Always use a credit card. I had a paypal balance at that point - so I couldn't use a credit card even if I had wanted to. Silly boy, when you have any doubts, you empty your account first, then charge to a CC. The only time I don't use a CC is when it is someone I've purchased from before or inherently trust. The freakster doesn't qualify on either count.

This must mean that not only is his paypal account empty, but that it is not tied to an active bank account, correct? This has evolved into theft. He should be banned permanently from the boards. Magari . . .

I absolutely agree Jon...30 days is a pretty horrendous effort to pay for a book or ship a book. But what I think the 30 days establishes is the "horrendous" threshold if you will, thus qualifying someone to be placed on probation...even more so if the person is non-communicative and/or brings a pain-in-the-azz attitude about it to the person on the other end of the transaction... This about sums up the purpose. As everyone knows, most books bought and sold here on the Boards are shipped and received within a week.

Well, every seller can set his own limits, but frankly after 30 days . . . no ticket, no laundry. You are kidding yourself if you think someone is going to turn it around after that. Fish or cut bait, as they say. That's why I set that as the number of days to make good in the original post. Funny thing is that most boardies have wanted to shorten that time period, so go figure . . .

Sorry to hear about this but members should come forth with troubled transactions to alert other members of potental problems. Another member had problems with TFL and I wonder if it saw the light of day, would Filter81 been more proactive with collecting his money. Once I saw the trouble MuscleShark had with CapFreak, I did not hestiate to open a Paypal dispute once the transaction went over 30 days because I was alerted to the possible problem. Agreed. Had Adam cut TFL off after the first missed payment in January and posted here, the entire community (including Adam) would have benefited. Adam could have jumped on the $27K offer he received in in March and this thread would be 100 pages shorter.
