  1. Didn't have time to read past the first page so please disregard if someone already mentioned this.......... By early 1992, Wolverine was on the cover of every comic book of every character, including DC's. I think I also saw him on the covers of Rolling Stone, Penthouse, Popular Mechanics, school text books, and even your weekly grocery store circulars.
  2. It's a comic book story. I enjoy the similar Ra's/LoA storyline. Except in TDKR which actually took me 4 different viewings to see the whole movie. There was only so much I could take at a time. Kinda like SM3. And the scenes in IM3 whenever the little kid was on screen. HAIL HYDRA !
  3. Warning: Spoilers for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." After the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, things are a little different for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and her secret spy organization S.H.I.E.L.D. We'll be seeing the effects of the film in "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." not only in tonight's episode but presumably for the remainder of the season. If the ending of "Winter Soldier" left you wondering where its characters will end up after the events of the film, you might get to find out about one of them very soon as Vulture has confirmed with Nick Fury himself, Samuel L. Jackson, that he will be returning to "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." for the final episode of the season. "I did! Last week! I just shot the end-of-the-season show," he said, though he wouldn't divulge any details. "You're trying to get me fired and killed! I don't talk about Marvel's business. None of us do." Jackson previously appeared on the series for the second episode, and having him return could potentially tie up a few loose ends from the film or end up making even more. "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." airs Tuesdays at 8 P.M. on ABC. LINK
  4. I'd like to thank Marvel/Disney for giving us the best show on tv.
  5. Lame. I had 30 silver age ready for submission. I'm not inclined to do so now.
  6. Thanks for the response. Can you tell us how you came to the conclusion it is trimmed this time? Did you get the book back from the buyer and re-inspect it? Or did you just go with what you remembered from the last time you inspected it for Spider-Dan? If so, then why couldn't anyone remember this rare, pricey book just weeks after a bunch of hoopla surrounded it? (Remember, EVERYONE inspected it and determined it was trimmed for Spider-Dan). So how could NO ONE possibly remember this book just several weeks later when it was brought it for a re-sub? Can you tell us who the re-subber was? Can you tell us if the same graders and resto experts looked at it during the walk through? Who was on duty that day? I know it's a lot of questions, but we all have a lot of doubts about CGC right now. EDIT: Also, I hope you (CGC) didn't wait till almost 5pm to post a response, on purpose. It gives one the impression that you did it to avoid responding to any follow up questions because everyone has gone home for the day.
  7. Depends. A parachute only opening 2 out of 3 times would be a non-starter for me.
  8. That's not how it's done. By the time the graders get the book, a page count has already been done. The resto check has already been done. Graders know if it has been restored and if there are any missing pages or coupons cut. They only have to grade. Steve Borock shared this with me years ago. It's a little off the OP's subject, but I suggest CGC needs to hire more staff and get more equipment on the encapsulation side. It is fairly clear that is where the hold up is at. Books sit as graded for weeks and months waiting to be encapsulated. Clearly the graders can produce books ready for slabbing faster than encapsulation can slab. Couldn't CGC subcontract some of the grading/slabbing out to PGX when they get behind?
  9. Big Time We haven't talked about how good Kim Cattrall looked in Police Academy, Mannequin, and Big Trouble in Little China yet.
  10. If done with Elmer's Glue, I agree. Just lower the grade but keep the blue label. If it's done in a professional manner then you just have to give it a PLOD.

  12. Suspected would be as good as guilty. + 1 An employer would never hire someone "suspected" of bank robbery, or any other serious crime. It has a stigma.
  13. Didn't PSA have a monopoly on card grading at one time Dan Doesn't your model work on straight resub no pressing? In other words a CGC mistake? If a new grading pops up they are going to be likely tighter and more consistent. Meaning you'll have to submit to CGC and crack the other company's to make money. Or you'll need to wait a couple years til the new grading company either has cycles of grading or enough on the market you can find the mistakes. How does a competitor help your model? Or would you adjust to a new model altogether with a new company? My "model" is to seek out books that look undergraded in hopes of an upgrade. A bit of a gamble I know, but Im willing to take that gamble. Many people on these Boards including you have benefitted from this. I know that the number in the corner is only an OPINION. Whether a book is trimmed, color touched, pieces added, that should be a FACT. This thread was started about going from Blue to Purple (and now back to Blue), not about a book being graded tight or not. If a new co could detect resto better, it would benefit ALL of us! See my last post on the issue of trimming. If you've ever seen a micro trimmed book in hand I think you'd agree that without before and after scans it's nearly impossible to tell with certainty. You're getting the same opinion on trimming you are on a grade. There's a detection difference between this and the other things you mentioned. Trimming is an opinion the same kind of opinion you seek to exploit. And I don't say that negatively because I do the same thing. I'm simply pointing out that the detection of trimming isn't a fact in the same sense the other things you mentioned. Since CGC has the power (and I agree WE gave them that power) to turn a $5000 book into a $2000 book, they should be 100% certain, or go with a Blue Label So inevitably......trimming gets a pass because CGC can't detect it with absolute certainty. Slippery slope indeed Isn't that CGC's rule concerning pressing?
  14. That is not a first print. Isn't that what he said? That it's a 2nd print?
  15. Yes, because it's just all so dang convoluted. By all means destroy the fifty year old book.
  16. you want to burn a JIM 83? ROFL okeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... yes.....burn it. That 100% guarantees it can never create the same problem again.
  17. That or Chris Hemsworth is the buyer and resubmitted it, and the graders thought"he is the real Thor" so they gave him a better grade and they are a fan of his too.. Nah. Hemsworth would have gotten the blue AND the 7. .. Chuck Norris would have gotten an 11. And the whole slab would be blue.
  18. Sort of. Yes you know the history. You get a book that has been a blue and now is a purple, who would resub it? I wouldn't, you wouldn't. Nobody who buys big books like this would resub so quickly. It wouldn't happen. And contact the seller again? Why? It's just going to cause problems like this. Especially because the resubber was doing this for monetary gain, not curiosity. You don't sub big books for curiosity. So your 1,2, and 3 are not normal. Not saying it's the op but or the seller, but the op needs to address these concerns so we can have a better picture. I would resub. 3% FMV grading fee on a plod jim 83 7.0 is about $100 versus a potential doubling in price from 2800k for a plod to nearly 6k for a universal. So it would be worth the risk for me. Especially if i knew it had been a universal before... Even if dude told you about the 'consensus'? Yeah it is only ~$100 bucks for a potential 3k gain, and I know of several "trimmed" books that have changed label colors. So he made a gamble the OP wasn't willing to make. Which is odd because any sane person would think 'surely they're gonna remember this book'..... it would not be 100% that they would remember it.
