  1. And following on from that - anyone have a Quasar #32 9.8 they want to sell. Has an ad running in WTB for months. Nothing.Zip.Nada. Raw or graded - as long as its a 9.8!
  2. Judging by last nights dreadful episode you can see why Andrew Lincoln wanted out. What a boring show this has become. I don't recognise it from the brilliant early seasons. Last 9.8 went for $1800 according to GPA so I'd say the trend downwards is in full flow. I had 5 copies and sold all 5 a couple of years back - I'll certainly buy another one when prices are at (what i perceive to be ) its lowest - but that will be totally due to the enjoyment I got from episodes #1 - #48 and the first 3 or 4 seasons. The comic and show have simply run out of ideas.
  3. Hi Karl As I said in my opening post,I deliberately didn't name you as you may not have been aware of how things work around here. I also apologised in that post if you were on the level - which you obviously are. When I got your PM about a book I was looking for 5 - 6 weeks earlier (and usually if a book isn't found in a WTB ad inside a week - 10 days then they won't be), I was sceptical. Then I saw no posts,so no 'references', no profile, and you didn't have paypal. That unfortunately set off an alarm,as that usually points to a scammer - and there have been people here over the years that have used stock photos, or even tried to sell books they didn't own - and buyers lost money. I reached out to a boardie I trust, who suggested I contact the site admin. I did and he suggested I post this up. It's clear now that you were simply unsure how to go about selling on here. I'd imagine your PM box (the flashing envelope) will be full of helpful people! People like Oakman, Fastballspecial and Bomber-Bob have stellar reps and will be able to help you sell your books - so reach out to one of them, and they will be able to help you sort out paypal and help you get the best price for your books. I hope you can see why your post was a bit suspicious, and hope you sell your books soon. I hope you took no offence and wish you the best of luck for the future.
  4. As you are 'curious'.... I had a wanted ad for a particular book. He claimed to have one - and many, many more. That's probably why. Let me be clear - I only started this thread because Arch asked me to. And as you can see above - others have had the same experience, but with a happy ending. I was asked to put this out here, so I have.
  5. Following Architects advice... I recieved an unsolicited PM from a new board member with zero posts and no profile offering some very nice books for sale. There were pics of the books in mylar, and they looked very high grade (9.0+) minimum. The tone of the PM was a little 'odd' however, and having no references or profile for this person, I declined to do business, deleted the PM, and blocked the member. I then passed the info to Arch. The person may have been genuine, maybe not, but just a heads up that this is happening. I won't name him in case he isn't attempting a scam, and was just unaware of the way things are done on here, or had English as a second language. Someone may make out like a bandit, but the tone of the post was a little aggressive "rip-off dealers" , "I was left these as a kid but my kid brother got the best" etc etc and raised quite a few red flags. If this person is genuine, I apologise, but it was probably easier to start a thread than send unsolicited PM's. Arch suggested I start a thread - so here it is. Anyone else been contacted?
  6. Punisher War Zone would win the oscar for best film compared to this turdburger. Seriously - watch it - if you make the 30 minute mark and still want to live, you'd pretty much be the first to make that feat. It is so bad, it's impossible to diss it enough.
  7. Oh, you should most certainly watch "The Spirit" - everyone deserves to feel the need to rip their eyeballs out of their head at least once in their life. It's not just the worst comic related movie, it's very probably the worst medium budget film EVER made. I cannot begin to describe how truly pointless and dire this film was. Watch it and pray for death - if I had to suffer, you should too.
  8. It's not a film - The Spirit wins that hands-down - but 'Fear The walking Dead' gets a mention. Filmed on the cheap in Mexico - and boy does it show. If you want to save money - film less episodes!
  9. That's uncanny - I got the EXACT same books plus 1963, 1964 and 1974 last week along with 2 yrs worth of Chevalier and Millionaire! I paid $100 AUD for 125 books, so about the same. What a co-incidence
  10. I had it in my head that there was a vertigo issue as well that had a bigger run. Probably thinking of something else Still a great book - well worth a read for those who haven't had the pleasure Bowel Disrupter to maximum! edit - getting mixed up with this:
  11. Nice - The Transmet is the Helix printing - result! Nothing better than going through a new collection - until you have to get rid of them! Great books!
