  1. After a lot of thought - I can't give them back, (they will be sold to someone else within a day, probably for less than I paid) - this still doesn't sit well. So, I talked with my wife, and on her way home from the CBD she is picking up a $50 AUD Coles Food Gift Voucher. It can't be cashed, or used for Alcohol or Cigarettes - and is made out to the mothers name, so hopefully she won't swap it for $$ It will be posted to their address tomorrow with a note like "I paid too little - enjoy a meal on us, give your lad a treat!" - "Thanks again for the nice comics" That's all I can think of. Hopefully this will put food in the fridge, not booze or worse in the mother.
  2. Stone Me - that's how you do it! Loved this comic since I read the whole series years ago.Even bought a #1 3 yrs ago to keep on my wall - could NEVER see this being made into the R rated series it had to be (Think Preacher) They nailed it! Only complaint - would have preferred Anthony Starr to have played wee Hughie - kinda looks like him a bit from the actual comic... Jings!
  3. They were in his room, in a cupboard - with a Rabbit in a cage as well in the same cupboard, in the dark. His Mum had flea bites all over her legs, I think there may have been some 'substance' issues as well. She was quite unkempt. You are right - they may have been his Dads (which, when you think about it is actually worse) - Kid was about 12 I'd say. Highly likely.
  4. The places we go to find stuff... Answer to my ad - go there, small house, Rabbits, Cats, Dogs and associated poo everywhere..... Door opens - single mum yelling into phone about ex-husbands restraining order..... Poor sad looking kid in garden. I nearly left these, I felt so sorry for the kid, as they were obviously once his - but as his mother so succinctly put it - "you want 'em or do I sell to the next guy in 10 minutes". $100USD later and I go home with these. Plus free Rabbit poo in one box. Luckily the comics weren't too bad - mostly FN - VFN The TMNT #5 - #11 are 1st prints #2 is a 2nd print. Tales of TMNT #1 and the one-shots are all 1st prints Plus the rest. I wanted to leave the books for the kid - but as my wife said "at least he will eat tonight" Very mixed feelings about this buy.
  5. No,but there will be a Russian Love Sausage........ Seriously great book - see my posts above - and try Transmet as well. Love them!
  6. You obviously ain't read the comic........ It's pretty R rated to say the least!
  7. Fear goes to mid-season break. It was good - I liked it - by far the best 'Fear' season to date. Absolutely primed for TWD to end, and the shows to amalgamate with 4-5 of TWD cast joining. New series to start - I think set in the UK would be spot on. Movies to screen - total reboot of franchise. The UK would work - don't forget Andrew Lincoln is English and the show has a great following in UK. Who wouldn't like to see the end of the world in say, Manchester, from day #1 (plus half of Manchester already looks like the apocalypse has already hit so save a fortune on SFX! ) Belated congrats to @Sensei Ryan as well!
  8. Damn...... oh well, one day!
  9. Vastly under-rated show. Waiting eagerly for season 3 on Netflix! Well worth watching - Seasons 1 + 2 on Netflix still
  10. That has to be Marvel Zombies. If they make that movie, it will be the highest earning film of the whole franchise. They can do ANYTHING they want to. MUST be R rated. I'm stoked!
  11. Is there any chance this was a misunderstanding but escalated when the unpaid item case kicked in (I have it manually set on my store)? I kinda read it as "Can I pay for the books I won, but not shipping, and when you list the others in a few weeks I'll buy some more and pay for them along with the combined postage"? In other words - I'll pay for the books now, you hang on to them, and if I buy others or not, send me a combined shipping bill when I see your new ones? July 17BUYER:I would not have an issue making the payment if you need the money as you insist... I would just ask if you could hold off on shipping so I can bid on additional listings when you do post and take advantage of combined shipping? You could read it that way maybe? Regardless, the buyer certainly could have been much clearer if that's what he meant. Hopefully he paid eventually
  12. Don't forget the biggest one of all - Peter Panzerfaust Went as far as visual ads for a BBC series with Elijah Woods, Summer Glau and Ron Perlman - all of whom committed to the show and did live interviews. Then - poof. Gone. Revival (10K for a 10.0) - Les Revenants amongst other TV shows killed that one. Zombies Vs Robots (shanghied by a crappy Dolph Lundgen film) Powers - Actual preview episodes filmed and then canned. Yeah, Todd - I remember Ken coming on here announcing a Disney series, toy and clothing deal - nope, nothing. And no more ken either. Funny that.
  13. Bad call. You found those envelopes, so highly likely there would have been comics or comic related stuff in that room. It may have all been junk, but that's how the 'lucky' people find the good stuff - by doing the hard work such as shifting and sorting this mess.
  14. Comic Stock and Pantera are terrible. If I saw Pantera I'd think it was a shop selling incontinence products. Artboys above is perfect. Hopefully your products and set up have more imagination than your name and logo! Regardless - best of luck with "Comics Cauldron"
  15. https://ktar.com/story/1975413/thrillist-bisbee-underrated-city-arizona/ Seems an interesting place! Best of luck - (a goal we are also working towards - with less success than you so far!) - and keep us posted!
