  1. Don't play ignorant. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1976814&fpart=1 Which precisely supports the point I made, Michael. Why the name-calling? Now you've extended the limitation to this thread also. Or did you forget which thread you were posting in? David - we are currently in the Probation Discussions thread. This is the place people are nominated for the PL/HOS and evidence presented, questions asked etc. The thread I linked to and quoted above is from the General Discussions thread which was created to provide a place for the irrelevant conversations to help keep this, the PROBATION DISCUSSIONS thread cleaner. I think you have the threads confused. As Branget said - I am confused. Michael, Waaaay too many rules for this boy to follow. Let people say what they want to say where they want to say it. bestest, David You rarely post in the PL Discussion. What do you care? you have been harping about "too many rules" since we created a PL system that actually HAD rules. Ever try to search through what is about 70% posts irrelevant to a PL/HOS nomination? Takes a while because of the irrelevant posts. The General Discussions thread here has been around since 2007. Suddenly your brain cannot handle it? Say what you want as a reply. I really don't give a ----- what you have to say anymore. I will not be replying back and adding more to the drek here. Wow. You need to take a deep breath and step back a bit. I set up the Probation Thread and it worked just fine for years before certain members had to go to great lengths to define what they thought a "probational" offense was. Now no one gets puts on the list without discussion ad nauseum, and many deserved parties still do net get put on it. It's just a historical thread now, and serves very little pupose, if any. Oh, and btw, what's the point of having a new paragraph for every sentence you write? Do you really think it's that important?

  3. I checked out some of his e-bay listings last night. This one stood out like a sore thumb. The B.C. of this book is wrinkled to high heaven. Is grading on this book " subjective ". Subjective to what? This isn't a case of grade bumping a half or a full point. This is going way beyond that. This is a 6.0 in some alternate universe maybe. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Daredevil-5-1964-FN-6-0-OW-W-Pages-Wally-Wood-Artwork-Begins-/321503934731?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item4adb20b90b#ht_340wt_923 Apparently, he's had no "change of heart".
  4. didn't he get ripped off by somebody on eBay? Maybe he found out it's okay to do this and there is no repercussion? Nope, that was the, "I got ripped off on Craig's List - What should I do now?" thread.

  6. I call that the DannyD special. Bump the grades as high as possible and hope they dont return'em! He had 100% feedback tho. Precisely. At least (as far as we know) he doesn't trim his books.
  7. Anyone who claims that he is "supporting his family" on his comic sales will tend to stretch his grading skills beyond their limit. Fact of life. Not my cup of tea. What is "not your cup of tea"? "Stretching one's grading skills" (whatever that means) or claiming publicly that you are "supporting your family" with the comics sales? Really curious david, because your "grin" emoticon does not help at all in these cases… The words in my post mean exactly what they were chosen to mean. I believe that the only thing you don't understand is the grin, which is meaningless by definition.
  8. It's Crumb. Sorry for the double tap. I was just scandalized that Crumb went unrecognized. Crumb by Crumb.
  9. Colour me surprised. Certainly not 1.35 billion Chinese people . . . Cheque again!
  10. What? Now we have rules about what can be posted in the thread that was set up to keep the Probation Thread clean? What next Bluto? Double-secret probation?

  12. Not even . . . a reach is a reach is a reach. Btw, I don't think I posted this sale: WOS 18
  13. I don't know Chip & I probably don't even like him since that "Peace" thing is annoying...but in his defense. - Boboset hasn't said who "pointed out" the fact that a book being given away at 4.0 was listed on e-bay as a 5.5 - if I was Chip I'd want to know who started it & who is stalking me - Stating the give-away was a 4.0 could have been for any reason - I suspect what we all suspect is true - BUT IF people are checking out his off-board activities & researching his e-bay listings for a grade discrepancy - isn't it possible that he might regrade it conservatively to avoid getting TGT trolled as has happened in the past when he's put up cruddy offers ( they were) - I will say I don't think Bobo did anything malicious posting here, at worst, he threadkrapped the TGT thread when posting the original link - the unfortunate part of his post is that it's a summary with conclusions & most will take it at face value - PGM opinions aren't binding on sellers & that is the basis for Boboset's post listing a pattern of grade bumping of books for sale on e-bay - the only problem I have with it is people should be taking his summary with a grain of salt - as RMA correctly pointed out the PGM forums are tight & you can see further evidence of why people do that in this thread where people brag about what tight graders they are and the best way to prove that to potential customers is to grade tight in the PGM threads - What a crock of bababooey
  14. isn't that because most of your books are NM or better? let me rephrase this, it helps when most of your books are NM or better his implication of "inaccuracy" is spurious. Grading will always be subjective. If I grade a book as 9.2, and its actually a 9.9, that's not grading "inaccurately". It's grading conservatively. Grading is ultimately a tolerance level, I grade at Space Shuttle level tolerances If others want to grade with lower margins of error, best of luck to them. Who's "his" are you talking about?
  15. isn't that because most of your books are NM or better? let me rephrase this, it helps when most of your books are NM or better Like anyone, I've got tons of low to mid-grade books. . . . (but I'm not going to spend time listing them - too much work.)
  16. The grade is the grade is the grade. Personally, I believe in grading accurately. I don't customize the grade for the particular forum.
  17. I don't think it's a marketplace issue truthfully, outing him as knowingly overstating grades on e-bay doesn't look good at all ...I don't think there's anything actionable other than sharing what you found to warn others. You did that & Chip obviously is doing some things wrong, his only defense is that he starts his auctions at a low price. On e-bay grade/price go hand in hand, I usually ignore what a seller quotes & look at scans anyways. That still doesn't make him right. I personally think this is just TGT butthurt carrying over to here. There seems to have been a pattern of judging Chip and Chip's offers harshly, one or more people over there have been continuing to take a keen interest in his participation in that thread since the beginning. I'm sure people are busy cleaning up their e-bay history, post history, squaring up charitable history, photobuckets, facebooks, etc...so that they can come over to participate The Giving Tree thread, give away a book (as per PGM results) only to have it get researched enough to blow up in their faces like this has for Chip. Surely with all of this disclosure at Chip's expense we'll learn who did the "pointing" shortly. No disrespect to those that are honestly invested in trying to make the trading threads work, but it really does seem like it's the same 10-15 people who are in a constant state of butthurt over them. I'm a little tired of seeing these silly PIF/TGT/Trading thread vendettas spill over into the other areas around here. So you don't think the point Boboset raised is legitimate, leaving aside what may have motivated him or the person who brought the issue to his attention? I think he raised a legitimate point, and glad he did. I will wait for Chip to chime in before jumping to any conclusions, in case there's something I have missed. Just so anyone new to the conversation doesn't have to spend 10 minutes finding it . . .
  18. To me all this shows for the negative feedback is people not using the return feature. Or asking for part of a refund back. Also that if I bid on his books, that I will grade them down 2 full grades, and bid accordingly. -Kystix The prices of those books from his Neg/Neutral feedback are like $1-$6 books, with a couple $10+ books. I imagine no one even wants to deal with returning a 99¢ item - so the only recourse is to leave appropriate feedback. This is a great reason not to sell drek on Ebay. A neg from a 99¢ item isn't ever worth the hit to your reputation. Chip doesn't seem to have a "business model" . . . He just throws 'em up there and sees if they sell.
