  1. If that's all that she appears in #14 it would be a cameo. 1 panel and unnamed. And ygogolak is always wrong.
  2. Cameo then? I'm going with this one. Low print, hard to find (only two copy's left on feebay) Selling at 2-3x the 1st print. With a full cover appearance a month before Ms Marvel #1. Seems like the top choice too me. Cheers! As for speculation , #14 is a cameo # 17 1st print is second cameo BUT.. Captain Marvel #17 2cond print is The first appearance of Kamila khan as Ms Marvel and there is no arguing a first appearance/cover appearance. This book is also before the point one issue. Did you even read what I wrote. Captain Marvel #14 is the 1st appearance of Kamala Khan. Captain Marvel #17 is the 1st appearance of Kamala Khan as the new Ms. Marvel. Kamala Khan is just a 16 year old girl in Captain Marvel #14. That's it. Kamala Khan becoimes the new Ms. Marvel in Captain Marvel #17. I will the collectors decide which print is more significant for Captain Marvel #17. There is no cameos. The Juggernaut is always right.
  3. Simple. Someone is just missing that copy from their Annuals, and thinks they are getting a sweet copy. No hype, no spec, just want.
  4. I really hope you're joking. Of course it merits value. I've already given the evidence that no one can dispute. Straight from the writer of the book. The artist has said it as well that it is her 1st appearance. Its not an arm (superman #17 - doomsday), its not a televison screen (Jimmy Olsen #134 - Darkseid) or a preview. That doesn't mean everyone is going to see it as valuable, or as the book to get. It's a one panel shot, with no dialogue. If the writer didn't point it out, nobody would know who the hell it is. She looks like a 30 year old woman there, not a teenager. Comics are full of one panel appearances more significant than this one, that don't become the primary book that the market chooses as its first appearance. Some people favor the first time a character is ever published on paper. Some people favor their first significant appearance in a book. Everyone has their preference for what they are going to collect. The point of this was never to debate what her first appearance is, and I never put up any kind of debate on the matter. It was to post the panel in question, and let people decide whether or not its enough for them to spend ~$25 on a copy if they don't know what they're getting for their money. And while we're on topic, Ms Marvel seems to be selling for around $25-30 right now. There you go. Which, of course, is why the whole first appearance thing is so incredibly stoopid.
  5. It's not which book it is that matters, it's what the rest of the book looks like. Put up scans if you want opinions.
  6. Green label yes. That being said I have seen many detached staples on blue label books in the 6.0-7.0 range. I have a NM book but it has a 1 inch tear on back cover, do tears on an otherwise NM book make a qualified label as well? It can - it depends on the book.
  7. I like this plan, which book? My first thought was Turok #1, which you probably can't avoid finding in cheap bins if you tried. Viewed newly listed auction for maximum time to accumulate watches and picked one from someone that expects far too much: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turok-Dinosaur-Hunter-vol-1-no-1-July-1993-/151460403201?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item2343be5801 Aaaaand watching We've got 2!! Watched Guess I make four. Watching! I only get to watch 200 books and I'm not about to waste a slot watching Turok 1. There's a limit?
  8. It's generally a very civil place here, although people tend to read way too much into emoticons . . . (for example)
  9. And so, you apply the necessary statistical analysis to account for these, but they are still valid data points. Agreed, but when you make a broad statement that the market is "correcting itself" by using one instance, that is not a proper method of review. The "market rate" would be considered an average of the whole, which that particular sale would be included in. But the sale 10 days ago for $400 would also be included in that range. Agree with both of you. (Write it down, because I don't see it happening again anytime soon. )

  11. Outlier, check the recent sold listings. There is no such thing as an outlier. Every sale is a data point.
  12. This is not news. #1 in 9.8 has been a $450-550 book for a while. The GPA high this year is $660. Try actually reading before commenting . . . I'm pretty sure Transplant read it the way most of whetton's posts are presented. "Look at how high this book is currently." I took the phrase, "Well past being hot" as "this book is now beyond hot, just look at the price" not to mean it heated up a long time ago. Transplant may have also. I think he was only pointing out that the book has been selling strong for a while. I don't think it was intended to be condescending. Unlike your smart azz condescending remark ad face palm. It amazes me how many people around here like to be condescending a-holes from behind their computers. Who's the bully here? Whetton's post meant exactly what it said. Transplant was unnecessarily puffing his chest, and now you're defending him and calling me names. It amazes me that you give a rip.

  14. Well, if you go back and read both of them, you'd realize what carppy books they were in the first place. MM #1 was an event, a 70's event, but an event nonetheless.
  15. Seriously, I just sold my 9.8 raw copy a few weeks ago for $90 to a boardie who has "outmaneuvered" me on more than one occasion . . .
  16. Holy cow! I just sold a raw 9.2 for $41. You're sitting on a damn gold mine. Peace, Chip Sweet! Now let my haterade chime in....YOU'LL NEVER FIND 100 PEOPLE TO BUY THAT BOOK FOR $400!!! just kidding, that's pretty awesome man No but 100 at $40 can pay the mortgage . . .
  17. This would be a great thread . . . if it wasn't for all these modern comics.
  18. Whatever you need to tell yourself. Whatever yourself. The movie came out April 4. eBay doesn't let you go back that far to my knowledge. Captain America 6, 1st Winter Solider sold for $200 when the movie dropped. Now you can buy it for $15. You're going to claim a $20 book now wasn't selling for $30 when the movie came out? I definitely don't remember any $200 raw sales, but I remember 9.8s getting up to $300 or so. I'm not going to dig too far, but it was a boardie and he did respond that he got paid. Here is around when it started, selling for $150 raw. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7608229&fpart=5 Which, of course, is not even the book we're talking about.
  19. Seems like that one is on the decline. Yeah...that was a $30-40 book 6 months ago. Although I need to give credit to the fact that it's pretty close to the assigned grade. The board effect at work. Jim Bah humbug! No board effect at all. I don't post or list to please you. This was never a $30-40 book, 360 was/is. For a book that shows who we later find out to be Crossbones only in shadows, this is a respectable sale. Six months earlier, it wasn't worth cover price. Whatever you need to tell yourself. Whatever yourself.