  16. Agreed - I hate it when I get the usual BS message - " It's for my son, I lost my job, it will cheer him up. We've had beans on toast for a week - will you take $20 on your $70 item?" Reply - "no - spend the $20 on food for your kid" Refuse offer, block buyer. It's a BS scam every time that rely on people to be soft as heck 'for the kids' (or similar)
  17. We have something slightly different here because our postal service is so bloody primitive! International tracking has to be manually filled out on forms - I always demand a stamped by PO copy to prove I sent to the correct address. Or - a pre-paid domestic cardboard envelope which again, has the ability to have the address written by me and stamped by the PO. If we used the labels from ebay here, they would not be capable of fitting in the forms! Ebay needs to become universal. What can be tracked in some countries, stop when it reaches a certain country - ie Serbia (from Australia) so I block all Serbian buyers. An item that can be listed in France, can't be here (some Vintage Adult books), due to ebay Australia being based in the Phillipines, and they have a very different moral compass that the French apparently. A world-wide, standard system would sort out 99% of the problems - but ebay have either not the power, or inclination to do so. The rot set in when Sellers were prevented from leaving negative feedback to buyers. The scammers have thrived since then to the situation where I now send everything $10 and over tracked domestically. Neg feedback stopped most of them pretty quickly. Ebay really needs to sort itself out.
  18. Comics are drying up around here as its winter so less sales/auctions etc Picked up a heap of 1960 - 1979 Playboys Some Vampirella, and amazingly as we had a thread about Bruce Minney covers (not that any of these are by Bruce) a small stash of those wierd Nazxi torture mans mags that came from USA. Gives me a few things to turn over whilst waiting for spring anyway!
  19. I genuinely believe there will be a new Walking Dead book in the next 12 - 18 months with a new writer and artist, set in a new place. Possibly London or Paris, Tokyo or Sydney. It was a worldwide event, so seems perfectly feasable that a different team of writers could construct a new universe in a different country. Don't forget the Serbian unique covers, the South American and German Issues plus the impossible to find French #1 (well the pages anyway) There is no reason that the end of the story in the USA should mean another series set in say England would not be just as good. 18 months would be plenty of time to flesh out storylines and character development, plus 2 artists (one artist was too little - Charlies work suffered on occasions from tight deadlines IMHO). Start again at Day #1 in London.......... As for TV - I think I am spot on with my earlier post: "For me, this is the key season - get this right and this over takes the original show. With so many departures I can actually see TWD ending and any remaining cast crossing into 'Fear' - Michonne, Maggie,Rick et al leaving means the show really hangs on Carol and Daryl - both of whom are in their 50's now in real life, and really can't be expected to perform action roles much longer. Maybe this is the plan for the 3rd show - the actors who survive this season of TWD join 'Fear'. I'd like to see only a few - Aaron,Yumiko,Alden,Eugene and Rosita - that's a nice cross-section of characters from Pre-Alexandria (Rosita,Eugene), Alexandria (Aaron), The Saviours (Alden) and the time-jump (Yumiko) joining another Saviour (Dwight) and the only original Left (MORGAN - also in #1 of the comic). Perfect symmetry. TWD finishes with the 3 Andrew Lincoln led movies A new series takes its place. Kinda makes sense." Anyone else think a new book in 18 months with a whole new cast would work?
  20. There was so much more that could have been done, but Kirkman just couldn't get off the human v human roundabout. What an utter tragedy. The best thing would be for Kirkman et al just walk away from EVERYTHING - sell up - and let someone else move this forward. There is a long way to go, with much more to be written and seen (TV). It just needs new eyes and ears.Kirkman became obsessed with Negan, and could not get away from a human 'uber-bad-guy'. Hopefully the movies have a completely new team. The Zombie apocalypse was world-wide. So should the book be. Sell up Skybound, and let a fresh team take over. Having said that - #1 - #48 was the best run of pretty much any book ever. Well done Robert Kirkman, well done.
  21. I think it depends on circumstances. The last 'big' deal I made (see garage thread) was $700. That turned into $15,000 profit (currently) after I sold about 90% (I have about 15 slabs and 100 raw books left plus 5 more slabs at CGC) The guy took my first offer after I saw literally 1 box of contents out of 20 (I checked the others did have comics!) Reason - house was sold, and he was going back to UK,and didn't want to fork out $1500 shipping for 20 boxes halfway around the world. He changed his mind about keeping them at the last minute. He didn't quibble or counter - he just wanted them gone as he was due to move out in 48hrs time. He knew they were worth more - but didn't want the hassle of shipping or selling. Most expensive book was Hawkman #4. Would I have paid more - sure, but after going through all the boxes. I saw each box had comics in, saw a couple of keys, threw out a price - immediate acceptance. It was a win/win. 2 yrs ago - runaway tenant - Estate Agent clearance sale - I was the only person to make an offer - $200. I eventually sold the whole lot for $7676 profit. I'm not going to pay more when I don't have to. Alternatively, I have thrown a couple of hundred $$ under the door of a couple who wouldn't take any money for their sons books (again story is in garage sale thread).* It's all swings and roundabouts - sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you pay 60% FMV. Like someone said - the original seller isn't the one sorting, scanning, listing, packing and posting the comics, that's ME and that all takes time and $$. If you get lucky - grab it - I have done plenty of $200 purchases to make $300 profit. When you get the chance to do very well - don't cherry pick or haggle, just buy. The harder you work, the luckier you get - I am in an absolute doldrum currently - no decent collections of comics have come up for months - I'm turning over Warhammer, Playboys, Walking Dead TPBs etc just to pretty much use my pre-paid store listings. I know my hard work will pay off, and hopefully the next decent score is only a couple of months away. Hopefully! *Disclaimer - in neither of the above purchases were little old ladies conned, puppies kicked, or terrorists arrested.*
