  1. I want to create space! I am trying to figure out the best way to get rid of a lot of drek. Thought about seeing if my local library would take some in donation. I'm not even sure they'd want them. I'd like to downsize my collection to a few short boxes and concentrate on just grabbing a nice book here and there as I can.

One of these days Stan will be gone and you'll wish you had his signature plastered across every book you have.

You are Pikachu in this particular scenario. J/k
  4. Steve is top notch! Couldn't have asked for a better transaction. Thanks again
  5. I knew I was getting old when I had to explain to a youngster at work about party lines. At the beginning of the conversation he thought I was referring to a 1-900 number or something.
  6. Outside of comic book related movies, I could never stand E.T. Saw it when it came out and I still want those couple of hours back. And just like @jsilverjanet, I fell asleep during the Dr. Strange movie.
  7. The sales threads are good entertainment. I enjoy watching other people spend their money. Especially ComCav!
  8. I suspect there will be gatherings such as this for a long time to come. We may be a dying breed, but we just might have a few extra dollars to spend. What's better, a large audience that isn't buying the product or a smaller more enthusiastic group that is ready to purchase? Probably at a much cheaper table or booth price. Eh....maybe some more dealers could chime in.
  9. So what you're saying is that there needs to be a movement initiated by dealers to organize cons that cater to the book buyer? Yes please. Growing up, the best thing was going to a rented hall somewhere that had nothing but table after table of dealers with piles of boxes. No decoration, no cosplayers....just hard-core nerds flipping through back issues. A bit nostalgic, yes...but it sure was fun.
  10. I agree that some of the details of Stan and Jack's history together are a bit unsavory. But I do believe that Stan really propelled the company into the mainstream with his tireless promotion. Call it what you will, but seeing this through my eyes as a kid...ignorance was really bliss. I thought that Stan was indeed the man! I devoured the books and wanted to know who wrote, penciled, and colored each of them. I was a fan. My visions of the bullpen were of a group of folks having the times of their lives. Jack was no doubt a major driving force behind a lot of the creations and deserved a much better fate, but I don't discount what Stan was doing at all.
  11. The best of times when these hit the mailbox!