  12. Bumping an old thread. I noticed that CGC has now given the same designation to the JLE insert "Fall 1991" It's clearly the insert as it says 'Advertisement' on the top. Is this a CGC stuff up - or are these now being conceded as 1st app Sonic as well? #confusedaboutsonic
  13. More DC's in a small Garage sale: 1st JLA Dark (both candidates) although CGC is tending to #50 1st John Constantine in Cameo 1st Vixen 1st Hank Henshaw (Cyborg Superman) in Cameo and Full 1st Silver Banshee GL Corps 1st Nightwing The Tec has a double Atari insert Nothing huge but great for a $50 box
  14. Yeah I had it 9.0 - 9.2 without the '8' I was hoping better graders than me who were more experienced with CGC's wiles could help with the effect the pen mark would have. I'm guessing nothing huge, but if this was a 9.8 book, then I would expect a drop. I have heard of books dropping as low as 8.0 with pen marks being the cause. Thanks very much!
  15. Specifically what that freaking ugly '8' in the corner will do to it! Thanks in advance.
  16. Asked and answered mate - see above The tax is imposed by Aust Govt - ebay collect and pass on the tax (minus their 'admin' I'd guess). Everything into OZ now attracts 10% GST. Ebay collect at POS - as for Dealers,Heritage, your Aunt Bessies Xmas gift - that is still to be determined. I have 50 books in the CGC process - be very interesting to see how tax is collected as i use a 3rd party service.
  17. For those who don't know the book. Starlight meets the Seven.... NSFW
  18. They have now cast Mothers Milk, Queen Maeve, Black Noir, The Deep - but no Frenchman or 'The Female' - IMDB does reference Jennifer Esposito in 8 eps in an un-named role. She does have a lot of hair. I guess it's all down to how well she can say "HA!" Homelander is played by Banshees Anthony Starr - result! Starlight is played by Erin Moriaty - hope she can give great BJ's.... seriously though - well cast. No Lamplighter or Jack From Jupiter (for those who haven't read the book, he's the chap with a peculiar taste in drugs made from the mucus of Queen Maeves err, Lady Garden) - who are 2 out of the Seven. You will no doubt all be pleased to know that they have actually cast Popclaw and, god help us all TEK-KNIGHT!! Sadly, as yet, no Love Sausage (or his giant member) ,Stormfront, Blarney C ock or any reference to the Devils Anus. Although Tek-Knight should cover all their sins. And some. No way this doesn't get an R rating.
  19. 7300 ish copies (minus natural loss/damage) will keep a strong residual value on TWD #1 Ironically #2 + #3 have significant 1st apps and are probably, for a fan, equally important - and have similar if not lower print runs. #1 is Rick, Shane and Morgan #2 Lori,Carl and Glenn #3 Dale, Carol and Andrea I would rate #2 on a par with #1 tbh. I no longer have a copy of any of these (or #19) - but will be buying should the market substantially drop. I would doubt that I would be alone in that either. In short, if there is a collapse, then it would only be a temporary one as collectors jump in to buy these books whilst they are down. Love it or hate it - TWD was THE big show to watch for millions worldwide - it may now be average at best (Fear TWD is just, well, terrible) - but the early Seasons (even the much maligned Season 2) stand up very well on a re-run. Walking Dead Keys #1,2,3 and 19 (possibly #27) will always have a significant $$ value. FWIW - I could see in later years: #1 settling at $1250 - $1500 #2 at $800 - $900 #3 I think is undervalued and may even rise a bit - $600 - Carol is a major, major draw for the Show. Andrea likewise in the Comic. #19 (Michonne) $300 - $350 #27 (The Gov) may hold at $100 Worth noting that a TWD #1 sold for $1300 in July, #2 for $1000 in August, #3 for $251 in June and #19 for $328 in August this year, all in 9.8 Plenty of buyers around for those books at that price, and even more when they dip lower. The comparison with TMNT is for another day!
  20. Ok, that is one fascinating read. Seems like the Australian Govt crumbled and ebay jumped on with the enthusiasm of a sailor in a brothel. American dealers - be prepared for a heap of extra trade I would imagine. Americans with foreign friends can expect a few "please could I send this book to your house" requests. Australian dealers can expect a massive increase in Australian orders. Octavius - thanks for the link, really appreciate it. Can I ask - are there ANY countries now exempt from this tax?
  21. You have to log on to ebay Australia to see the tax being applied. Log on, choose a random book, check the 'sold worldwide' boxes and up she pops. This was just a random listing. Thanks for that.
