the mass produced store cash-grab ones. Creators and the original publishers only - carry on - no problem from me.
  8. Where is there a growing backlash? Thought Bubble...good way to get UK readers excited CBLDF $5/10 each and all monies goes to charity ComicsPro...a way to reach retailers These aren't shop variants or mass produced books. No one has to buy them but strategically I think all were made with a purpose and I doubt it was to line the creators pockets. Read the last 2 or 3 pages quite a few people commenting about the increasing amounts.
  9. I'd probably end up eating the goose
  10. Wonder if Eric Stephenson is reading the growing backlash against multiple variants. This board is generally a few months ahead of the general public. GPA should be quite interesting, not to mention ebay CS in a few months time. You can only exploit the golden goose for so long.
  11. Its probably me - but I reckon the 'van driver' deliberately missed Michonne, I mean how could she miss from 3 feet with a gun set to automatic? Thats what made me think it was Andrea. As for finding the prison - if she took the van and the drivers 'armour' then the driver would have told her. Either way, any show that keeps people talking is 200% awesome in my book!
  12. The Last Zombie - please please please... The comic will stop if sales don't go up - its fricken awesome - you can get it at cover or less anywhere! This ain't about flipping, this is keeping a great title going. I'll do a shout-out on Sunday on Ryans show - Brian Keene and APE are top top guys. Support this comic book!
  13. You selling SA keys - I'm interested! PM me mate!
  14. Thats uncanny. I was just about to post "how are sales going" when I saw this. I'm up to 3 this week @ $80 + postage (blue 9.8) I am reluctant to list the variants (IMAGE!!... ) until I get a more "secure' vibe. Saying that, I still have quite a few Revival #1 9.8's to sell - plus a heap of 1:10's. What are everyones plans - stick or twist?
  15. http://thechocolatebrigade.tumblr.com/post/43541581402/michonne-trigger-warning-rape And then there is this not so funny stuff. Where does the anger come from - they know its fiction right?
  16. http://geektyrant.com/news/2013/2/20/15-things-you-didnt-know-about-the-walking-dead-infographic.html Bit of boring sillyness!
  17. Well Fosters is Australian for beer They usually pick that Fosters is Australian for s hit - its grim they tell me. I only drink cider. No spirits or wine or beer. Thats what amuses me when people assume I have had 'a couple' when I say something I do admit I have posted tipsy a couple of times though...
  18. I don't drink beer mate - true!
  19. Thanks my man - Ryan doesn't want me upsetting his new guest on the next podcast - right Ryan...
  20. So as to not bore the others Lets take this to PMs.
  21. They don't print the variants -- we do. In the case of retail exclusives, a store or a group of stores will express interest in buying a set number of copies of an exclusive cover in addition to what they would typically order. If it's something like a ComicsPro variant or an RRP cover, those are done as a "thank you" to the retail community. CBLDF variants are generally done to help promote the Fund, and I think it's a good way to help raise awareness of both the work they do and the books involved in the program. No matter what the case, we print the books, and we control the print runs. -e.s. Eric Stephenson Publisher Image Comics, Inc. www.imagecomics.com Then you create your own problems. As aptly demonstrated in the last 400 posts in this very topic.
  22. I have never had a dog in this race. There are people who pre-order and get X amount of copies based on the writer, artist, story outline and research. If the comic takes off, then they hit paydirt at 35% off cover. There are those that prefer to wait until a book has broken out in the secondary market and will buy at a premium. So when 500 copies of a proven financial windfall is out at cover, why are people suprised that a feeding frenzy - regardless of intent - ensues? The simple answer to this was to have had 5000 copies printed. Image knew the secondary demand - and if not, then there is a position begging to be created at Image! Image printed a woefully short number of issues. The ones that don't pre-order saw free $50 notes being handed out - and scrambled accordingly. As for the people predicting the end of the world - sure, but only for the people caught holding the baby. And tbh, I'm not really sure that with an Image product you can actually be left with 'too many' copies - especially if you pre-order. Lastly to es - I, and others, have been beating this horse for months. When you let outsiders print their 'variants' then this kind of stuff ensues. Image should never, ever allow the likes of certain groups to print 'variants' again. If you at Image want to do it - and stuff up - then fine. Don't let other groups do it for you. Better still, just have 1 cover per issue and be done with it.
  23. And so, like sands through the hourglass, another day goes by in "The Modern Forum" Bless.
  24. So Ken - are you hitting up Eric to make this an ongoing? The sales are up.....
